I'm looking forward to VIPER.  I hope Alpha Technology (AT) will consider doing something no other mining hardware manufacturer (that I know of) is doing - provide the option to purchase pre-orders through an escrow service.

This may require seeking venture capital or paying out-of-pocket to fund first batch manufacturing, but the benefits (in my opinion) would far outweigh those costs for legitimate businesses.  By offering a purchase through escrow option, AT could:
- guarantee buyers a full refund if products/services are not delivered as promised.  This should alleviate at least some concerns for potential buyers who are 'on the fence' and/or have been 'burned before' by companies that were either scams to begin with or just fell apart
- protect themselves from fraudulent chargebacks
- set a new gold standard for how mining manufacturers handle pre-orders

Everybody wins.

Going one step further, if AT offers a full one-year warranty (unlike Cointerra's 30 day warranty) and price reduction protection (several companies do this), that would seal the deal.

Fingers crossed.

They offer paypal paying options for pre-orders, if this may be of an interest.

Looking back I can't recall an instance where has India ever been the first with ANY electronics. Hope this is not a scam but it looks shady as heck. You gotta know there have been Chinese companies working on a Scrypt ASIC since the announcement of LTC and other Scrypt based coins. China is the electronic epicenter of the world and they would have any and all electronics at their disposal along with all the factories to produce supporting components, I just don't see the Indians beating them (no offense to our Indian members).

although all the electronics are manufactured in China, they are not designed in China you know. I dont know of any CPU , GPU, FPGA, ASIC that has been designed in China.

Dexcel Electronic Designs is our main partner in the design and manufacturing of our Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miners. Headquartered in Bangalore,  India

That right there should set off alarm bells.

Well I am very skeptical also, afraid this could be the next butterfly labs or even worse, but heey could  be the next KNC also  , that why I called  it a longshot, I think this a heads or tails gamble.

But  why would this company in India , http://www.dexceldesigns.com/  , a design company set off alarm bells, what's wrong with this company?  do they have a bad reputation ?

seems to me this Aisc miner is a longshot.

They are a new company, that no one ever heard off before, they have not produced a BTC asic miner before ,they accept BTC only, wont do paypal (where you could get your money back) and they wont do escrow.

So the deal is: send us your BTC and we will send you the most amazing scrybt ASIC miner, that nobody else has got, some time in the near future

....just my 2 satoshis

I see the specs and estimated time and everything, but there hasn't been any hints towards price that I have seen to date.  Huh The twitter account said the specs and price would be released.  Any word on cost?

Taking advantage of our partners workforce and facilities we expect to start shipping 4-5 months after pre-orders are taken.

Been watching these for a while.  I don't understand how you could force it to only mine ltc.  So many clones that are remarkably similar would make it nearly impossible.. I wouldn't want to mine ltc anyways.. More profitable coins out there by a long shot atm.  Alphatech if you're reading this, if you limit us to purchasing only through bitcoins or even litecoins, you're potentially alienating many potential customers.  Include eskrow, paypay, or a bank transfer combination will cement yourself as a company to emulate.
it will be a scrypt miner so if you point it to the right pool, it will of course mine the coin you want. an ASIC itself dosnt know what coin it is (tough this could be possible but a waste for an ASIC, a CPU/FPGA on the board would/should be doing such things). they just picked "Litecoin" because it was the first coin with it.
also if they are able to produce such a scrypt miner, they cant be stupid enough to limit it to litecoin only Wink

It will be tough to out-do KnC. I pre-ordered one of their 1st gen ASICs and was generally very happy with the process. I really hope Alpha-T will emulate KnC's better practices...

hmm, limited to one alt coin, i am really fearing the thought of how much they will charge for a Viper Miner (25 Mh/s): 5 x Viper Board  and really have no idea how many that will mine a day, or even if ltc will be around in 6 months

Isn't this a Scrypt miner (not a litecoin only miner)? So it should work with any scrypt based alt.
