most cheap coins are known to be risky therfor you cant say that they are suitable for a hodler . if you are looking for sure benefits then why cant you just invest directly on top altcoins such as etherium or top crypto such as bitcoin ? in that way you can minimize your risk of getting scammed while you can also earn sure profit if the coins will increase .

now for the question if altcoins are right for investment , id say what kind of altcoins ? because altcoins is only a general term for different cryptos . @op can you be more specific next time ? so that we can give you a better suggestion .

I invest in cryptocurrency when the price at low price, i also see the price, the news, and the popularity on coinmarketcap.

Before investing in cryptocurrency, you should check first which coin/token that good to invest, join their telegram group to check information about coins and tokens.

Don't look on price. Whether its high or cheap it doesn't matter, what matter is if the project has a good performance in terms of product or services. Check out bitmax exchange, I can see a bright future for them since they introduced a lot of services other crypto exchange wouldn't give. I assume it is one of the greatest exchange next to binance. Popularity is also affecting since trend is nature based now for all people.

In the past when I am in my beginning time knew cryptocurrency, I choose altcoin because of the low price so I can be able to buy a large amount. But then, I realize that to invest in altcoin, and I need to know the project and how good the project. So I learn and read any information on their website, and if I feel that their project could the next potential altcoin that can give me a big profit, then I will buy the coin.

And now, I don't think that the low price is not good to invest because we don't know how big they will in the future so sometimes, I still choose the low price to invest. I don't have to use too big money to buy, and I have the patience to wait for the price to increase in the future, I can hold it on my wallet. Oh, by the way, don't forget to moves the altcoin into offline wallet just in case you want to hold for a long time and don't save in the exchanges.

The popularity could be another option for me, but it could be a good idea if you can see that if one coin has a low price, but it's popular in the market, then the coin will have a bigger chance to increase. So you need to consider to buy that coin too although you could only buy for a small amount.

There are a lot of investment opportunities in altcoin but finding the right one will exert effort because you need to research everything from team to coins usage and many more. You just not put your money because your friends tells you. I always go if the team is good or always update what's going on their project, usage of the altcoin is very important too and i don't go by popularity because sometimes the altcoin get hype in just a short time then go deep in the long run.

Those are my criterias for investing. One of the last coins I invesred in was Agent not Needed (ANN). Their usecase and product currently boom in the UK, huge partnerships around the world are coming.

Both price and team involvement are the things need to be consider before investing. We know how risk in crypto and we should have to be careful, and of course assurance to have profit with our investment.

Only we have to do is to spend more time searching and also looking feedbacks which could be our basis and of what altcoins we should have to invest.

Price and popularity aren't the very thing that you should consider when you invest to the right altcoin. Include a basis on how's the usefulness of that coin. If that coin is obviously worthless, you should stop looking to that coin.

It's basically the best way to know if that altcoin you are interested with is right or wrong. And before investing to altcoins, have you vested your money first with bitcoin? if you haven't done that you need to do it ASAP if you don't have bitcoin on your stash.

You don't just consider only the current price of that particular coin to make your investment decisions. Follow its one week or month chart and see if that is a good price for you to enter. You should also consider the activeness of the team in developing the project and not just its popularity

i dont think just invest in altcoins will bring us much better profit because i think if we keep investing in both BTC and altcoins will give us a greater chance to get high profit because BTC is still more often to be pumped than other altcoins, also having altcoins will give us the oppotunity to our profit when they rise higher in the future.
