Hello again all, long time since I have posted here.

I've decided I am going to attempt to hard fork and repair this coin sometime in the next 1-2 weeks.  May as well give it a try, certainly can't be any worse off than it is now.  More info coming soon.

Good common sense slightly aged article here, that Benjamin Franklin would say is very American.

Sadly, impossible in America of today.  Sad

Carrots in the car park. Radishes on the roundabout. The deliciously eccentric story of the town growing ALL its own vegetables

By Vincent Graff
10 December 2011

[...]

They get it now. Obviously a few town-centre vegetable plants — even thousands of them — are not going to feed a community of 15,000 by themselves.

But the police station potatoes act as a recruiting sergeant — to encourage residents to grow their own food at home.

Today, hundreds of townspeople who began by helping themselves to the communal veg are now well on the way to self-sufficiency.

But out on the street, what gets planted where? There’s kindness even in that.

‘The ticket man at the railway station, who was very much loved, was unwell. Before he died, we asked him: “What’s your favourite vegetable, Reg?” It was broccoli. So we planted memorial beds with broccoli at the station. One stop up the line, at Hebden Bridge, they loved Reg, too — and they’ve also planted broccoli in his memory.

[...]

I find myself next to him, sheltering from the driving rain. Why, I ask, would someone forsake the sunshine of California for all this?

His answer sums up what the people around here have achieved.

‘There’s a nobility to growing food and allowing people to share it. There’s a feeling we’re doing something significant rather than just moaning that the state can’t take care of us.

What has value as a concept, accomplished, if it is a ruined concept/phoneme?  How can anything be 'valuable' in this world of debt?  Only feeding people, will matter in 1776 or 2076, imo.

1776 style greetings to you my friends.  Sorry my hash rate disappeared, slight IP interrupton now resolved.

Mine Benjamins with me so that we may ensure that some kind of true money might return to America and the world.  Along with goodness and total destruction of corsets and book hating goons.

Benjamin Franklin may have said:

"Any nation that do not protect the child who loveth books and seeketh to make his own library, is a nation sorely in need of the attention of children to it."

Quote

Boy Forced by City to Remove Little Free Library

[...]

Little Free Libraries are a little like a dollhouse full of books: they sit on a pole or wall or fence, have two or three shelves and may include a protective glass door. An encouraging sign is posted -- "Take a book, return a book" -- prompting people who walk past to take a look and grab something to read.

There are more than 10,000 Little Free Libraries set up around the world. Kits can be ordered online; Spencer Collins got one as a gift from his grandfather.

The Leawood City Council said it had received a couple of complaints about Spencer Collins' Little Free Library. They dubbed it an "illegal detached structure" and told the Collins' they would face a fine if they did not remove the Little Free Library from their yard by June 19.

Is there one city council in this land, who loveth books and supporteth the child who loveth books?

One things for sure:  You don't need to be able to read or think, to vote.

And yet voters cannot trump readers, except by bullets when the intellectuals get purged, hehe, well not in my country but in all other countries up to now, book readers are the first to die.  Sad but true.

Anyway, this post is not about tech, it's just something I felt the spirit of Ben Franklin wishes to shame.  He hates city councils that hate book loving children, I bet.

Haha here is a paper called "All About the Benjamins" but I don't know if the names on it are people who know anything at all about tech, or this thread.

Or maybe they think they know the human mind?  If so: The prognosis is not good.

Well here is their summary:

Quote
http://threatpost.com/research-project-pays-people-to-download-run-executables/106773

[...]

To explain why rational individuals who are concerned about security and who undertake
precautions (i.e., install patches and anti-virus software) nevertheless fail to act
securely, we can draw from the safety regulation literature. Most prominently, Peltzman
outlined in his theory of risk compensation that individuals evaluate the combined demand
for safety and usage intensity (e.g., faster driving on a highway) [25]. In the online
security context this means that users with more security-ready systems—irrespective
of whether they safeguard themselves or administrators act for them—are comparatively
more likely to engage in risky behaviors. For example, they may be more likely
to seek free adult content or download undocumented code/media that increases their
perceived utility from experience. While this process may be driven by selfish and rational
considerations for at least some users, it always increases the risk of collateral
damage due to negative externalities.

[...]

I am going to say this:  There is so much wrong about the conclusions of this paper, that I am ashamed as is Benjamin Franklin, of those who wrote it, because they display the scent of science, but with complete lack of understanding.

"Patches" are what they associate with "precaution"  they say you patch, as a pre-caution --BUT, shouldn't it be not pre-caution but CAUTION, if you are constantly getting crapware from your brand names, and reuqiring 10000 patches?

ANSWER: YES

Brands that release buggy crapware at retail prices and patch in the field, have ruined IT pretty much.

So these scientists kinda obliquely suggest a sublime point that maybe Benjamin the coder is lying to us and there is some secret bug in the Ben code.  Haha, but no, we know that's not true, just defects that can only be exploited in all Bitcoin-child-blockchains who get captured by evil hearts and minds.

But perhaps bitcoin is not captured?  In any case, Benjamins is well transparent, and freely examinable, so, instead of running an executable for a nickle (as in the paper), why not stick to open code and true value?

Anyway I thought the title of this paper and the tack of my course in this thread, made this PDF a good inclusion to this thread about money and tech and security.

Oh but PDFs are totally crap and opened up a huge hole for the Aurora hacks, so, be very careful with this piece of crap notion called PDF documents.  I stick with notepad typically.

Oh and for those who ask, "Sir, just what is a Benjamin WORTH?"

I would say this:  Benjamins are maybe 50% off their reasonable value, or maybe 300% off their peak value (where the main dumper acted) --But most importantly I would respond with a question:

How much is a bottle of water worth, when Nestle(tm) sucks your country and then sells you your water back?

And how much is a cup of water worth when Detroit uses the right to water, to call in UN troops, as if Water has ever been protected by any government or politicians or army?

No my friends, the value of a Benjamin is no more than the water I have stored and which I live near.  Value is determined when supply is restricted.  And a worldwide restriction of all supplies, seems in the offing.

So, mine Benjamins and store water and protect water with me.  Protect the river you live near, do not litter and smack anyone you see dumping oil in it or gross stuff like that.

I live near a river which is sublime, there are tiny baby fish swimming all around, and children chasing them.  How can the UN bring such paradise to regions like Detroit?  I ask you to examine the full spectrum of dominance that is being foisted, and to somehow make a stand for Liberty.  That is all I am doing, in the face of this madness.

Quote
http://www.intellihub.com/groups-appeal-un-humanity-detroit-shuts-water-thousands/

'[...] the human right to water’

As thousands of people in Detroit go without water, and the city moves to cut off services to tens of thousands more, concerned organizations have taken the unusual step of appealing to the United Nations to intervene and protect the “human right to water.”

“After decades of policies that put businesses and profits ahead of the public good, the city now has a major crisis on its hands, said Maude Barlow, founder of Blue Planet Project and board chair of Food & Water Watch, in a statement. “By denying water service to thousands, Detroit is violating the human right to water.”

The Submission to the Special Rapporteur was released Wednesday by the Detroit People’s Water Board, the Blue Planet Project, the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization and Food & Water Watch.

It calls for the “state of Michigan and U.S. government to respect the human right to water and sanitation” and for shut-offs to be halted, services restored, and water to be made accessible and affordable.

The report comes on the heels of the Detroit’s city council’s Tuesday approval of an 8.7 percent increase in water rates, part of a long-standing trend that, according to Food & Water Watch, has seen prices increase 119 percent over the past decade.

Haha and will the UN act on US water problems --BY INVADING NESTLE??

Let's hope so.

Oh also this should be on every American's radar (and all in the world as well)

As Social Security has been fumbled by our Federal Reserve Bank fellows like Greenspan and such, well, it's time for the sad news.

BUT, they blame it on the "a public that's increasingly comfortable with accessing services remotely."  ...Oh yes I am sure the elderly and the disabled are more happy to get less you stupid asses.

Read this to yourself many times until you understand how a scissors works.

Quote
http://www.news-press.com/story/news/2014/06/19/panel-questions-social-security-field-office-closings/10824255/

[...]

Since 2010, the Social Security Administration has closed 64 of its more than 1,200 field offices as well as 533 mobile stations. Those offices were spread among 30 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Twelve offices alone were shuttered in New York, followed by Pennsylvania, with five closures, and California, Florida, Louisiana, Puerto Rico and Texas, with three closures each.

Budget cuts have gradually forced the agency to close all remaining field offices on Wednesday afternoons and to cut back by one hour every other weekday. In December, the agency announced it would no longer provide benefits verifications and Social Security Number printouts. And it has cut back on benefits statements mailed to prospective retirees.

Nancy Berryhill, the agency's deputy commissioner for operations, told senators the moves are partly in response to a public that's increasingly comfortable with accessing services remotely.

So in gangster terms, this is what you call a "cut and run" or "running away with your three card monte setup once the lookout gives you the signal"

Hello friends, I continue to mine Benjamins, and to ask that you join me in the 1776 modality (freedom and good money with good Genesis, not debt and crapware tech) or to perhaps buy and hold long, some of the millions of Benjamins already mined and for offer on Cryptsy.

I just wanted to point out this article whiuch connects to the idiocy of the ChainedIn crowd, and their sheer stupidity and unfitness for making IT decisions.

I am an IT tech, and I rarely if once, saw an executive who was worth a damn when it came to tech.  Even the ones who thought they were cool on their Blackberries and stuff, they are all just "bleeding edge" dumbasses, if you ask me.

I laugh at executives and their dumb ways.  Hehe, this article points out that they are easy sells, and that means they buy crap they know nothing about.  Does that sound like the right way to run a world?

No, I would say that since actors and cops have unions, well then the IT workers should have had a guild, inside the USA.  But no, it was not to be so, and now we have weeds sewn everywhere, and the Android, god help us all, is what people want to use??

Anyway, this article is so cute how they try to sell the idea the upper management can do anything except fail.  I have not once met any upper manager or moneybags person who impressed me.  Not once in 15 years of IT labor.   ...Okay well once.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, vendors see business-led tech buying as a golden opportunity to circumvent savvy IT leaders and cost-conscious procurement professionals: compared to sales to corporate IT, CEB estimates that technology sales directly to executives close in less than half the time - and have twice the contract value.

Haha, as a salesman I know that easy closers will buy stuff they haven't examined.  But see, I am of the 2% good guys in the sales or finance arena, hehe, j/k it's probably more like 2.1% are good.  Grin

Now, tell me friends, how much "contract value" are we creating in the Benjamins network?  Mine Benjamins with me, or buy them and hold them long and gift them to your family as heirlooms of the last days of money, and maybe, just maybe, we will figure out what to do with them when we really need them.

Hey, if still having issues with the Ben wallet, post a reply here, but what we need is miners.

Anyway, being an IT worker who has observed the complete gutting of my industry via the very brands we supported, I find this brand name stock company to be a moste foul creation which Benjamin Franklin would deem fit for the wastebin.

Thank God I am not on LinkedIn, its more like ChainedIn.  But, it would be nice to reflect my ego in some graphic of how many cool people I've known at companies I've worked at.  But frankly, that picture is my resume.  And frankly, the companies on my resume don't know s**t about cryptocoin nor do any corporate body have a soul, and so each human is MORE important than even the largest corporate concern.

Even when you wake your PC from sleep you are still logged on to the platform.

if you use Gmail and Rapportive for your social contacts then LinkedIn accesses that data too.

LinkedIn owns the Rapportive plugin. if you publish a post on LinkedIn, then LinkedIn knows what you specialise in. It knows your keywords and your topics.

If you upload items to Slideshare  — well LinkedIn owns that too. Information theory techniques map seemingly random variables to generate lists of recommended groups for you to join.

Job recommendations are based on your profile features and attributes.

LinkedIn also has access to all the data in apps that you have authorised to connect with it using OAuth.  Perhaps you have used your LinkedIn account to log into a service. You might have added extra functionality to tools such as HootSuite by adding LinkedIn.

Remember, if you have not signed out from LinkedIn, then it is collecting data from sites you visit which have either a LinkedIn plug in or an authentication request from you.

Your browser settings – and your log on details have allowed this to happen. So do not worry too much when it suggests someone you never expected it to uncover — from a totally different part of your online life.

Mine Benjamins with me my friends, because working for these cartels who sell out their own workers, is pretty much like being ChainedIn to an evil machine.

Screw that, I enjoy my free time, and I think making cryptocoin blockchain work, can release me from a lot of tedious crap work like what ChainedIn lifestyle offers us all.  Begone ye corsets and also chains upon the working man and his dignity.

I tried to sync it on a friends home with open firewall but it doesn't work too. 0 connection.
I tried it with the windows GUI wallet and the headless linux version.

Kind regards

As a career troubleshooter I would ask you to allow it a full day on your friends "no firewall" machine

Also to copy my pasted config files and place them in the right folder.

The wallet works fine, we have 9 connections generally, so it's on your end.  Keep us posted as to what you try!  I suspect your config files are off.

edit

Simple logic asks to have your friend try the wallet on his machine.  That will tell you if it ALSO fails the same conditional test, then suggesting it's probably your config files on both machines that have wrong info.

Yes I'm behind a firewall and I haven't access to it. So it should work through it.
I deleted peers.dat and restart the wallet with following .conf file:

Code:
server=1
daemon=1
listen=0

addnode=198.147.23.176

[...]

My friend: I cannot make it work behind your firewall.  Also I don't have experience running the daemon and I am just a regular user like any other person.  Sounds complicated on your end!

Okay so here's my questions:

1: Can you get to a free wifi connection and do you have a laptop you can take there?
2: Does it have Linux or windows, this laptop?

Going from there I can help you, because IP is essentially free!  But yes, if you run a local firewall you'll want to allow the Ben connection.

Hi

I can't sync my wallet. Are there any nodes which are working?

Thanks

Athuros

It takes days to sync.  If you tried the nodes above, you should be fine, just let it sit, blocks are slow we need miners more than anything.

If you are getting any messages, that helps us troubleshoot, thanks!

Thanks for your reply. The problem is i can't connect to any of this nodes. Both wallets (ubuntu server headless + windoiws gui) have this issue. So no blocks are incomming...

Kind regards

Athuros

The only thing I didn't post is my Benjamins.bat file which goes in your Benjamins folder:

Code:
benjamins-qt -server -seednode=198.147.23.176

My wallet is connected and has 9 active other wallets it can see.

You will need to give us more info to determine what's different for you.  Probably it's IP related, are you running a firewall?

anyone know what the default p2p port is for ben wallets?

Thanks

Hey crackfoo, I will post what I have, but a lot of this you already know.  Let's correct anything wrong here:

these are my config files:

To run bfgminer and connect to hasher.ca:

launchbens.cmd is a possible example filename, just copy and paste to a notepad file:

Code:
C:\bfgminer2014\bfgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://stratum.hasher.ca:3394 -u 16sD5dAMrt6EE4zystJN4r5sZzmPR4srYi -p xxx -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0781 --http-port 8330

So in this -u is my Benjamins inbound wallet ID, and I am choosing the standard Benjamins/BTC port 8330 for mining

And prior to that I edit benjamins.conf in C:\Users\user\Application Data\Benjamins such that it read like this:

Code:
rpcuser=x
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=3393
server=1
gen=0

addnode=198.147.23.176
addnode=162.243.225.132
addnode=79.30.41.82
addnode=79.35.184.193
addnode=178.210.43.53
addnode=37.4.59.204
addnode=188.162.40.145
addnode=67.233.202.8
addnode=66.186.168.160
addnode=70.169.118.178
addnode=216.145.101.106
addnode=123.211.105.43
addnode=50.42.35.91
addnode=46.118.221.232
addnode=124.169.133.2
addnode=86.5.174.41
addnode=151.50.110.59
addnode=184.75.214.210

As for the question about the Benjamins wallet, the selection "Allow port selection via UPnP" is available and seems to work fine.  But I am not sure off hand how to know which port it's running on.

But there is a lot of work to do so I appreciate all who are holding Benjamins long, and trying to mine.  Ask questions as this is the goal, to get new people up and running on SHA-256 gear like Ants and such, and mine with us.

Should we have a conference call or something?  I will just sit in the background and say little unless you ask me to.  We could use gotomeeting.

att-charges-$750-for-one-minute-of-international-data-roaming

reifman (786887) writes 'Last week, AT&T shut down my data service after I turned roaming on in Canada for one minute to check Google maps. I wasn't able to connect successfully but they reported my phone burned through 50 MB and that I owed more than $750. Google maps generally require 1.3 MB per cell. They adamantly refused to reactivate my U.S. data service unless I 'agreed' to purchase an international data roaming package to cover the usage. They eventually reversed the charges but it seems that the company's billing system had bundled my U.S. data usage prior to the border crossing with the one minute of international data roaming.'

^^^ This is an important nodal point if you are following AT&T (The NSA itself actually) and its desire to throttle the inter-nationality urge of all good people, and of course of Americans.

They are trying to create smaller worlds, not bigger one.

What would Benjamin Franklin say?  Under what false names would he mock them?  Grin

Jim Willie's list as of 6/5/14 looking forward:

Step 1: The FTO is launched (Yuan gold placed in bench for their exchange)
Step 2: Energy transaction (non SWIFT) begins massively happening in Yuan
Step 3: Gold Trade notes > Gold bonds > Gold Yuan established (FOREX level letter of credit replacement)
Step 4: BRICS + associates sign on
Step 5: Global Barter system, computerized at teirs/levels (national/corporate/retail)

It is very interesting at where Jim says maybe the Belgium T-Bond buying is actually sourcing the BRICS central bank of gold.

But notice at 8:00 in he talks of the retail barter level.  Gold backs the barter system at the ground retail level.

Please do mine Benjamins and help us create a strong true exchange of goods before it's needed.  This wind will move quickly.  We will need all sundries, gold, diapers, and food of course.  But it will need to be a computerized exchange.

Debt cancellation would be a disaster unless you are prepared to profit from a true world with true money.  Let's see if we can capture lightning, shalln't we?

Mine Benjamins and study the code with your family, and buy and hold Benjamins long.  Let us use this thread to catch the lightning of providence.

Cryptolocker toolkit now moving to Droids (remember me and my buddy who said that all droids and tablets are crapware?)

Their CnC servers are hidden in Tor, which is already a USN weaponized covert battleground.

Be aware that Tor will probably be the only way to do things in the future, but if that's a setup, one has to wonder why the USNavy wouldn't still be smarting from the morning of 9/11 when the ONI offices at WTC7 and at Pentagon were crushed.  And do you know what the ONI offices were investigating?  Gold thefts of WW2.  True story!

Be ready for computer>theft on a scale we have never thought possible.  Be ready for Bitcoin to be smeared as the worst vile thing ever.

Be ready to seek a blockchain with integrity and purpose.  That would be Benjamins, which is only used by a small group with extremely simple understandings: Privacy, Liberty and death to corsets.

ESET Analyzes First Android File-Encrypting, TOR-enabled Ransomware
By Robert Lipovsky posted 4 Jun 2014 - 12:36PM

Last weekend saw the (somewhat anticipated) discovery of an interesting mobile trojan – the first spotting of a file-encrypting ransomware for Android by our detection engineers.

Let’s put this all into perspective, so we know what we’re dealing with here…

Almost exactly one year ago, a hybrid comprising characteristics of a rogue AV and ransomware (the lockscreen type, not a file-encryptor) was discovered, calling itself Android Defender, as reported by Symantec. It had all the typical traits of a fake AV and all the typical traits of a lockscreen ransomware – in that it was not actually that trivial to get rid of when a user was not protected by a mobile antivirus, they had to disable it by booting their device into Safe mode. ESET detects it as Android/FakeAV. And a less aggressive Android Defender without the lockscreen functionality was analyzed by Sophos in May 2013.

Last month the blog Malware don’t need Coffee reported on a police ransomware for Android by the Reveton team. Again, this was an evolutionary migration of a malware type very prevalent in the recent years from Windows to the Android platform.
