The last nail to the coffin. 25MH/s price is now about 8k€ for EU customers! I was going to order one but this VAT / import shit bounced the price too much.

Hi Alpha T, you need to revisit your VAT statement for UK customers.

VAT should never be charged twice on a supply. The place of supply is the important factor.

If the goods are supplied to the customer whilst they are outside the UK then no UK VAT is due on the sale. However the customer is liable to pay the import VAT and duty when the goods enter the UK (unless they are below the £18 concession).

If the goods are supplied to the customer within the UK then the UK Trader will be responsible for paying the import VAT and Duty as the goods enter the UK (the £18 concession is also available). The UK trader will be able to reclaim the VAT on its VAT return and will charge VAT on the sale to the customer as normal.

The end effect should therefore be the same (unless the £18 concession applies) regardless of the route.

In theory the place of supply is where the goods are at the time that legal title / financial responsibility is transfered. i.e. overseas if the delivery is ex-works or in the UK if it is CIF. However, in practice provided someone pays the VAT and duty upon importation as the "importer of record" HMRC aren't to worried about technicalities like that.

As VAT registered company I do not want to be paying VAT twice, once from your invoice and secondly from import duty. As you have stated these goods are being fulfilled from outside the EU and therefore zero rate will apply.

Please amend your statement. Also sent an email to you website contact with the same.

Thanks.

snip..

8906 USD for 25 MH/s = 29 graphics card (280x) for about 300 USD each. 22 MH/s.

snip..

In my country electrical power is so cheap I dont even notice any diffrent on my power bill if its using 100 or 1500+ watt.

ASIC miners are only created for one solid purpose which means they will be very hard to sell if a new ASIC resistant proof of work algorithm is created.

After GPU mining is no longer profitable selling computer parts will be easy even if you dont get full retail value back.

Option 1:

Buy 30 graphics cards NOW. Hash at 22 MH/s for the next 6 months netting you ~200 LTC per month at current difficulty. 1200LTC in those 6 months is worth around $24,000 now. Deduct 10% for electricity gives a net profit of $21,600. At the end of 6 months your mining rigs will have retained approx 75% of their original value. You are happy.

Option 2:

Hand over your money or coins to Alpha-t. Wait 6 months with zero hash. Product is maybe delivered in 6+ months
Hope to hell difficulty isn't too high or exchange rates too low to ROI.
Hope to hell the sycrpt coin devs dont hard fork to change the algo just enough to brick these ASICS.
Stress and anguish await you on your quest to ROI

No brainer

Alpha-T are pricing themselves out of the market. Only idiots and n00bs will buy this. I am sure there are enough out there for them to sell out their first batch. They will now be referred to as 'Alpha-t bag holders'

(figures are estimates based on my own GPU rig costs, your milage may vary)

EDIT:

Option 3

Try your luck with SAI. Buy enough shares in their company to get into the first batch. Pay GBP 800 for 25 MH/s. Hope to hell they can deliver as promised (in February?!?). If at any point you lose your cool, sell shares and recoup some costs. They are not accepting pre-orders so you will not be asked to pay for the miner until they are ready to ship.

Keep cool guys, we have within the EU this distance selling regulations.
"We refund 50% of deposit" has no relevance.

DSR is 14 days after receipt of item.  You have the right to cancel at any time prior to delivery.

However, no regulation is going to save you if they high tail off with your money and vanish.

Initiate a charge back on your credit card, its that easy. Till the merchant gets blacklisted.
It will take a lot of arguing with the credit card companies. Visa only covers 120 days (4 months) after purchase.

Alpha-T has said that they will ship 5-6 months after pre-orders finish.

Scrypt was developed as ASIC unfriendly. Bitcoin was not. When something is meant to be unfriendly then is legal and necessary to avoid any breakout of that state. I think there is a possibility to make scrypt coins asic unfriendly again, just by changing the source code. Its possible to change source code of many cryptos if biggest pools allow that. Then nobody will try to build up ASIC scam / ponzi scheme again. I personally will switch to the new currency which will be resistant to  scrypt asic because crypto should belong to huge amount of people not to be controlled by few companies.

This is a scam. I hope people are aware of BFL scam with SHA-256 ASIC
Last month there was a conference in London and thousands of people are waiting for a scrypt ASIC, where were you? Probably playing videogames.
And the India idea? Look at India reaction to cryptos today.. LOL

Me, Myself & I
Why would You sell 5MH/s unit for 1350 GBP, when it would make 1450 GBP/month mining DOGE for ex. at this moment?
With these prices it won't be this profitable in a week.
Will You borrow me Your crystal ball for some time?  Shocked I would also like to know the future as You do...

Altruisam? Or You will "test" them for a month before? Maybe two months. Or three. And the delivery will be ethernal "two weeks".
Anyhow I'll buy one. If you accept payment one month after delivery.

My Biggest issue here Alpha is that you base your price of GPU prices.

If they shipped now, price would be ok. But to ship in Q2 or even Q3 would mean that price should be lower. Also there is no resale value with purpose built miners. Therefore price should be considerably lower compared to gpu.  Of course power consumption is lower but there is almost zero performance advantage in calculation power compared to GPU for the price. With current prices electricity cost is about 10% of the scrypt income. Therefore income has to shrink to 10% from current levels before GPUs stop coming to hashing!! There is also other scrypt asics in development but no anything close to shipping date from others.

Edit:6 month warranty is also no good when it takes over a year to make profit

I think I will stick with GPUs for now, atleast I can benchmark them when I drink beer and get bored.
