Interesting, is it unique POW algo on mainnet?
We will (most likely) be using Tromp's Cuckoo Cycle, which makes it possible to mine on a smart phone. Decentralization++;

so you guys are build on top of the ethereum eth network? or your own blockchain?

FAQ doesn't work
æternity is a new blockchain for scalable smart contracts interfacing with real-world data. Scalability is achieved via turing-complete state channels, which got invented by Zack Hess, our technical lead. The real-world data interface is achieved via featuring a build in decentralized oracle, which gets checked by the consensus. Sidenote: æternity can do cross-chain atomic swaps with the Ethereum network and it can also access any data from Ethereum via the oracle.

FAQ link got fixed. FAQ is on our blog and it went a bit under. FAQ: https://blog.aeternity.com/æternity-frequently-asked-questions-faq-9cb0e34e0740

Interesting project, please give us more information about ICO, merkle trees concept is the innovation, maybe the largest ICO in 2017. Testnet out? Beat it, cheers!

Just wait. They will give. As i know crowdfunding will be in q1-q2 2017. And i think soon they will start Smiley

Algo....?
Algo in Testnet currently is boring SHA256 as a placeholder. Will probably use some version of Tromp's Cuckoo Cycle a little later: https://github.com/tromp/cuckoo later on. Purpose of the testnet is to show how turing complete value transfer in state channel works. Next step is to implement the oracle and a few æpps.

Testnet crashes immediately on Ubuntu 14.04 with correct dependencies.

Hey Samspace Smiley

Sorry to hear this.

it runs well on ubuntu 16.04, maybe the old ubuntu uses an old version of erlang?
