I signed up to buy a few machines via Paypal. Then they remove the option to use Paypal. I ask for a refund in private message to Fiaz because they changed their terms.

The response?

I was permanently banned from the forums.

Now I am unable to contact them. Can someone please send Fiaz a message on their forums asking why this happened?

Seems to be so much negative stuff on here I just wanted to put in a positive word for Alpha. So my situation is I had two Vipers on pre-order then ran out of cash. I cancelled both, at different times. First I thought I could hang on to one then didn't have enough for that either. Alpha have been prompt and courteous in refunding me on both occasions even though I have been a bit of a nightmare customer! To the haters - if you don't like the warranty, don't buy the product. And don't buy the product if you don't want the risk - nobody is FORCING you to buy anything ffs! So stop whingeing like a bunch of babies, make a decision like grown-ups do and own it. Good luck Alpha and those of you that are still in the running - hope you all make sacks of coin.

The product is in development it's not finished. They state one thing and warrant another. Plus it's not like something out of the ordinary

1. All other customers are getting 1year
2. This is a premium product paid for with thousands of dollars

Another example: regardless what Apple says, you don't need to buy extra warranty for your Mac or iPhone. You paid premium for that and as a customer you are entitled to expect the durability of a premium product and the manufacturer must comply. Google is your friend

It was advertised from day 1 with a 6 month warranty.
If you don't like that, don't buy it.
I see no "reasonable" argument here.

Clueless!
MS supports every Windows issue for 10 years, during that time there were several versions issued

When you buy a brand new car, you get 5 years warranty, during that period there will be 5 new models of the SAME car

When you buy a Dell professional workstation you get 3 years warranty next day pick up and replacement. In 3 years your workstation would nevertheless be obsolete

If you buy a 65nm ASIC miner from Butterfly Labs, you get lifetime warranty meaning for as long as they sell it on their website, with minimum guarantee 1 year so if you but today and they remove it tomorrow you get one year

The fact that after 6 months you will have a new product has nothing to do with the fact that i have a product from you that i am conerned about and i need to make sure i can get it fixed if it breaks down after 10 months from purchase

I do not intend to throw away the hardware after 6 months, please do not count me in this statistics of your business model. Allow for good 3 years as per your and you MD's expectations.

ie knc 12 month warrenty

also i can mine a lot of alts longer then 6 months and still  make plenty of $$$ vs elec well into the 2nd year imho.....

my 2c worth

I would like to ask if the statement by the managing director about the unit being industrial grade and will renmain in use until it is no longer needed supersedes their 6 months warranty which is my main point of concern

Hi, we expect the devices to last for at least 3 years if not longer.

Could you give us a 2,5 year warranty then ?

There is no point in this as in 2.5 years we would have had 4 5 6 products out, in this fast moving industry mining hardware becomes obsolete relatively quickly and our batch 2 may be released around 6 months after batch 1 so there is no point in having longer warranty. It makes no business sense supporting older hardware, we will support them for 6 months after they have been manufactured/shipped and they are industrial grade components that we are using as such they will easily last for years.

If there is no point then give the warranty ... unless you dont want to stand by your product

6 Months is a Bullshit call from your company. How dare you slap us in the face with a crap warranty like that?? If your not going to stand behind your product, then refund everyone's money now and give up. This is disgraceful.

This makes no sense. That's not what warranty means.

Warranty is to make sure people get what they pay for. I pay for the hardware, not your estimate of how long it will remain realistic to use it. You may call it obsolete when 3 times more efficient ASICS are sold, but maybe I don't want to buy a new one because ( for example ) I have free power that I generate myself.

So if you say it's easily last for years, put your money where your mouth is or admit that you don't have a clue how long it'll work.

Seems like a very empty promise doesn't it? You say 3 years, the guy says ok put 2.5 in writing, you disappear.

You've been avoiding an above the table answer to this question all along. Is there is someone in your company who can give black and white answer so we get this overvand done with. Note industrisl grafe work in 55deg ambient 24/7 and is robust to power fluctuations +-25%

If I'm honest that doesn't sound so clever. I'd get an answer from Alpha asap, if you don't get the response you require from them start the CCJ & Sheriff approach.

Fingers crossed.

I'm UK too, but hopefully won't have to go down this route......
echeque refund cancelled, however refund to my credit card for my cancelled orders has just been processed...
I guess they are just trying to keep up with the no doubt mountain of admin work involved....
all good
Glad to hear it's sorted.

Anyone who has requested a refund from Alpha-T....
Has anyone who has paid with Paypal, received an actual refund yet?
Thanks

I finally received my refund this morning.

Noting I placed my refund request originally on Wednesday 19th and after a round or two of are you sure type questions my request was formally processed by Alpha on Friday the 21st March, it was then on hold pending the 28th. I assume this was to coincide with reopening of batch 1 orders. Not sure why this was necessary other than a cash flow question (to be honest that's not my problem).

Anyway I received my refund today, 75% minus £70 admin fee.

Thanks and good luck to you all.
Thanks.
Was this via a Paypal refund?

Correct.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'll wait patiently for a few more days.

think with another call from paypal you can get the other 25% back...terms of service for a merchant selling on paypal is that they ship within 45 days ..if not...they violated the TOS and you can get a full refund...call and ask ..i'm sure this is why alpha will no longer take paypal for their new customer orders

Does this assume that you make the claim within a set timeframe... 45 days ?
Well....my request was after the 45 days, and I was unable to use PayPal to process the dispute claim (because it was over 45 days since the transaction, PayPal automatically rejected it).
I made the claim to A.T who "processed" it 7 days ago, which showed up in my PayPal account as an eCheque i.e being funded by their bank account.
This has subsequently shown up today in my PayPal account as "Cancelled - the funds have been returned to the sender".
Bit odd...
Awaiting a reply from A.T
