Start up aeond and let it sync fully. Once it's safe to open simplewallet it will tell you that in aeond. It may take a number of hours to sync fully if it's your first time and you have less then blazing fast internet.  Once it reaches that point you can open simplewallet, but leave aeond open until after you close simplewallet. Always type "exit" in both programs to close them or it won't save things and you will have to resync.

So,

I have made progress here. I was able to sync and get my wallet connected. However, when I did a test withdraw from bittrex I am not seeing the coin show up in my wallet? What are typical transaction times? Maybe this is a bittrex issue? I have "refreshed" a few times and still no change. I am assuming once I run the "aeond.exe" I dont need to run it again with simplewallet running, right? I have left "aeond.exe" open while using the wallet. Is that the right thing to do?

**Edit - I think I may have jumped the gun. It says i am still quite a few blocks behind on my sync. I am assuming I need to be caught up completely before I will be able to see my AEON?

I'm unable to even get to the withdraw section, it's entirely blank for me on Safari/Chrome on Mac.

Does anyone still have problems withdrawing from HitBTC? I still have one Aeons over there that I did not withdraw during the upgrade. I do not mind waiting for 24 hours as along as the coins arrive in my wallet.

Hello everyone! aeond.exe begins to download the entire blockchain in computer memory. Is this how it should be?

Yes, and therefore your computer needs to have enough RAM (at least 6~8GB). This problem will be solved in the near future when the underlying database technology gets replaced.

You can type 'save' in the console and it will save the current downloaded portion to disk and release the memory.

I don't think aeond releases the memory after the 'save' command; it just saves the blockchain to the disc.

Correct. However, what is the case is that once the sync is finished if you disable automatic saving (--disable-save) then you can get by with a lot less memory usage, probably 1-2 GB (as long as you have swap configured for the rest)

Hi guys,

is there any possibility to change directory for blockchain? I tried to run cmd with --data-dir where i moved the blockchain, but it started to download the blockchain from beginning.

Thanks

I just did a test by moving my blockchain file and restarting with --data-dir and it worked fine. Loaded the blockchain from the file in the new location.

New Aeon mining pool 0.2% fees at the minute will probably be lowered.

What was with the recent Aeon price? Classic pump and dump?

No, not really (that I know of). Read the last few pages of this thread and it should be clear that Aeon trading was (mostly) halted for the last few months.. once the exchanges opened their AEON wallets up for deposits and withdrawals, the natural course took place of people getting excited the coin could be traded more liquidly now and those who had it for a long time were excited to be able to finally sell it somewhere.

Don't think there was much p'n'd in this case.. but time will tell if it stabilizes and goes up (my prediction is that it will).

I see that aeon-pool(dot)com has put a notice to encourage miners to mine on other pools in order to help decentralizing the network and prevent a pool from having more than 50% of the entire network's hash. That's a really nice move.

One thing that discourage miners from moving to a different pool is the pending balance below the payment threshold (the so called 'dust'). Even 0.001 AEON will be worth something in the near future.

So, I have a  suggestion to pool operators:

If a miner stops mining on your pool for, let's say, 24 or 48 hours then all the pending balance (no matter how small) should be paid to the miner.

Just my 2 satoshis

I agree that this is a problem, and I like your solution. The only consideration is that the solution should not cost the pool transaction fees. Provided the dust owed to the miner is more than the tx fee, should be good!

You're absolutely right!
But this begs the question: why exactly should a denomination unit be imposed when paying miners? I mean, why not pay everything owed to the miner up until the last decimal in the first place (leaving the miner with a pending balance of 'zero' after each payment)?

Ok probably going to show my naivete a little bit but Ive tried to run both versions of the simple wallet (0.9.13 and 0.9.14) and I keep getting the following error after I type my password:

Error: wallet failed to connect to daemon (http://localhost:11181). Daemon either is not started or passed wrong port. Please, make sure that daemon is running or restart the wallet with correct daemon address.

Open to suggestions here. I'm not really sure how to control this quite honestly.

**edit- I realized I didnt add that I did try the Refresh command. No luck

You need to run aeond, and you need to let it sync (2-48 hours depending on several factors), then you can run your wallet.

Great - Thanks. For some reason I was thinking simplewallet was a way to connect to the network without getting a full sync.

Well, there is a way, by using a public node. There aren't too many of them so far for Aeon, and by using them, you may give up some privacy. Here's a list on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/73829j/public_nodes_new_list/
