In fact, there are a lot of applications for games, including casinos for fake money, and of course they can be used to spend time, but it seems to me that this cannot help an avid gambler to stop gambling, because the main goal of the game for him is to get real money.

Yeah you guys are right from that perspective. I guess its the same with trading too. We trade with small amounts in the beginning but as we start to make big profits our greed increases.
We tend to start making trades with bigger amounts and the same happens in betting and gambling.

I think it actually depends. Because to some people, playing in demo mode helps them practice and be better. Demo mode do not involve money so you can practice and strategize without the fear of losing so much because you are just a newbie.

Deeply saying is just like a demo app where one can practice but I will say something about my experience when trying to use app to practice. For instance I was actually trading on demo but when I went live it wasn't the same as on demo.
I was making cool cash and building up my account with that skill I thought I have mastered it and wanting to go live, which I did but same week I lost all my funds and was left with nothing

My point of view is like this : those casinos with a tagline ' we offer to play with fake money to reduce an addicting to gamble' lol you are luring people to get addicted even more! As once you tried any kind form of gambling with even a fake money .. people would believe that they are always winning in the fake money rounds then why not to give a shot in real money to get easy money as you guys mentioned above that in your community .. the money is hard earned then why not to try an easy money through gambling , that's my point of view.

People don't waste time in unnecessarily stuff ...rather have some productive activity and earn some real money
That can be even teaching someone - making a small home based garden and selling of at the small level - it will also help you move away from the screen - will be healthy as well
