Ok, so same chip, but why not continue with the old design if the new doesn't improve anything significantly? What is the improvement?

Well.. that's another thing... We detected some weird anomaly with the boards. Say you set the pot to something and power up and measure like say 0V8 VDD. Then after the chips get programmed and start hashing the voltage goes up to 1V0!!?!?! This seems to happen especially when clock is set at 52. There's clearly some resonance there, but we don't have the necessary skill and equipment to figure out what exactly is going on and with what settings it occurs. All this mixture of weirdness and black magic makes me hesitate sending them out just yet.. I want to achieve solid performance before I ship. And preferably have the heatsinks made also.

The pot is in the feedback path of the
DC/DC converter's control loop. Any noise
picked up there can wreak havoc on the
output signal.

Has this 1V0 voltage level been probed with
a scope or only with a voltmeter?

And what happens when this pot is replaced
with a fixed resistor?

Just a voltmeter. We haven't tried replacing the pot.

Two  question.
H-Board run at 1V0 hasing ?
In the case of 1V0 board is hot or cold?

I suppose  clock 52 are testing mode. Run all 768 cores (even bad) at full speed than mark as good or bad. In that case chip run hot, internal resistance go rapidly down. Than switch off most cores. Resistance go up. But that's just my guess

I have not time now, but it easy task to find in miner.h

Why not sell boards to volunteers to figure out this black magic ?
One board reward to the one who solves it!
(BTW, do these new boards have the new PCI style connector to the M-board?)

Or how about putting up a portion of the stock at a time, over a day or two, so everyone gets a good chance to buy?

You can ship to the US, right?

How about some special deal for early customers? I mean august buyers?

Please consider selling the heatsinks separately as well. I would definitely be interested in buying a bunch of them for my current boards. How about opening pre-orders for just the heatsinks, so you can see how much interest there is for old boards? Or is there too much uncertainty about when they'll be ready to ship?

Can't you mandate that buyers turn down the potentiometer to 0.65V before turning on the board and use heatsinks when overvolting, just like the current version of the boards ?

(Or turn the potentiometer to 0.65V before shipping, then it must have been a buyer action if the board burns up).

Dave over at MBP sold the new hot H boards to customers.  Yes they get hot and many buyers have added their own heatsinks.  I bought 5 boards and I just have some nice 140mm PC fans blowing on them with virtually no issues.

They are a bit tricky to get hashing out of the box though.  I had to do a lot of card swapping to finally get things stable without adding a bunch of clunky heatsinks.  They run nice and fast too with no overclocking... about 33Gh/s.

I wouldn't. People will try to pull out the max and flood you with RMA requests for their blown-up boards.

Chips = silicon = doesn't vary that much. We're still using the original mask-set. Our chips can provide efficiency as good as below 0.5J/GH or can be cranked up to over 3GH/chip and still suck less than 1J/GH.

The problem with current PCI style H-cards is that they are set at 0.85V and come without a heatsink. This combination will overheat out of the box and make inexperienced customers sad and/or angry. I'm still hesitating to put them up in the shop before we get the heatsinks..

You should tell us the upside too. So if the new chips only overheat, then that's not interesting, but if they deliver better W/GH then I would say put them up there yestarday and take my "ROI non ROI" BTC!

RnR = I have made ROI but the consequent investment will not make ROI in itself, I just wan't to help the idea of digital currency with the free ride my early adoption created.

If your new board design isn't quite right, could you please at least consider shipping some trays of chips while you get your in house design debugged?

Chips are currently sold out. Even the next batch of chips is sold out. We already have the boards with chips on them. There's no debugging involved, just overheat issues. I'm thinking of maybe putting them up on the site with massive warning labels as there seems to be tons of interest Smiley

If they can be broken they will be broken. I for one would prefer the best avaible solution and I'm sure you know best what this is. I you think heatsinks are advisable, I would like mine with heatsinks. You probably ordered them already anyways. If they can be used, I would like heatsinks for my old boards as well.

Pre-order or not shouldn't be a real issue here, I suppose we are talking about days, not weeks or months.

Can you send out a mailing to your old customs if the new hardware is available?

Im a big fan of shop-sales, preorder without fixed delivery date is risky. Or you allow reservations: it can get reservated now, but need to pay if hardware is available (latest in 24h after notification). If its unpaid after 24h the reservation is cleared and give to shop-sale. But the risk is you get all your hardware blocked, and no one will ay if its available.

Since days i have no access to support-chat http://ircnet.eversible.com/. Server seems to be down, but other told me they reach them. Has anyone idea whats the problem?
