I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...

Wow! Where have you get such data? You do have the percentage on how large the scammers is. Is it credible or it is just a mere assumption of you. Well I don't agree if you drop down stats having no authentic evidences, well, mostly is the thing you should say that most of ICO are just scams. We cannot afford to drop down assumption with no evidences, after all we are the one who have to be blamed getting out of scam. Because we are lack of criticizing an ICO before lending out a money to it. Probably we could had avoid it if we put some strong awareness before digging into it.

Yes, very much scams. I think this is the last year when such ICO is held. The following year, or completely change the rules of the game, or the ICO will disappear in this form

It's the truth. In fact, there are quite a few projects that do not conduct ICO, but look for investors on their own and their projects enter the market and are quite good and successful.

th for all we know they may have counted bch because they kept hearing it being called a scam by the core trolls. with a number as high as 80% i wouldn't be surprised if joke cryptos like doge coin or garlicoin are counted as scams too. the "study" is meaningless if we can't even check which cryptos they evaluated.

Perhaps there is some truth in this, but the fact that it is possible to earn a little on this is an obvious fact. Therefore, risk and earn.

Official statistics do not know anybody, but the fact that there is a certain truth in this is an indisputable fact. Therefore, from fraud, no one is insured, the earnings in this sphere is rather doubtful.

Most ICO projects are just hype, and they have no practical use, so the risk of investing in ICO is very large, but there are still good ICO projects. As long as you can find out, then you will get a huge profit.

Recently, a study was conducted of all the launched ICO projects, then according to statistics about 18% are considered scammers. If it were the opposite, the cryptocurrency would not exist, people would stop believing in it. There are still many ico that have good potential. You could have seen some nice ico in bountyhive. Therefore many ico which I think is very potential like ico Velix.ID

I guess it just 50% well there are still real prohect had an ICO but unfortunately they didnt meet even soft cap of the token sale so turn them to not continue the the development of the project. Just because of market situation more investor is on hold now and not joining any ICO. Even the best project struggling to reached the hard cap

I think this percentage is even greater than 80. Every day I read about the next scam project, I think in the future with the development of the crypto industry, the percentage of the scam will fall

There is hardly any regulation on the ICOs and that is why so many scammers are coming up with their fake projects. It must be made mandatory for the ICO promoters to deposit a small amount of ETH in escrow before they start accepting investments for their project.

I do not agree if 80% ICO is a scam, it could be ICO is not completed sales or can be said not successful view of the team that is less efficient in work and marketing conditions that are not possible. indeed as bounty hunter many experienced scam but many also bounty hunter who did not get paid because ICO is not a success

It is just our duty to see if some ICO project merits partaking on the grounds that there are such a large number of phony ones in the market that you do need to invest energy and research before going along with them.

Many of the projects which hold the ICO, really are scams. In fact, only occasionally there are projects that are worth investing in, but we see new projects every day.

I would like to say that we also call scam projects that they are not, that is, they simply did not succeed in making a successful project.

Not 80, 95!  Grin
Usually business is considered successful if it works for 5 years. Cryptocurrency is an innovative digital asset market, and here everything happens much faster. But not instantly. Therefore, it is necessary to draw conclusions about the ICO two years after the listing of the tokens on the exchanges.  Wink
