Investing in altcoins at this time of the market is quite slow but if you are actually investing with huge funds then you can make some little profits from time to time. The reason why i am saying this is because the rise and fall of the altcoins are not really huge and so investing with some small amounts would not fetch you much. Also, if you want to invest then invest into altcoins that are within the first 20 on Coinmarket Cap.

One thing i always use is that the availability in the CMC site page, there are lots of goods tokens or coins listed their, i mean try to scan on it, you will see which coins is mostly traded from there you can finalize which coins you gonna invest.

I understand you're not very experienced at the crypto market. So do not take the risk and choose the coins in the top 20. Don't work on shit coins because of their imbalance.

Popularity should become an important thing but it will be useless if there will be no a proper development progress. Some tokens are not so popular among the crypto users like everex did very well by increasing more than 150% just in a night
