Wow, those numbers scare me. 80% is really much.
Then it seems to be really hard to find a reputable ico.
I still have a lot to learn, it seems.

You can invest into ICO which will multiply your investment or you will invest into ICO which die and you will lose your money. Every investment is risky but I won't say 80% are scam?

If around 80% ICOs are scams, we must be smarter and smarter in deciding which ICO we are going to participate. We must also be more careful when analyzing the ICO. But, I doubt for those percentage. I am sure that many legit and trusted ICOs are available to choose. But probably, we don't know about them.

Some of the ICOs can be scam, but I don't like to say scam to the ICO's that became unsuccessful that couldn't reach their softcap or hit the regulation walls. Naturally most of this startup can fail, that doesn't make them scam projects.

Investing in ICOs is a common investment form for small investors. This is a form of attracting investment in electronic money projects. It brings you high profits from these investment projects. But you have to be careful, now there are a lot of phishing projects occupy about 80%. You should be careful!

I would say the percent of scams is even higher than 80 percent.  A lot of these scams you never hear about and they slowly fade from your memory.
I think you isn't right, because statistics show percent of big part ICOs. Of course it's not all of them, but more or less it's 80%.
I think this figure is more than 80%, recently a lot of fraudulent projects, I have not seen this before.

easy money has always attracted scammers with an ICO of exactly the same story. Now the time of the gold rush, every little Malsky expert who managed to earn capital on the crypto currency in the last few years dreams of creating his own ICO. Imagine that you are now at the turn of the 90s and you can create a website for the sale of books and become a new amozonom-of course you'll want this passionately

Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...

It is not clear to me on how they find out that ICO has no intention to fulfill their intentions and that they are scams. I think that this study is not reliable and also too short of a time has passed since the boom of  ICO in start of the year. I believe the majority will be failed not scams.

I can say that 80% of ico's are not getting a success, but this doesn't mean that they are scam. Because scam is willingly on purpose of deceiving project creating. When somebody is use the ICO just in purples to steal money.

most ICO projects are just hype, which is why countries are adopting laws to restrict ICO.

The reason behind ICO has been jeopardized by the selfish interest of people/company. Now most ICOs are conducted for no reason than to steal peoples money, of recent I prefer to buy in on a airdropped projects than ICO.
Especially in this market downtrend, most ICO couldn't meet up with the ICO price when they enter market just because of overprice or project value.

You are viewing this  from your own perspective, that's why you are concluding that most 80% of ICO are scam I disagree totally with that if you say that most ICO pay worthless token I can accept that though some ICO are scam but not 80%

I think you need to be more objective with this assertion of yours. The fact that you conducted your research doesn't make you right with your conclusion. Thou, many recent icos are proven to failing, doesn't mean all or close to 80%, I believe and have seen some good  ones even lately.

Do not be direct to 80%. But quite a large percentage, here on another is not how. If you want to make money on this, consider that these are your risks!

Despite the fact that 80 percent of the ICO is a Scam, many people continue to invest. I think as long as people want to make money in quick and easy ways, the scammers will never go away.

Very untrue, We can not conclude that 80% of ICO is a scam. I see very many good ICOs. And that's very potential, So we can not say that 80% ICO scam. That is not very true and I feel it is a bad statement.

The proportion has increased, but it is definitely not as high as 80%. Scam ICOs remain as an exception rather than a norm. But there is no doubt that the reputation of the entire ICO industry has been tarnished severely by some of the high profile scams.

I know , just take a look back of the ICOs history in this year , see how many of them never has been added anywhere!
see how many of ICOs never could reach the hardcap , how many ICOs that abusing name of some other tokens or tokens to make people confuse , It is not a good thing at all , this decrease the trust to the market and then people start taking their money out , and we see more dumps and more support breakings!

I probably would have given more percent.
Because in the end, many more ico will be scam.
And only the projects that are necessary to society remain.
