I think ETC should not receive or return the reward from the hacker.

The whole point of this project is to stand behind the principles that imply that he is not a hacker at all. Those funds legitimately belong to him. He can do as he likes with them.

mmmmm sorry i dont think thats what ETC sais ETC sais we are not the law like in lawenvorcement. but the line code is law means something different it means the blockchain is immutable the ledger shall not be changed. we do not say we know if the hack or the takeing was a crime . there need to be an investigation. we are not the despot to decide . every person has a right of a objective investigation and a trail befor anounced guilty. and thats why ETC happend. not becouse we say its legal what the "hacker" did. me thinks given the evidence that have been published he took them legit but moraly hmmm or ethicaly not correct.becouse if the code was supost to act like it did the whole thing the dao was created like a fraud. and so he followed the fraud. was just faster then the one who planed to do the fraud.

Sorry but I disagree. The main point of ethereum is to develop an autonomous legal system. As per the terms of that legal system, the only legal system that has jurisdiction in matters of the ethereum blockchain, the "hacker" was within legal bounds. If some outside legal agency wants to interfere with the self governence of the sovereign ethereum blockchain than they are aggressors.

Only 1000 ETC? Surely he can do better than that. He "earned" millions from the "hack" and that is all he can spare? That is funny. I cannot see how this is big news. Also there is the bigger problem. What does he intend to do with all his ETC now that he has full control of it? Not to dump on the market I hope. It would be nice to have an official statement from him.

Hackers are Bad guys. What ever the reason is, taking someone's property without consent is nothing but stealing. And we are expecting nice thing from a hacker ??

He had consent. Everyone who sent to the dao consented to the terms of the contract. That contract had an actionable clause in it allowing for him to make a withdrawal. Hes not a hacker. He was exercising his rights as per the terms and conditions of the contract that everyone agreed to.

not all hackers are bad...many end up being a force for good by "stress testing" systems and highlighting security flaws. I wonder if the 1000 ETC is a test transfer before he/she transfers a lot more...that would send the price sky rocketing  Wink

Regardless, myself like a lot of other people are in ETC for the long term...seen too many people get burnt trying to game the market. buy low and hold long term always wins in my book

etc stands still in between .0022 to .0025. many other coins are getting too many attraction. etc is not doing that bad but not good either. my daily trading is stopped as no btc to invest elsewhere

The time will come. If you want invest longterm, if not wait few days and Trading days will come again. I personaly invested in ETC longterm because i believe in this project, and everyday there is more support. They are working hard on it and ETC hold the price on "nothing" if you want to hear this( is not nothing, but people keep saying it). Now imagine what will happen when they actually deliver something? There is 1000 of people who still dont want to invest in ETC because they are scared of something, lots of them holding ETH because price is more stable.. now im waiting what will happen in next months when ETC will show UP trend.. Hmm.. i wonder..  Cool Wink

It was posted on Slack a few days ago about about the Ledger Nano S hardware wallet.  I have been looking at this idea, but I don't see a 2 factor auth for the Nano S.  As a matter of fact I only see a 4 digit PIN.  This seems way too weak a auth method to secure the wallet.  Does anyone else have any experience with this or can recommend a hardware wallet that works for ETC?  Thanks.

Here is the URL for the Ledger Nano S:
https://www.ledgerwallet.com/products/12-ledger-nano-s

I have a nano s and I love.
Besides the 4 numbers, is generated a seed with 24 words to recover the wallet in case of loss or reset. To do transfers are asked three random words from that seed.

Thanks for your feedback on this.  I will give it a try.  I want another layer of security between the internet, and my PC for access to my wallet so this seems like a better solution.  I hope these continue to improve and start to take in bio metrics at some point.

Np!
nano s also has two separate processors, which work independently.
One takes care of external communication and the other of everything that is related to crypto. It also has a separate memory where the private key is stored encrypted, which is only accessed by the second processor
