Congratulations young man, the wait is over!  Finally pays off. It only needs one big win to live like a king. He deserves it. For 30 years he was he is up for it patiently.
He really has something to share for his sons and daughters and it's great timing where people lose jobs and getting scared for what could happen in the future. 18M can do a lot for him and his family.

If your problem will be about the patience, my problem will be on the bankroll. Looking at the attached image of the lottery ticket, it cost him $36. Spending $36 per day for lottery ticket is a huge amount for me obviously and it is not the amount I can afford to lose in single day since my monthly salary wont be able to cover it. I would not even dare to spend $15 per day for lottery ticket.

Not on per daily basis but twice a week. In every country or region, lottery doesn't have a daily draw for the same lottery type. Reading the article, the bettor won the Lotto 47 which the draw takes place every Wednesday and Saturday. However, still pricey and I can't afford to take the risk. I'm not sure though if the man is placing bets in any other lotteries. But if yes, it means, it's really possible he is spending a $36 per day bet.

My average spendings in a lottery are just about $5 to $10 per week so I salute that man and his patience got paid off. I'm also amazed that he rarely missed that draw for 30 years so it's not just the money but he really dedicates his precious time to bet on it even he's busy or got some errands to finished.

This is indeed a very rare feat, for a man to consistently play a number for 30 years consecutively, what happen if he couldn't hit a jackpot? meaning all his monies gone, I salute his courage and perseverance, more than 90% of people would have stop playing the lottery  at a certain point in time after several incurring several losses,
Personally I like the idea of playing the same number repeatedly, however do I have the will and motivation to do so continuously? NO. I will be discouraged to stop wasting my hard earn money.

On one of those things that we all wished happened to us, a 61 year old man that has been playing the same numbers for 30 years finally won the lottery and won 18.41 million dollars, he explains that each time he placed the bet he thought about changing the numbers but he decided against doing so each time, there is no explanation of where the numbers come from but I suppose they must mean something, otherwise it would be difficult to believe he could keep playing the same numbers over and over again.

Would you be able to do it? Playing the same numbers over and over again like this? Because I know that I will not have the patience to do this during 30 years.

I believe that there is a similar situation but not the longevity of the years but they both bet the same number combination for long years and finally win the jackpot after long time of betting daily.
This is mostly the combination of birthdays or some favorite numbers of the family of the said person in which they will put budget betting same combo day after day.
i use to do the same thing when i was still betting lottery but after spending thousands or dollars for how many years? i finally gave up and forget about lottery until now.
instead the budget for betting in lottery ? i put in Ethereum and now i am holding good chunks of ETH from that said amount.

I used to do this actually, but not playing that kind of lottery, since the only one we had before is sweepstakes, where you can only pick the tickets, not really the numbers. Then I used to pick the same "pick 4" numbers every single draw (about 2/3 times a week). Stopped after a few years finally after always hitting consolation prizes.

Fairplay to the man. He's the ultimate DCA gambler lol.

It's not an easy thing to keep using the same combination of numbers for decades and believe that it will finally give you a win, especially since he has to spend money to buy the lottery ticket, unless it's a free lottery ticket. But for me it's not easy to follow, especially for decades by continuing spend money and then expecting something uncertain because this is only based on luck, looks like a fool especially if don't win it at all.

I don't think I have the guts to play with it over again, perhaps in a little while will do but if no results comes up I'd literally move on to other numbers that I could think of. 30 years is somehow a very long time and this grandpa surely be commended for being patient that long. Seems he gonna reap the reward he's been planting on. Congratulations to him!

Geez, playing for 30 years and won the lottery for 18.41 million dollars?
That is a long waiting time for him without him knows that he finally can win that jackpot.
Maybe he trusts his instinct and places the number but for sure, he is a lucky person among the other people.
This teaches us that he has commitment doing the same thing for 30 years and still buying the lottery.
But I am not sure if we can win like that person and I do not know if we can patient for waiting a long time to win the jackpot.

$5 x 30 days = $150 and multiplied by 12 months = $1,800 then multiplied by 30 years = $54,000 which he spent 30 years, that's the lowest count in lottery bets, What's clear is that if he placed a lottery bet in one day where he won $18 million, his bet would be bigger than I calculated.

Overall put up the lottery the money spent was not felt, but he did not realize that 1-2 cars he had sold for it, Your dream lottery bet can be used as a benchmark for the number you want to place, natural events can be a benchmark for certain numbers, for me not.

OP, I agree with you, I may not last for so many years....! To pursue the uncertain.

Once in a while we hear about these stories, about people continuously taking lottery tickets and finally hitting the jackpot. But we hear only about the winners. I know a few guys who have spent a fortune on lottery tickets and still unable to win any noteworthy prizes. A few of them became financially ruined as a result. But this is the hard reality. You can be lucky and be wealthy. If you are unlucky, then no one remembers about you, and you will spend your time in regretting about the amount that was spent on lottery tickets.

I have known particular people, even family and friends, who stick to their lottery number combinations all their lives. Their combinations are mostly made up of numbers taken from their family members' birth and other significant dates. They maintain it for as long as they can.

As for me I don't think I have the determination and perseverance for this. I bet on lotteries every once in a long while. I admit it is something which requires a great amount of luck which avoids majority of the people their whole lives.

My grandfather is like that and he passed that behavior to my parents everytime they are betting on the lottery.

Nothing wrong with the habit and no effect on RNG. It's just that, that routine is good for others as their own way of attracting luck by sticking and being loyal to their picks as they believed their efforts will soon be rewarded.

That also applied to other picking number games.

I'm not really a fan of betting on a lottery but I do know people around me that used to bet on the same numbers that they inherited from their parents or they simply called "a well-care lottery number" of them. Well,I do believe that there's nothing wrong by doing such thing but I do only concern about how long would they wait to have a chance to win such huge price from lottery. I mean does the money that they could win in future could cover up their daily bet spent on lottery what exactly I mean is that if we would sum up the long time or the number of days multiplied by their daily bet on lottery does their lotto winning money is enough to covered the long time daily spending of a lottery bettors?

Hopefully people don't fall into the trap of believing this stuff occurs regularly and go out and get lotto tickets on a regular basis themselves.

Of course, the odds of winning lottery are high, but people tends to stick and believed that they can beat the odds.

Lotteries are probably the worst game that you can play because they carry the absolute worst RTP you can imagine. Some of the lotteries (actually, most of them) have house edges of 50+%, which means that for every $1 you put into a lottery ticket you are expected to get less than 50 cents back.

I would rather spend it on other forms of entertainment, or heck, even sportsbetting/dice/casino games that return more to the player.

I agree with you, but then again, there are people who are more willing to take that risk on lotteries because of the huge windfall. It might happened once in a lifetime and as a human being, we take that huge risk as long as you have extra money on your pocket to bet $1 with the same numbers for many years.

For 18 million dollars? Yeah, I’d have the patience  Cheesy
Besides, it is easier when you realize that by playing the same number over and over you somewhat increase your chances of winning, as there’s a probability that a certain number will hit someday, but if you do different numbers, you risk missing that event. By doing the same all the time, on the other hand, you’ll never miss it. So if you follow this rule, breaking it and choosing another number would simply be irrational.
I would have given him the consolation prize for using the same number for the past 30 years and make him happy  Cheesy. Not sure whether anyone could pick the same number for 30 years and finally winning a jackpot is simply awesome. Majority will not spend your time taking tickets let alone taking the same digit for your lifetime expecting them to win.

This isn't an easy thing, because we won't be able to play on a dice with a specific number for few consecutive rolls. There is difference between a dice roll and lottery, however both requires patience. In such a means I'm quite surprised by his patience to play on a single number and his patience have rewarded him. He's not the one to have such patience, there might be more and more following the same principle. Now he have come to light through his winning.

Even if it's a lottery and comparing the lottery with dice isn't balancing in this case.
The lottery can have more than a million combinations of numbers and million lotteries but sticking to 1 number for 10+ years and hitting that number is crazy, you've to believe in the number first that it will hit someday otherwise you'll run out of your life trying to hit a lottery by choosing the same number but not hitting it.
Luck is the greatest factor on why someone do hit up lottery and basing up on the odds or chances on hitting combinations then i could say that our entire life time isnt really that sufficient
on hitting something which odds are way too almost close to impossible it is just these people do able to hit when they are still alive and its record breaking considering on how
long they've been maintaining that number and continous to make bets on using up the same combination.I was really amazed on their dedication.

Nope. That's about taking care of his numbers for so many years. I know that there were older folks than me that still does that to lottery and they're too consistent with it.

But unlike this guy, luck is with him and did managed to see his taken good care numbers have given him the fortune of his life.
