I think many coins will not survive after 3 years. For this reason the coins with very good project should be chosen and the number should not be less. For example, you bought three coins, but all three of them can be dead at the end of three years, but if you buy ten and let's say half of them are scams, but the rest of them will be enough for you.
What you've mentioned like OMG and NEO is a good and potential coin and Bitquance and XVG are the next good and potential coin. NEO is the right choice. current development of NEO many interested and this certainly will make NEO will also be more and potentially in the issue price in the next few years. but do not forget also the ethereum and ripple also has the potential for subsequent years.
Ambrosus is probably the best coin to hold for 2-3 years. They are a supply chain blockchain that's working with some of the biggest food & pharmaceutical companies in the industry. Migros ($30B annual revenue) is already running their products on AMB's blockchain. AMB is criminally undervalued at current price, and in 2-3 years it will easily be worth 10 - 20B market cap (So almost 150x current price)

I was asking myself what to do when cryptocurrency goes down and found out that the most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.
The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

the coins are now after the ICO has finished its price continues to rise, unlike the coins on which usually always fall when after the ICO is completed. So these coins I think worth to be HOLD.

If you can afford to invest in ethereum then you should start as soon as possible especially right now because it's value is dipping . Ethereum is one of the great coin when it comes in long term investment and it has a outstanding credibility in the market so you don't need to worry about it's legitimacy.

Best coins for 2-3 year holding are masternode coins. You hold them and at the same time and with almost none expences you earn passive income from them. The tricky part is finding a good coin which doesn't cost as much to set a masternode,has strong fundamentals so it'll be able to survive those 2-3 years and increases in price so your holding is worth it. You should research and read about the new or upcoming masternode coins and pick one (or even several) you believe in. The rest is holding,hoping and earning.

i think that buying some cryptos to run a masternode is risky because the roi is not guaranteed, the coin might crash and loose a lot of value and maybe there will never be enough transactions to get some decent gains. said that some coins are lucky and might give you a lot of profits like dash in the past year! For the op i can suggest you to invest in some new blockchain that can explode in the next period like universa or wanchain, the blockchain are the coins with the hightest roi
