Is there an easy way to check the json file that we bought during the ipo and make sure the coins are there?

The coins are not "inside", is a private key that will allow you to redeem the Ethers when the platform launches.

Just keep it safe and don't lose the password, all will be fine.

When Ethereum hits the market.........I'll be there to pick up the pieces of all the get rich quickers who don't know anything about long term development.  I missed out on the IPO but now that I think about it I'm not saddened...chup.  I'll be there at the dip and support Ethereum when all others make their mistakes.

Well, I would not call it people trying to get rich fast. They locked their money at a $15 million valuation for half a year without even knowing if Ethereum will work.

+1! I guarantee people will be picking up Etherium at levels well below the IPO price. And I will be amongst them  Smiley

Even though I bought in at IPO, I agree and will be there too purchasing more

When is the genesis block being generated??

Winter 2014/15, from their website:

Quote
People interested in acquiring ether to build and distribute decentralized applications, or to pay for their usage, are able to do so in the Genesis Sale using bitcoin, thereby locking-in their supply at a known price. This sale will help us fund the continued development of the software platform, scheduled for release in the winter of 2014/2015.

I suggest there should be some investment limit to ensure fair distribution...

Check out ethereum videos from YouTube , Vitalik is sharing some slides and info about distribution, on already closed ether genesis sale, in one of those.

And distribution will continue of course when the actual ether is on the main net and traded.

A little bit too late for that. The genesis sale is closed.

with next halving of BTC in 2016 you'll see what a good investement is (btc not eth)

The halving won't trigger a rise alone in my opinion because it isn't a news but it's a fact we all know.
With this I don't want to say that there won't be any other bubble before 2016 Smiley

Is true we all know [all inside bitcoin community]. But anyway, miners will have half bitcoins to sell to pay their bills every month.

We're speaking about ~55,000 bitcoins less every month. That's $25 million per month! Of course it will rise the price.

This is the first project where money comes from outside, not just btt kids.
This is a real world project and of course nothing is safe ever, but it has the way more chances to succeed than any other project in cryptoworld.
Even BTSX is valued 60 million close after launch. Ether will be bigger for sure.
That´s not all, there are people programming apps right now, so Ether won´t start as a simple blockchain and empty promises.

If you still believe you will get rich because you mine a 0815 crapcoin and it will be worth 8 billion like btc...WAKE UP!!! Now the big project are coming in, with serious money and attention of Silicon Valley. Time has changed.

Instead of spreading FUD about something you don´t understand you should watch some videos with Vitalik and co. It will blow your mind. Beside these guys Mark Zuckerberg looks like a retarted dumbass. They really know what they are doing.

And I don´t care what the price right after IPO is, it will be a good win, but I won´t sell anyway. I am goin to retire in 10 years with Ether, when it will play in league with Google and Apple.

Right. Because Ripple retired so many people. lol.

Vitalik is a frontman for VCs.  He may be smart, but there's a lot of other smart devs in crypto.

Ripple?Huh What does it have in common with Ether?Huh?

A lot of smart devs? I don´t think so. There are just a handful of them, and they would be way more successful if they would work together on one project.

What do they both have in common?? Both backed by VC money and not crypto money.

Ripple is a centralized payment system and Ripple itself holds most funds. But you already know that.
You just hate Ether for some reason. I don´t know.
Makes not much sense to discuss this further.

I only hate Ether as an investment. Trust me, had I thought it was a good investment, I would have invested large, because I think the Ether team will make something decent. They just didnt create a coin that is a good investment - inflationary coin expansion with deflationary real world cost mechanisms. Really an investment nightmare, imo.

Just like Bitcoin. Worked well so far.
