Honestly these gamblers become manipulators at one stage, they cannot live without having money to spend, much like a withdrawal on not gambling and they attempt to find sources of money - easy targets are close friends and family, money-lenders and then online plebs.
It would be better for them to just swallow up the loss and get treated for their gambling addiction with professional help.
You have got a fair point there, it would not be the first time someone on internet abuse of their fan base in order to milk them out their money and continue to gamble away.
I recall the case of a Twitch streamer who started to gamble, grew desperate and started to ask for loans to their fans, family and friends. It was quite an scandal.
The worst is that there is people who actually fall for the trap some golddiggers setup... I would dare to say a gambler golddigger is way worse than a regular one.
