I have faith in numbers and math but not so much with lottery numbers. The dude deserves winning that prize, and it certainly paid off. Although I must say if he didn't, betting on the lottery alone for 20 years every week will certainly set him back a couple thousand dollars. Still, congrats to the guy for sticking with the numbers that he picked. Not everyone has the capacity nor the willpower to stay true to their numbers for that long. At some point, I'm sure he thought to himself that he's just wasting money and time for doing the same thing over and over again.

Only a few could able to manage that but for sure there are people who do able to play the same behavior but it is much lesser or below 30 years.

This is dedication! Every week for 30 years to bet on the same numbers! It's something I saw in the movies, or read in some news, but I don't know anyone who is doing that... playing the same number every week! And this guy was doing this for 30 years! Just amazing!
I think I am not that type of person! I would last a month or maybe a little more... I am sure I would miss one week, and that would be the end of my cycle! Not something to brag about, but not all of us have that kind of character that can last for years, unchanged!

My father in-law is doing the same thing, he always gambles 1-2-3-4-5-6 numbers for the lottery in our nation, he does this every single week, it is a very tiny amount, like 1$ or something like that, so it is not a big deal, he spends like 50 bucks a year on it basically for every week, and that means we are talking about maybe like 3k for whole his life, very little amount of money because it wasn't even this expensive back in the day but let's assume it was, when you divide that to 1 buck per week it is nothing.Would you be able to do it? But as far as the patience go, Lol, not sure if I can do it though. Day in, day out going to lotto outlets bet on the same number for the last 20 years.

That means that even if you take 10,000 tickets (one every day for 30 years), there is only a 0.1% chance of winning the jackpot. The question will be asked whether the individual would have rather saved this amount and invested it somewhere else.
I don't see why. I am not too keen on EV- games, like the lottery, but the good thing about it is that you can earn a life-changing amount for a negligible amount. It also doesn't have as much potential risk of abuse as other games. So I don't see a problem with young people buying one lottery number a week (or a day).

I would have thought the game play was conducted weekly which would bring your calculation down to 30(y) X 52(w) X $36 = $ 56,160 (give or take - based on the today dollar values for the three game panels played)
That's right. According to the article, the lottery where that man won is rolling twice a week.
We just don't know if that man is also betting on other lottery tiers making it a daily basis. It makes more cost because he has 3 sets of numbers.
But with this computation, daily or weekly, still an insane amount to spend. That man is even a hardcore gambler compare to the usual gambler.
