Trying to spin up powered off stuff.. dear god this shit is so annoying. Why is everything so unstable?
You've probably got to update a lot of stuff... new drivers, new miners, new memory straps... Everything should be working better today, but kinda requires you to go through all your settings again.

Harder than just flicking the switch back on.

Personally I just plugged in my two new RTX 2060's... and they are doing the exact same speed on x16rt as the 1080's, for ~15W less each. Pretty sweet. Looking forward to testing them on C29 and ETH+VBK configs...
The updating stuff was the problem.. thing ran find on old drivers, old miners, but once the tweaking starts.. sheesh. The rigs just love to BSOD/hard hang. Not the best to be working on remotely.. plus GPUs just dying, risers failing, PSUs cooking..

Back to basics: how are Zotac cards doing in comparison to their peers? I'm looking for a couple of RTX 2060, and these Zotacs are quite cheap. I'm mostly interested in the fan quality. Are they ball-bearing? Can anyone share experiences? So far I've only mined with ASUS and EVGA GPUs (which have been faultless).

EDIT:
I could get the Zotac dual-fan for £319 or
I could get the ASUS dual-fan for £339.

Pretty certain the ASUS will have good quality fans.

EDIT2: problem solved, found the ASUS for £324.

Most of the bitcoin fork coins are like BCI. You can't get too greedy and need to sell while the price is attractive and get out.

Bitcoin Cash was the only Bitcoin fork which would of paid you well if you've held it. It opened at $300 and it peaked at $3000 once. The other forked coins like Bitcoin Gold, etc all basically peaked at the time of the fork and have been going down ever since.

Same with the Bitcoin Cash SV coin. Was hoping to get 0.02 BTC for it but it got delisted almost everywhere and its worth less than 1% of a BTC right now. So once again the best time to sell BSV was around the time of the fork.

I think people realized after bch that forks are nothing but a dead end TBH....

As long as alts don't properly take off we'll remain in low-profitability-land.

I'm finding it quite strange however that on the days where alts do pump, profitability hardly goes up. It's like hashpower comes out out of nowhere and immediately increases diff. There's probably so many automated mining bots out there that any little opportunity is squashed as it appears. We need a widespread alt bullmarket for this massive global hashpower to be absorbed.

Makes me think we might see all time highs again, but not in terms of daily mining profitability. Way too much hash out there.

asics  sit and wait for a lot of alts to pump.  So a flick of the switch and they turn on.

Think of zec  how much hash do they have  z miners  are like 50 cards.
I'm not even talking about asic algos... But look at CN/r and variants, x16, C29, Beam... All that stuff is at the same profitability level as a week ago. It's like nothing even happened! Cheesy

Raven did not pump in value much
Grin did not pump in value much.

Last I looked raven was not at 7 cents
And grin was under 2 dollars.

Are you waiting RVN to reach 1 dollar to sell?

I have a lot of RVN

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin-interest/
BCI is   8.6 cents
I would sell ½ of it at 86 cents

And thinking that a few months back we mined it at over 1.2$...
I remember the day when I was doing 11-14 coins per day with a 1080ti rig and now I see 36 coins/day Smiley
I'm also holding BCI.

So if you take a 6 month break, you get perma banned? why else would I have been perma banned?

Anyway, new account here.
Interesting market movements. Happy to see some hype back in the scene Smiley

Your account probably got compromised and did some nefarious stuff on here.

Yeah, I suggest PM an admin to see whats the story.

Phil, we reached 100 pages of bear market posting. Time for a new thread. Give it a good name, like "9th altcoin thread - We're back beotches!"

TBH im surprised this one thread lasted as long as it did... usually it was a few months to half a year xD

Its nice to see the BTC trends.   Early this morning the indicators showed possibly a pullback/selloff, but im glad to see after I woke that BTC pushed up into the 8200-8300 range.

Also nice seeing a nearly $100 XMR price.   Glad I left my rig of old GPU's chewing away at it non-stop.

Looking at:
https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

It seems that the difficulty is already growing, even though mining ETH today was the most profitable since last November, I think that the difficulty is going to up at a slightly slower pace than the price and it will remain "not as profitable" until we at least break the $400-$500 mark.

I see no reason that the difficulty can't climb back above 300K which was the top of the bull market, pretty sure most GPUs were powered down instead of disassembled and sold.

I cranked up 6Ghs of my old 470s/480s/P106s/1060s and put them to work on ETC, lower diff and profitable. ETC was +15% at $7.43

I was mining Ethereum and some other coins while it was only marginally profitable. I was trying to take advantage of the low difficulty, and I've been pretty much bag hodling since then. I hope I'll be able to see some payback as alts turn green. I need to try to time my sells when alts are around their peak.

ETH doesn't count;  it's got the same level of respect and trust that I have in Java or Adobe Flash.
Great to see straightforward attitudes! This is why I love altcoin threads. Sometimes interesting viewpoints. May I ask your opinion on why do you think Ethereum isn't a coin to hold or invest in?

Phil - It might be close to time to generate the 9th Alt coin thread.

Page 100 and I will do it.

I think by Friday the 17th for sure.
