You seem to have implied that the ARCH network itself is insecure because it is POS, that is why I felt so inclined as to remind you that the fault is your own.

Anyway, best of luck to you in the future.

BTW would have been good to discuss this in Slcak but couldn't as we lost our access when the wallets got drained. Catch 22?

I was agreeing with KenChanYu post about POS. Seems he has a point. Not just ARCH but all POS coins that require staking wallets to keep the network running. Does leave the users vunerable to attack, doesn't it?

Staking can never be mainstream because of security risk. To be safe you need VM,linux.... Too much to know for normal person

I agree. This really made me aware that a staking wallet is fair game for hackers.

They only have to run a wallet to get the Peers IP addresses.

Any security hole,  bug unpatched or 0 Day on the host OS and the staking wallet can be compromised.

Was your wallet encrypted, but unlocked 'for staking only'? Or was it entirely unencrypted?

Entirely unencrypted as had been having to move wallets around due to Seagate HDDs failing left right and centre.

Not sure if other users had their wallets encrypted or not.

Sorry, bro, you've got no one or nothing to blame but yourself if that's the case.

Next time encrypt your wallet. You can still move your wallet.dat from HDD to HDD when it's encrypted.

Wow thanks for that. I am blaming myself but I also have to blame the low life who targeted the ARCH holders and hacked some of us.

I realise that in the ideal world I should have the wallet encrypted with some unbreakable password.

However in reality when you have multiple wallets staking and you want a unique password you have to use a password wallet.

I do normally use both for high value coins. In this case the Arch value wasn't that high until a week or two ago and I'd been
fighting failing HDDs on the staking server. Did you know certain Seagate HDDS are have 50% failure rate each year.
Lucky me I had those drives. So I had been doing many restarts and unlocking a whole lot of wallets everytime was not on my priority list.
This weekend the replacement drives were going to get it all sorted

Anyway I learned my lesson the hard way about encrypting wallets.

I was not asking for pity, donations etc, my post was a warning to other ARCH holders to be aware so they don't lose their balance as well.

Meanwhile you might want to keep any eye out for the movement of rich list #47 who has a wallet full of stolen coins.

Do you think he will have his wallent encrypted?

I'm sorry that you got hacked. Encrypting a wallet should be the first thing to do. It's just plain silly to not encrypt it.

Warning to all ARCH wallet users, be aware someone is targeting large ARCH wallets and stealing the coins.

I had 32k ARCH stolen from the staking wallet in this transaction.

Looks to me like someone else has lost 40k in this transaction a short time before mine.

The perp now has almost 74k of ARCH coin in the wallet - AUjc5ZUHh666x9mDDJ1pdKiwXgrf9eedq9

System was Windows 2012 server. Wallet was staking & not encrypted with password due to staking.

Behind dedicated firewall.

Only other coins taken that I've noticed was about 150 XC coins. Had just updated that wallet about an hour before. Not sure if related.

Server was shutdown immediately after noticing theft.

Other ARCH users reporting similar on Twitter.

All ARCH coin holders please take care and CEOs especially. You are being targeted.

You do realize you can stake with an encrypted wallet, right? You just need to unlock it.

Arch is by far the best investment I have made in crypto. Been in since ICO and I highly suggest buying into a CEO position. Also there are some great traders in slack that are willing to share their TA and opinions. Grin

If you want to know some inside info , you need to be CEO - 32k ARCH  Wink

Well, in that case, I should set my buy. It seems like you guys know the answer already Wink

I'm still looking forward for an answer to my question. Smiley

As a CEO I can confirm I already know the answers to your questions but I am not authorized to divulge this information at this time. That matter is still to be voted upon by us CEOs and announced by BTCA

Hmm... interesting. Well hopefully I'll join you guys soon enough. I believe I got bits and pieces from how you've phrased your answer.

Purchase enough to become an ARCH CEO, it will be the best investment decision you will ever make.

There is a wealth of information and knowledge shared in ARCH CEO.  The education alone is worth the investment.
