Would you be able to do it? Playing the same numbers over and over again like this? Because I know that I will not have the patience to do this during 30 years.

A common tale in the lottery to win, stick with your bet until the end.

I can do a 30-year lottery betting but not sticking to the same numbers. The reason is, I just don't want to spend extra time picking specifically what numbers should I bet on especially if that will involve several batches.

As always, once I enter the lottery station, will get a card, slashing the lucky pick for random numbers, pay for it on the cashier, then hope for luck.

For 18 million dollars? Yeah, I’d have the patience  Cheesy
Besides, it is easier when you realize that by playing the same number over and over you somewhat increase your chances of winning, as there’s a probability that a certain number will hit someday, but if you do different numbers, you risk missing that event. By doing the same all the time, on the other hand, you’ll never miss it. So if you follow this rule, breaking it and choosing another number would simply be irrational.
Yeah you do have the patience and the money to spent on tickets but do you have the time on going to those outlets on buying tickets on everyday basis or just few days of the week?
It might be simple as it looks but when you are a person who just been forced on doing bets because you've seen others been winning then it turns out for this activity to be boring.
Passion is indeed bad when dealing with gambling but you wont really make it that far if you arent really eager or dedicated on what you do have to reach on something thats
 in your mind.

On one of those things that we all wished happened to us, a 61 year old man that has been playing the same numbers for 30 years finally won the lottery and won 18.41 million dollars, he explains that each time he placed the bet he thought about changing the numbers but he decided against doing so each time, there is no explanation of where the numbers come from but I suppose they must mean something, otherwise it would be difficult to believe he could keep playing the same numbers over and over again.

Would you be able to do it? Playing the same numbers over and over again like this? Because I know that I will not have the patience to do this during 30 years.

That he is a lucky person and we can't sure if it will happen to us. He has a different story and we also have our own. Maybe because he patiently waited for that time and spend millions of dollars as well. It couldn't be called as he deserves it but purely it was his lucky day and a lucky number for that day.

I certainly don't think this was a good idea, I dare not to do that but instead to run a good business maybe I could get more.
I'd try the lottery for almost a year and have nothing to get, so I stop and look for another.

This isn't an easy thing, because we won't be able to play on a dice with a specific number for few consecutive rolls. There is difference between a dice roll and lottery, however both requires patience. In such a means I'm quite surprised by his patience to play on a single number and his patience have rewarded him. He's not the one to have such patience, there might be more and more following the same principle. Now he have come to light through his winning.

So, this is truly pure luck that sides with someone who has played very patiently and in a very long period of time.
30 years is not a short time. I can't imagine playing gambling during that time and with the same number.

I personally do not include people who are always lucky with things like this. So I personally won't do this, especially we don't know what amount and when we will win.

He considered that as his lucky number, and it pays it all right now I imagine how much money he already spend on Lottery for 30 years, I can’t do this honestly such a great commitment. Fortunately, he’s still young (a senior) but still, he can use that money for whatever he wants to buy and got to, congrats to that lucky guy!

30 long years, sure is a long wait, for him to keep his faith in those numbers, although already old he knows what he'll do with the money that is why he opted for a one-time lump sum, he knows that time is now short for him, might as well do what he wanted to do there's is no information on the winner but at that age and with that kind of patience I'm sure he is matured enough to decides what's best for his money.

It's not easy to keep up with that numbers for a very long time, it's a combination of faith and patience and his story is another great example that there is a reward for being patient.

Lmao, I wonder how much he spent on these lottery tickets.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I highly suggest that nobody repeat what this man has done because he has incurred a massive negative EV and just got extremely lucky. 99/100 times if you play a lottery daily, you will end up not hitting the jackpot even after a long time horizon.

Don't forget that mainstream media tend to give the tiny portion of wins all the coverage and therefore induce survivorship bias.
So lets presumpt and i dont know if this is a Powerball, Megamillions or Lotto 47.Basing off with the draw schedule which is average of 2x per week and if he had stick out on using same combinations and payment (also changes)
but lets presume that it is fixed. So if there are 52 weeks in a year then that would be $36 x 52 = $1,872/ year x 30 years = $56,160 which i could really say that it is really worth of the time and money they've spent.
This is something that you have no doubts if you are in losses because it does able to cover up your expenses on past 3 decades.

With your computation I think I will also do the same, with how he trust the winning combination even it took him 30 years the wait still worthy as he's going to enjoy he's retirement with a huge amount of money, sometimes when luck really permits things to happen for you. It's going to change your life for good.

Hoping that he will use the money the right way, not the same with those people who just enjoy the money in a short span of time.

This might not be luck but more of a strategy in winning once in a lifetime lottery.
Most of the time I was thinking, If you're betting in a lottery you're like saving your money to the lottery company and earn everything "IF" you win. But If you're not, you're actually giving out free money.

In this case, 30 years before winning the lottery is no joke. This requires a lot of patience, consistency, and dedication to hit those combination.
I have calculated, If the amount of $18m equates the amount of money he spent everyday to buy the tickets. But no, he actually made a good profit out of all those tickets he bought for 30 years.
If you're saving money for 30 years to reach $18m, you need to save at least $1,600+ everyday.  Tickets are like $30-$50 anyway.
When it comes to lottery then i dont really believe nor consider about some sort of strategy because any results could be random and it is just talking about odds on hitting the jackpot.

So here's the odds:
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 302.6 million and the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million, according to Lottery USA.

It is just this man is really lucky on betting lottery even though it do almost cost a half of lifetime.

After reading this feat of taking the same number for 30 years is insane, the first thought that went into my mind is that how much money he might have burned taking the lottery for the past 30 years. After reading the article i assume it is $1 but how many he spent for that $18 million jackpot.
What ever it may be the article looks like an advertisement for the lottery Cheesy.

If he do bought tickets once per day in all days on that 30 years time then I could say that it did really pays off and most likely with those number combinations is personally been choosed neither its an anniversary or combinations of birthdays or totally just personal point of hands and stick with it.

It is really hard to maintain numbers which had been consecutively lost up and imagine 30 years of betting isn't something that people could able to reach off and with due to frustration then
even having 1 month straight loss would already be hard thing. How much more on 30 years?

This man had really that dedication on hitting up the jackpot even though its not a guarantee to hit on his lifetime but once your lucky then theres no specific time needed.
^ That is a possible idea which the number comes from the especially occasion or events and even me, I did this sometime but I can't be able to maintain for a long period of time. 30 years is too long and if the winner bought a ticket every day multiply into 30 years, that is already a big amount. So this is possible and probably the 61-year-old winner had extra money to place a bet every day and can able to maintain it for 30 years. Nevertheless, we can do also what this old man did, but there is no assurance for us until when we will hit the jackpot.

Not many people can stick to their routine and do this for the next 30 years of their life. Because you have no idea if and when you will hit the jackpot, you are just hoping that your starts will give you luck one day. This situation should not be an inspiration for others because let us admit that in reality, that amount can be used to feed you and your kids if you are in the tight budget. I can agree if you have no problem with your funds and can easily buy a ticket without any problem.

There's another winner or man who do hit up $60M jackpot lottery after playing same numbers for 30 years too.  Cool
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/29/man-won-60-million-lottery-after-playing-same-numbers-for-decades.html

This do proves out that there are people who are really that patient enough on taking such step and dedication for them to
bet on same combinations for a very long time.

Damn, I don't know how he selected that number but selecting a number and sticking to it forever is good like he did rather than changing the number after a few times of not hitting the lottery.
Imagine if he changed the number then how disappointing it would have been for him.
Keeping that aside I hope he got some good use for the money otherwise he'll just end up gambling them away.

A lot of people do have their own combination of numbers that they bet over and over just like this old man. It's not just him and some died not hitting a jackpot. It could be worth it for him to wait that long. 30 of spending a lottery ticket every day, he should stop after this.

60-year-old man still could enjoy the money and could travel everywhere. My old pa did go to Thailand to Cambodia at 60 so this guy could also enjoy the $18M.

I have tried this but only good for 1 year and on the next year i never intent to continue as if those numbers wont really be hitting up anytime soon.

30 years waiting time or betting is something not all person could do and lottery tickets arent really that expensive for people to mind off about on how much they could save on.

This hit isnt something that everybody could also get.It is just a matter of extreme luck because theres no time frame neither 1 day hit or 50 years before you could able to hit.
