This is just the basics, but anyone should be aware of it:

Budget: set it BEFORE you start gambling and stick to it.
Have a break from time to time, it is important to let your brain stop and consider.
Avoid drugs / drink as much as possible, they will make you loose some control innevitably.
Seek help if you feel you are no longer in control. Make a phone call to a friend or go out and speak with someone.

Anything else anyone can think of? Like... read this post before gambling? Tongue
Set the limit to the budget. I reckon people should have a budget set for entertainment or money set for expenses you'd use to spend for yourself, take a small amount from that instead of separating it.

It might also be useful to read self-exclusion terms in a casino, maybe try to put it in a easy to access button like bookmarks (or anything if you have something easier and faster).

Lastly, don't be dumb enough to chase for wins/losses. Just take what you can get imo. It's not a job, sure you can feel frustrated if you lose but limit it to that.
Gambling should never be a means to give you a fixed amount of returns, but it’s always just an avenue for fun and pleasure. That is the reason why we don’t have to gamble all our hard-earned money because of the mindset to make it double or triple, spending just a minimal amount to satisfy gambling experience is already enough. But if you see yourself hard to control anymore, then take a break and stop gambling. Gambling should never create a pressure on you, since it’s never designed to be an income provider but just for entertainment purposes only.

Well, this are really good piece of advice  and one I recommend every gambler to read every days before going into gambling..

And to add, one thing that have really helped me scale as a gambler, is the ability to always consider money set aside for gambling as lost money, though some times, I tell end up making profit through my wins in the gamble, but several other times I lose, it is always easy for me to bear, since I've already considered the money lost before using it to gamble.

1.I don't really think that setting a budget would stop a gambler to become addicted. Having big wins at the beginning is what makes a gambler get addicted. This has nothing to do with setting a budget and sticking to that budget.
2.The gambling addicts could also take a break from gambling, but that doesn't help them to fight their addiction and re-evaluate their wrong decisions. Most gambling addicts have a lack of self-awareness and simply taking a break won't help in becoming more self-aware.
At the end of the day, there's no "red pill" that would keep the gamblers away from addiction. Everything is about mentality and being aware of your own behavior.

I've seen people run out to a pawn shop to sell their watch just to get money for another round because they reached daily limits on their ATM withdrawals. Setting a budget helps only until you get addicted so much that you completely lose control.
All the advice by OP is great and works, but only until you reach a point where you can no longer limit yourself. For instance, a normal gambler casually sits at the table and walks away after an hour or two, can leave the table after a win or a loss and feels fine regardless of the result. A light addict can't stop as long as he has money. When he loses everything is when the fun ends and he keeps thinking about ways to make the money back all the time. A hard addict doesn't leave the casino, he's taken out because he's drunk, out of money, or arguing and starting fights.
I think it's normal on physical casino to have addicts like that. Spending all of their fortunes even if they shouldn't. I've also seen on in a physical casino but the gambling addict that I saw is selling his car to his opponent in a poker match. It's crazy to see one in person really, It's just like a movie scene. I been an addict but I didn't came to that point that I'm selling my belongings to just continue to gamble. This kind of addicts are helpless and needs a huge amount of time to stop their crazy gambling habits. They will realize all their mistakes after they lost everything and will start from scratch.
Regrets do always come at the end and there's no way that each person does have the same actions or decisions to be made on the time that they would really be on this condition or situation.

When it comes to spending their money then just let them be, its their money or possession which they are risking into. For us people who do have that proper thinking and aware about things around, then these kind of actions does really indicate that addiction on this time is really on severe manner which they should really be looking or mindful into on stopping it before things becomes even more worst.
Always set out limits when it comes to your finances or on the time that you do gamble. Dont tend to go beyond those limit lines because if you do then this is where problem do starts.

Gambling industry becomes even more bigger and profitable just because there are lots of people who do play and spent out like a mad man on their gambling activity.
This is really that a personal decision on how you would be treating gambling in the first place because not all would really be good on doing so.

1. No one knows you better than yourself, if you are the type that finds it very hard to control yourself in gambling you need to stop .

Even the gamblers do not know themselves. They lose their self control and ability to think while playing gambling. I do not know why this happens but this is true for many gamblers. When you win big money or lose some big amount, you're totally in control of your emotions.  Sad

2. Do not try to build something with gambling, do not come up with a thought of buying a car or a house with gambling, once you do, you just got hypnotized into gambling addiction, and you probably won't ever get out of it.

Tell me any gamblers who has been able to change their fortune? Who was poor before and due to gambling he has become a millionaire. They may be very few such cases but mostly people lose money in gambling than winning. This is why we can play gambling for fun but don't think that gambling can give you constant income to buy the luxuries of life.

If you are into gambling and you can control yourself, mate you can achieve anything in this life, the most common problem with gamblers is addiction and it's not easy to control because we all have something we want to achieve.

when I play I always set an budget before starting to play, something like 10$ and then I start playing and when I lose everything I stop playing until the following week and I get another 10$, but if for example I put 10 $ and I win, so it's more money to prolong the days I play, when 5 months go by I stop playing for a few months, it helps me to have better self-control, I'm just watching the games, the results of the games, but I don't place any bets on any games for months. I also do not create any expectation of making profits from gambling, because making profits from gambling is something impossible

gambling is just for fun, there is nothing in gambling that makes the person earn constant profits, the person can use all kinds of strategies, but nothing will work, even making muitibet bets with odds of @ 1.10 or more, but even if the person hits 2 or 3 bets later, the person will have a big losing streak that will even be at a loss and which will make him have to put money in the casino again, and then he will lose and put more money in the casino, this is a sequence that doesn't change, in the end the money we put in the casino is just to lose playing. the only good we have is fun

A good advice sir, and that must be done before gambling so that what we do in gambling can be controlled.

Resting from time to time is something that needs to be done either after getting a victory or defeat to raise what turbulent in our lust and mind, stop for a moment will make the mind more fresh and aware again.
I think it is necessary to add points that may help so as not to do excessive gambling.
Among them to tell first friends or closest people when going to gambling so that if there is excess emotions the closest person can remind him and force us to stop, to be honest alone it will be more dangerous even though we have made the previous principle.

Resting is important, especially if we are experiencing too many intense feelings while gambling. We should take a break to rejuvenate in order to prevent burnout from our ongoing losses. If we keep betting after a losing streak, we could become too emotional and let our undesirable feelings rule us. Even when we are winning, it is crucial that we know when to stop. Because most of us experience overwhelm on a regular basis and don't know how to handle it, we often mistakenly feel greedy.
We frequently battle our emotions when we gamble, so we must learn to manage them carefully to prevent them from taking control of our gambling session.

Great op. All your suggestions are good and effective.  Gambling is a deadly addiction and it makes one lucky but most of the gamblers suffer a lot and lose all their savings. So if these suggestions are followed before starting gambling, maybe a gambler will be aware and avoid big losses. I think it will be most important and effective to make the budget limited in particular. I appreciate your advice

*Don't play in a casino that doesn't have an instant withdrawal feature because you will lose it all due to impatience. It's normal for a gambler to become impatient after having a solid gambling game. You should plan ahead based on your mental state after gambling.

*Have a time limit on gambling aside from the max budget. Determine your duration of gambling so that you can still think appropriately despite being soaked in gambling. Limit yourself on that time to make sure that your decision is always logical and not emotional.

*Lastly, Have fun, If the game already makes you swear then stop immediately because that's a clear sign of stress.

Overall, great tips to remember but I hope poeple/gamblers should take it seriously about the drugs and alcohol part, there are articles that I have read in the past that a lot of gamblers use alcohol and drugs as a coping mechanism for their gambling problems and as a result, it further worsens the problem, not only they have become gambling addicts, they also became an alcoholic or a drug addict too.

just an addition to the budget part, never use the money you can't afford to lose as a budget for your gambling.

Setting a sufficient budget doesn't guarantee that you won't gamble, but having that mindset from the start will help you restrain your urges regardless of the outcome of the game. You will be able to create limitations and manage your finances because, in today's society, those who struggle with managing their finances when it comes to gambling frequently develop gambling addictions.
It is also true that someone shouldn't bet while they are intoxicated because they can make poor decisions that they'll later regret. When gambling, it's crucial to have a proper frame of mind so we can concentrate and make wise choices. I once gambled while intoxicated because I believed I might be luckier and braver when it comes to taking risks, but I regret doing so because I lost all of the money I had set aside for that particular day of gambling. To be successful in our gaming endeavors, self-control and discipline are absolutely necessary.

This is just the basics, but anyone should be aware of it:
We are aware, lately there have been many cases that I have seen people act beyond common sense by ending their lives, the main factor is losing in online gambling bets, In my area gambling has become commonplace and an open secret, where young people and adults are not spared from online gambling addiction, maybe what you said has some truth.

I believe what you say, the way to do it is up to ourselves, they must really know what the purpose of gambling is, emotions, greed, lust often make users who gamble online, forget the things you mentioned above, in the end they are always trapped in a black world circle.

Addition: remembering means we are safe, not remembering means we are doomed, don't gamble that controls you, let you control the gambling.

Playing other games on Steam can be a viable alternative when your girlfriend or friends are unavailable.
That's one good way to make yourself busy, and it's an effective option to soak up most of your free time so you can shift your focus to something else instead of gambling.

Question is; how would a gambler see if he/she is betting too fr than they suppose to? Problem is lack of awareness.
I agree, and one thing I did to increase that awareness is to track my bets and transactions through a spreadsheet. It requires a bit of effort, but it's worth the extra step if it can help me maintain my gambling activities from going overboard.

This is a typical  recall to stay in control and not get addicted.
But I also think that the issue of having a budget is one of the major challenges gamblers are facing now in the industry  and there are cases where people loss control as a result of losses and most times it seems impossible  to stay in control as one might tend to want to chase losses especially  as a newbie or when one couldn't afford them go of their losses.

Taking a break should be preached more in order to keep tye mental and emotional health  and state always in check and I think more sensitization should be preached on this.

So much depends on how you control your level of excitement, even if you set a budget, even if you break from time to time, and even if you avoid drugs or drinks if you cannot control your level of excitement, you will likely continue to gamble even if you already lose your allocation.

so if you are going to allocate be sure you have a method to lengthen your session so you can control your level of excitement along the way, if you fail to do this, you will have a hard time controlling your urge, and you know the urge is very powerful and cannot be stopped easily.

This is a nice call paxmao, and I would like to add some points.

*Do smart gambling and not emotional gambling.
The feeling of a win coming soon is what makes us lose all, and is better to walk away with something than walk away with empty hands.

*Learn how to lose.
Don't let your loss ruin your day, take the loss as an adult and move on in life because to lose is part of gambling and we need to know how to deal with it.

*Gamble to have fun and not to make money.
The money is a consequence, enjoy your bets and have fun while gambling, because playing to chase money could be frustrating.

Advice? I guess it is to not be dependent with gambling money in the first place. Avoid being dragged into the idea that gambling could make you rich someday. I believe this is where all emotions in this industry comes from.
Yes, usually people always think that gambling will make you rich and can be a place to make a living, even though this is clearly not true at all, if anything in this world maybe not more than 1% are consistent and get rich because of gambling in casinos, right what do you say, that it all started there from the desire to make a living or get rich through casino games.

My advice is also never to be tempted by people's invitations about gambling that it makes you rich and able to make a living, because basically the person who invites it just wants to get a referral bonus so he is willing to give sweet inducements to his victims, no one can get rich from gambling .  Wink
