Do you know the 28 law?
Of any set of things, the most important is only a small part, about 20%, and the remaining 80%, though most, is secondary, so it is called the "28" law.
Eighty percent of bitcoin is in the hands of 20 percent of the world's population.
So BTC won't fail!

If you data is accurate i don't think that this will be the reason that bitcoin will fail. That 60% of population that can not access computer will decline as time goes by.

No.Despite that factor that 60% of people don't use computers, still bitcoin has succeeded and even it has created curiosity even among people of such groups who are computer illiterate.

...compared to say u.s. dollar bills which you can hold in your hand or stuff in your mattress.

this is why bitcoins will not go mainstream because majority of human beings on this planet do not have access to a computer.

successful gold standards are things like toyota trucks, ak-47's, u.s. c-notes which thrive in places like afghanistan and africa.
If the computer has a lot of factor of failure currency, why internet has achieve success today?yes  not all the people has access to computers but how about multiplying 7Billion to 0.40? thats still huge !

The statistics you gave is rather on the high side considering the fact that the world is now a global village. I believe even in most rural area people have access to either a computer or mobile phones with internet facilities. Bitcoin will keep gaining world wide acceptance as the years goes by. However, it might not become a mainstream currency because of government policy and the huge technology needed to successfully cater for transactions that will be generated on the blockchain if billions of people are involved.

I don't think so. It's not that they have no access, most of them just don't have their own computer but can access them. When I was starting in Bitcoin, I don't have my PC so I need to rent a computer in the internet cafe just to learn Bitcoin. Now, I have my laptop and a high end android phone wherein I can access Bitcoin anytime. If there's a wheel, there's a way.

Cellphones are computers and the penetration rate is much higher than PC ( 5 billions at present time). For example Kenya and Zimbabwe use cell phones as a way to make payments as not everyone has access to bank account. The synergy between cellphones and cryptocurrency will be a huge market (estimated to 500 billion in  2020).  TelCoin is an example of cryptocurrency that tries to target this market.

This is a silly comment to make. Technology is only growing and has been for years. Things like cars and the internet to name a few both had tons of negative comments made towards them in their early stages.

Think of it this way...how much money do you keep in your wallet? If you asked me that, as a 34 year old, I would tell you, "maybe $20." The rest is in my bank...I've been using my credit and debit card for years. Currency became digital a few years ago so what makes you think something like btc can't be that currency when the demand for it is there.

Just like cars and the internet, BTC and cryptocurrencie will all pan out the way they will.

Where are you getting this statistic from? Most of the world has access to either internet cafes or mobile phones even if they don't own a computer themselves. And access to the net and computers is growing by the day.
Yes actually i agreed with you most people now even in urban area or near the city have already mobile phone they easy to access bitcoin if they know how to used it. People now start facing the great technology so therefore there's a chance that bitcoin to become well known nowadays. I think your rate in people not having internet connection was not right maybe now is in 45%. Nowadays bitcoin get more popularized in all countries.
The digital era has grown very rapidly. So, for those who have internet access and use it to earn an income is a very profitable thing. Moreover investing with cryptocurrency. This is a great opportunity for modern society.

I think it will not happen, the barometer of bitcoin fall is not because the world's population can not computer, but its reduced volume and spreading are weakened, although only a few of the world's population can use computers, but mining, investment and spreading are increasing, the bitcoin will be more high.

Bitcoin could never go mainstream anyway, look what happens when only a very little share of population starts to use it, transactions get stucked, never confirmed, fees go to the sky, it is a mess. Now imagine this mess projected on the world's population as adoption base...

Even if people can't access a computer, can they access a mobile device? A tablet, cheap smartphone, anything along those lines? If they can then they can go ahead and use and buy bitcoin whenever they want. A computer is one thing, and I kinda understand why so many don't have this yet -- but a TON of people in the world have phones capable of using bitcoin, even in poor nations.

Your point is invalid.
No quality bitcoin wallets or miners exist in Smartphones (at least the ones i know)

I think you are trying to say that bitcoin will fail to become a mainstream currency because 60% of the world population don't have access to the computer. If I am understanding you correctly, then let me assure you that bitcoin is not structurally built and fit for becoming a mainstream currency in any way. It is an experimental virtual currency which implemented the idea of a decentralized currency successfully for the first time through blockchain technology. It is not trying to become a mainstream one.

So bitcoin will always be used by those with a certain level of technological expertise  and not by any common people. Even though the process for bitcoin payment has been made very simpler by many third party wallet provider, but majority of the governments will not want to allow bitcoin to mingle with their own centralized currency system. It is and will always remain as a digital currency and an excellent store of value.
Thanks for your response, now you convinced me and I think differently. Thanks for giving me a new point of view
