Cases of dieing before even getting to receive the amount one has won in a bet is increasing by the day with some gamblers staking to win an amount that's above what Thier emotion can carry and when they win, some faint and die instantly because they've not seen such amount of money in their account

An incidence that happened recently as shown in the picture below where a gambler collapse and later died after winning $2.5k  on his bet sparks the question;

1. Do you stake to win an amount you're not emotionally ready to receive?
2. How much can come into your account at a spot that can cause you to collapse instantly
3. How can we prepare for cases where you suddenly win a jackpot that's huge and you know that your mind can't carry that amount of money?

I thought that this was a made up story but I have been coming across it a lot of times, how can someone that's poor not die until he finally makes some money to take care of himself then he just passes away just like that. People said it's because he hasn't touched such an amount of money before. This is why they gambling isn't for everyone not everyone has the mental maturity to stay relaxed no matter the pressure that comes their way, I'm sure if he had lost some money he would have also died too... Dont get involved with thing you can't handle

This means I would say that cases like this are very rare cases, because the scenario is unreasonable to make someone experience bad things because the results of his gambling are as he expected, it is very rare for something that should be happy to cause a disaster.

Yes, I rarely hear cases like this, there is a gambler who faints after he gets a big jackpot or maybe he already has a history of heart disease and when he goes to the casino he is in poor health. Grin
It is also strange to hear cases like this, but if this really happens, how unfortunate the fate of a gambler and his family is, instead of wanting to get happiness, they get sadness.
And it’s also very unfortunate that they’ll be using the same money he won to bury him. While gambling can offer lots of thrills and fun to the gambler, it can also arouse some kind of impulses due to the tension associated with gambling, especially for those who are gambling solely for the financial benefits of gambling rather than the thrill it’s got to offer, and this can be very critical for someone with health challenges, especially heart related illness. That’s why people with such conditions should try as much as possible to avoid gambling activities, for their own safety.

It's just an unfortunate incident, else there's no way someone would just die out of excitement when they are supposed to enjoy their profit. Last case I read was a man that was attacked and shoot at his home after he won a significant amount from the casino. Before that one, there was also a similar topic as this current one, where the gambler died after hearing the huge amount he had won. We can not predict life, anything can happen any time, those diseased didn't plan to die but it just happened, an unfortunate circumstance.

The thing that can make a gambler to collapse after it has made amount of money through gambling should be as a result of the person being incapable of handling a big money so that is why it is good for someone to know to be over excited and whatever things they are doing I know that whenever you make a large amount of money through gambling you will be extremely happy but that should not result as death because it will discourage some of gamblers who is willing to Gamble to see it as wrong method, so I believe in gambling theirs things you need to understand, what you need to control is your expectations ratio and controlling yourself when you lose

Controlling or limiting expectations is indeed something that is recommended for a gambler to have, but it is a useful ability to minimize all bad possibilities due to emotions that dominate you when you lose, but when the results turn out to be a win? of course it should have nothing to do with controlling or limiting the expectations you have because the results are as you expected.

And as we see that the death experienced by someone told by OP, namely he died because he managed to win, doesn't make sense, right? of course, because what should have the potential to lead a gambler to various bad possibilities is when the results are not as he expected, with various scenarios such as dominant emotions that make him lose control and commit suicide for example or other things.

This means I would say that cases like this are very rare cases, because the scenario is unreasonable to make someone experience bad things because the results of his gambling are as he expected, it is very rare for something that should be happy to cause a disaster.

I do not think there is any amount that I am not emotionally ready for. Any amount that I won, I will be ready to receive it. It is only when my bank account can not receive the money that I will be worried as I have to upgrade my account and the amount will attract people to know that I have become wealthy. Gamblers that are collapsing have some health issues, that is what I think as most of them are not collapsing out of happiness but because they have issues that they did not know about and it is manifesting after they receive the news that they won the big amounts. I think we should always go for check up to make sure we are healthy and this is not just becauce of gambling but for our general wellbeing. Wealth is health therefore if we are not healthy we can not enjoy our wealth.

Dying from excitement has long since started and gamblers hit a huge jackpot. There are many accounts of such incidents if you report everything in real life and on the internet. When you are winning huge amounts of money in gambling, you are one step closer to death. Because you are completely addicted to drugs, so even if you want, you will not get rid of it. Again, when you lose gambling and become very poor, you are taking the decision of your life as death.
Dying from hitting up a jackpot or huge win is really that a rare case in compared into dying or taking up suicide just because you have put up yourself on deep debt because of too much gambling on which this is something which you could really be able to compare on with. We do know that when it comes to winning jackpots then who wouldnt really be that so happy? I do agree into some words above
that if someone dies because of too much happiness then this person might be having that existing health issue. You cant easily die with having those kind of emotional spike but if you are someone who do have
some health problems then you might be facing up these kind of potential health risks this could be leading to death. This is why you should really be careful on handling your emotion.

This is a very sad story and get to shows a lot about the need to take the psychological aspect of gambling seriously.
~snip~
~snip~
....Conditioning of the mind is very important as well as your health condition.
~snip~
...., I agree that conditioning of the mind is very important for us so we can take control everything until we can get the money in our hands.
But I don't think all person can do that ways to prevent this kind of situation to persist, particular to stressful gamblers who always seeks to win and recover a huge amount of losses. Often times this over excitement tend to exist, once a gambler overcome his frustrations on winning and this might be a hard to control scenario. Much better if there's a possible training on every individual who's potentially couldn't handle when there's an overwhelming situation that might arise if ever winning streak could blast off during gambling activity.

I don't believe that when we're winning big amounts in gambling, we're closer to death.

It's just a thought of someone that have seen news like this. If death is near to the big winners then many would have died already but didn't.

Maybe it's called the placebo effect when someone thinks of that and just recently read the news about incidents alike on this thread.

This guy must have been seeing the sign of high blood pressure but perhaps didn't take it serious and just gave up the ghost on a happy moments. May we no die on the day of our shinning moments, all the plans and strategies started has all went down in vain and this is a lesson for every one of us that is gambling, take your health seriously and don't joke with some sign, if you are allergic to gambling, it's better you stop it because if you don't play it, you would die.

As for me, I don't gamble with money that will hook me emotionally. I gamble with what I can afford to lose and I'm not sure such amount can make me collapse. I have never even better with huge amount of money that will give me a surprising reward because when I stake, I do it moderately and so is my potential reward. Even in situation where I might win big, I wouldn't be crazy over it because I have seen big amount of money in my life before gambling reward.

When someone dies because of such extreme joy or being glad then this do really shows rather on having some health issues or implications rather than on other any reason.
You cant easily die just because of sudden burst of emotion on the time or moment that you do win up something big or you are on extreme happy situation specially on hitting up an amount
that you havent been able to win up before. If you are extremely happy then its normal but dying out just because of that situation then this do shows that there's something with your health
and on the moment that it do happens and you are in shock then it could potentially give out that kind of effect or outcome on which it is really that sad for a certain individual.
This is why it will really be that important that if you do know that you do have some health issues then you should really know on how to handle up yourself on such situations.

There must be a health problem experienced. it is impossible for a healthy person to be very surprised to see the victory obtained and maybe it was expected but instead fainted or died because of the pleasure.
Of course, such a response is not expected and it happens suddenly. the victim must know that he has a health problem, just did not expect the bad possibility that he would suffer greatly because of the shock.

Or there is another possibility that the victim actually does not know about his health condition because he did not check it beforehand. anyone can be in a condition like that, currently, we are still playing healthily, but with such an unbelievable surprise, sometimes it makes our bodies and minds actually experience a decline due to disbelief in what happened.

The only thing that I will say is that gamblers should be ready and optimistic always about them winning million so what is the essence of you playing bet to win million if you don't have a strong mind and is not ready to receive big wins
There's no need for some person to engage in activities that will cause their blood pressure to be increased as it can lead to many health complications

What...$2.5K win resulted in the death... can't believe in this. I would understand $2.5M rather than $2.5K which is too small sum to make the adrenaline tsunami in the body that could lead to death, I'm personally   ready to except even  $2.5B without any adrenaline flood as my body developed a damp against the stress situations which may happen in the course of gambling.

That's what bugging me too. The post says that the person won 2.5 million in Niara.
When converted to USD it's merely around $1600 which is astonishing because it's ridiculous to die for such a small amount.
I know it might not be such a small amount for some people afterall but still it's not something so big that one would die for.

A lot of people have been waiting for such an opportunity for them to be able to own that money in their currency. However from my thoughts, I think that the gambler died because he sees that money as a huge amount of money. And probably, the gambler might have not won such amount of money before. Presently, the economy is hard and people are looking for a way to get even half of the money the gambler that died won. My question is, why did the gambler not died when he haven't won that money? Now that he was supposed to enjoy the money he won he died (what a pity).

Everything looks great when you say it in a highly devalued currency!
So 2.5 million nairas is $1500, I know, different thing, but if I go for the first result in Google one kilo of beef meat is 5000 naira so what he has won is about the equivalent of 500 kg of premium meat, about two years supply? Hardly record-breaking!
Quite funny using those official exchanges if it was a win in Vietnam it would have been 40 million! dongs, again impressive when you quote the numbers not so when you think of the actual value from the point of view of foreigners!
Yes. Even in the Nigerian Naira it is still not so much considering that the economy has collapsed and inflation has made the currency to lose its value. But yeah, I get your point.

Quote
Also, do we have any evidence he collapsed the moment he saw the winnings or it was a random attack not related to the result?
This is closely related example - in one of the matches, a die hard fan was about to celebrate a goal scored by his team but immediately had a heart attack and died. I have never seen a person with a healthy heart die from a good or bad news. The most that happens to them is that they "faint" and are resuscitated. The ones who died from the excitement of a good news or the shock of a bad news are only those with a bad heart or other health conditions.

I haven't seen any amount that would make me collapse because I am always expectant of what I should earn or amount to win. Just as you said, before I have used small amount to place bet to win huge amount and I was eagerly ready waiting for the games to play and win all the matches but unfortunately, about 4 or 6 games terminated the match that was how I lost everything. Although it was around $400k to win but after then I never go that dipper staking much games instead I would prefer just 3-10 games with small odds to win a decent amount not more than $100 to $300 if stake with $20-50.
Well people have got their preferences and for you it's obvious you have had to deal with huge funds before now and that's why you seem not to mind making a Chase on huge funds such as $400k but for some others this is such an amount they have and may not see in their life time and so when they get fortunate at some point to see anything close, they are unable to control the rush under their skin and pass out, this is why it's  good to know what you are capable of before trying to attempt it so he don't get to react funny when situations as such happens because this doesn't look like a mild case at any point at all.

Here's some edits to make:
1) resize the image to make it smaller.
2) Convert the figure in Nigerian Naira to dollars which can be better by other users here.

I have being trying to figure out what led to this gambler death but nothing is coming into my head because like you said that money is too small for someone to be over excited on that will lead to his death. Who knows if he had some health issue before he won his bet which led to his death or he hasn't seen such money before and  was not expecting it.

I am from his country and the amount that he won is too small and I have seen someone who won tripple of the amount that killed him. It is only his family members that will be able to give account of what caused his death.
