Good job on the airdrop and finally getting it out. It's too bad it wasn't done sooner.
The funny thing, is that the Airdrop is ahead of the original schedule... which was to start on May 17th, and end a month later on June 17th
- the problem was that Rawdawg- first installment reached only ½ the people on the list...
But Hippie Tech was right, there was so many poppets on that list... even the original dev had two usernames on the list... I removed as many as I could find, but more are popping out on the blockchain - it is even more obvious since the final Airdrop...
But I am not worried. The coin is destined to be of no value, very soon. And will end up to be just a tipping coin - that's if we can get the network to keep working passed the max supply.
You see, the max supply coded is 63 561 840 coins (ref: main.h). So far, the network has produced 62 683 254 coins (getinfo). Leaving only 878586 coins to mint. When the max supply will be reached, in about a month --> no more rewards from minting = miners leaving = no (or very slow) network = no transactions possible = dead coin. Unless, the miners wants to mint for nothing, which is possible. Should be interesting...
It could always be forked and re-coded couldn't it? If its about to die, couldn't we have a go a saving it, maybe even come up with something no-one's tried before?
As nerioseole points out, the network is going to be slow, possibly even unusable, and this is a problem for all PoS coins when the mining phase ends.
A PoS network is always gonna be slow, the only thing powering it is a couple of thousand CPU's, compare that to the to the hashrate thrown at networks by GPU miners, you begin to understand why. The only way I see a PoS coin surviving would be one with a mass distribution, it would need to harness enough power to process transactions quickly enough to be usable in the real world. I could be totally wrong, but I'm guessing it's possible with enough wallets, but not a couple of thousand. I'm just an ideas guy, no coding skills or tech background, so I'm just throwing it out there, but what other solutions are there to this?
Hopefully one of the genius's out there reads this and has a light-bulb moment, alternatively, feel free to tell me that I've got it completely wrong, what a noob etc, etc.
