God is great

Take care of your health first. There is no profit in hitting the Jackpot and losing your life even before your received the money. At the moment no one knows what would happen to the money. Would the sportsbook eventually give the money to representative of the family or will they come up with some ambiguous regulations to keep the money?
What if this happened as a result of shock because of the huge amount of the money which he never expected, because I have come across gamblers who won a huge amount of money and fainted. This happens to people who never expect they can get such amount of money in their lifetime. It is important for gamblers to build their emotions and mindset to be ready to expect anything. I know it is possible for shock to cause something like this and most times it happens like this when it is not taking properly well.  Shock is a medical condition that sometimes people don't even have the strength to survive it.

So he died of excitement because he got $2.5K. I understand that the purchasing power of that money in Nigeria is higher than in other places, but I still think it is not that much and either he had a very bad economic situation, or there are other factors that may have influenced him, such as smoking, alcoholism, etc.

1. Do you stake to win an amount you're not emotionally ready to receive?

No, the only exception would be when I play the lottery, and I don't play much.

2. How much can come into your account at a spot that can cause you to collapse instantly

Collapse with bets I doubt it. With the lottery if there were many millions, maybe it could be.

3. How can we prepare for cases where you suddenly win a jackpot that's huge and you know that your mind can't carry that amount of money?

You can't. You can try to lead as healthy a life as possible, which will help you avoid heart attacks in general.

Cases of dieing before even getting to receive the amount one has won in a bet is increasing by the day with some gamblers staking to win an amount that's above what Thier emotion can carry and when they win, some faint and die instantly because they've not seen such amount of money in their account

An incidence that happened recently as shown in the picture below where a gambler collapse and later died after winning $2.5k  on his bet sparks the question;

1. Do you stake to win an amount you're not emotionally ready to receive?

What...$2.5K win resulted in the death... can't believe in this. I would understand $2.5M rather than $2.5K which is too small sum to make the adrenaline tsunami in the body that could lead to death, I'm personally   ready to except even  $2.5B without any adrenaline flood as my body developed a damp against the stress situations which may happen in the course of gambling.

This is not an isolated case and this could happen to anyone, I even read about a guy whose relatives have a healthy heart until he win a huge amount in a lottery and gets a stroke, and the money ends up for his hospitalization and care.

1. Do you stake to win an amount you're not emotionally ready to receive?
You have to be ready for any eventuality if you're betting in a lottery, If you see people winning jackpots, you should consider that it can happen to you, and you have to have an open mind and the readiness to accept that.

2. How much can come into your account at a spot that can cause you to collapse instantly.
I have not won millions of dollars yet but I keep myself fit so even getting overexcited will not harm my heart and my mind

Learning about most of the happenings about people dying after winning there gambling can be very annoying sometimes because it doesn't make sense, wining should be something of joy and even if you are so overwhelmed with joy you can possibly shield a little tears to express your happiness instead of fainting and died because indirectly the expression of that person shows that he or she doesn't want to win as they gamble because that's the only definition I can get because for someone who has been gambling for so many years with continues losing, wining a huge amount of money shouldn't result the person the emotion they can never control because even if they should calculate all the money they lost while gambling it could even happen that they have lost more than the amount they won, so indirectly is just the money they have been losing they managed to get back, so shouldn't make somebody to completely shortdown because of joy.

The real question here is.

What happened with the money?

The casino keeps the 4.2M or the family of the victim, or the police, or the gov?

In theory the family should keep the money but since it's a big amount, everyone will try to keep it, for sure the casino and the police will fight for it.

And this isn't normal, i don't think a big win like this could kill anyone, the gambler must have some health issues for this to happen, a healthy gambler will never suffer a heart attack.

I have not found any confirmation of this news. OP, I would like to know the source. It is rare to find such news that is not covered on the Internet.

this is from a blog on Facebook and I've seen other post about this incidence that took place last Sunday. I've also searched to see if a more reputable site have blogged about it but it appears non is Available for now. The take is not only about the authenticity of the blog that posted it but on the lesson we can learn from it frequent occurrence where people hit a jackpot or win an outrageous amount from a bet and faints or die the next moment.

Certainly. The aim of gambling is to win huge and feel the impact of the labour of staking and not just waste of time. This is not to say you have to be dependent on gambling and putting all your problems on the probability of winning but at the same time you have to expect big winning too.

2. How much can come into your account at a spot that can cause you to collapse instantly

No amount of profit can make me collapse rather I should be happy and not over excited because that is what increases the chances of going into such seizure. So I can't collapse because of any huge winning or amount of money.

3. How can we prepare for cases where you suddenly win a jackpot that's huge and you know that your mind can't carry that amount of money?

By realising that the luck can shine on you one day. So accept every potential winning as money waiting to be received.  Grin

The case of gamblers hitting a huge jackpot and later dying out of the excitement didn't start today. It has been happening for long. If we should search on the internet, we will find many cases of such scenarios that the Internet has reported. But in this case, the internet hasn't carried such information about the collapsed man who later died in Oko Anambra, Nigeria.

To me, this is very pitiful that someone's actual time of breakthrough of winning a huge amount in gambling is what leads to their death. Many times, huge payouts from gambling are what many gamblers want, and they forget to note how prepared they are in terms of their heart system to withstand a cardiac arrest, which boils out to sudden extreme excitement.

But speaking about myself, I am ready for any amount that may be in my future winnings. My nervous system is strong enough for such joys, so I am ready to test this on my own experience with peace of mind.
But seriously, yes, sometimes our emotions can be so strong, and it is not always sad news, but also happy events, as the facts show, are sometimes the last feelings in people's lives.
What advice can you give to overly emotional people? Imagine everything so real; play out all the feelings so that in the event of a real win, you are ready, and you do not have a heart attack.

It’s probably worth so much that it gave him a heart attack that is worth his life, literally. I think it’s unfortunate for him, but maybe he also has other complications that made it happen. I think it’s not just emotionally ready but physically because he might have some underlying conditions, you know.

What that is very important is to have the bet slip or able to access the deceased account. This can be done if his email address is known and which can be used to access his account. Or if they have the bet slip, they can take it to the agent to claim the amount won.
You are correct. Unfortunately, if no family member representative shows up, the the agent if he is a person of low moral standard can claim it on the deceased behalf and retired to some island in the Caribbean. On a serious note, I am beginning to think if we have seen a similar situation in the past and what the outcome was. If anyone has a link to a past story like this, please share it. Thank you.

This is the reason why people need to stay calm at all times, and I have always said it, gambling and lotteries are not good for people with severe health conditions or extreme emotions. When a person has extreme emotions which means they get to an extreme level with every emotion, they tend to have a higher risk of getting an heart-attack or something similar that can be very dangerous for them if they are surprised or shocked.

1. Do you stake to win an amount you're not emotionally ready to receive?

I stake to receive amounts that might make a change in my life, but I'm always emotionally ready for that.

2. How much can come into your account at a spot that can cause you to collapse instantly

I know that if I see an extremely large amount enter my account, I will have mixed emotions, but I'm pretty sure I have enough patience to get through it.

3. How can we prepare for cases where you suddenly win a jackpot that's huge and you know that your mind can't carry that amount of money?

Just stay calm, one should prepare their brain for such things in advance. When you are into gambling and lotteries, you should know that you can either lose or win large sums of money all of a sudden, so be prepared for it so that you don't lose your mind when it happens.

The thing there is that, since the matter have become a public opinion matter and already on social media, if truly this story is true, then the deceased family are going to claim the winning and if he has placed the bet in an online gambling site, then that means there is the need to know his log in details and also have access to his bank account since the money can not be withdrawn into a third party accounts.

I hope this story is just a social media fake news and did not happen in real life, if not the chances that this wining will definitely not get withdrawn and the casino walking away is quite high since not many people reveal their accounts details to others.

I have read about a similar type of story in this forum. However, adding a link to the story will make it more exciting because some people might want to read more about the incident. And these days social media is filled with several fake news. I suspect the individual might have had some health challenges that made him collapse and die.

Quote
1. Do you stake to win an amount you're not emotionally ready to receive?

I don't normally stake with a high amount, but I still expect to hit the jackpot and win big. And I am very healthy both physically and emotionally to receive any amount.

Quote
2. How much can come into your account at a spot that can cause you to collapse instantly

I might be overjoyed that it might make me do the unusual, but I don't think any amount can make me collapse. I can handle any amount I win.

Winning jackpots happen suddenly, in some cases, you are not prepared for it. But we need to be healthy before gambling big because a loss or win may trigger sicknesses to become fatal. People with heart and respiratory problems or high blood pressure should gamble responsibly and always be medically fit before gambling.

There have been cases like this which I have came across here in our country and I know it's so shocking receiving an amount we didn't plan for. Like I does, when gambling I do open my heart to be able to receive any amount to win. In fact I am always prepared for winning because I know this is gambling and anything is extremely possible, and gambling can change the story of a man overnight so in this case I always get ready for any outcome.

Here's some edits to make:
1) resize the image to make it smaller.
2) Convert the figure in Nigerian Naira to dollars which can be better by other users here.

My comments.

What that is more relevant about this would be the link and not the image. Post the link.

1. Do you stake to win an amount you're not emotionally ready to receive?
I have done it several times in the past on betting sites but I lost all, but I used small amount of money. The chance that I can win is little.

2. How much can come into your account at a spot that can cause you to collapse instantly
I can not collapse.
