What kind of cooling are you using for this room?

12 tons of high powered dc hvac.

How much power does each unit actually take?

Each 500Gh/s unit should be around 2,300 to 2,400 watts. We are going to take some measurements after we get some food.

And the power use is ?

Lol, what difference does it make? The thing could require a new 220volt outlet in your house and you would do it! Smiley

Did it come with the Nexus-7 touchpanel?

I've opted out of using the Nexus7 because I don't like to introduce more change than necessary. cgminer is using about 15% CPU on a i7 processor (I'm pretty sure conman is not done with optimizations) because the new long board firmware has the mining software controlling work for each chip. It is like running 128 devices on a single instance of cgminer.
There is not a lot of scope for further reductions in CPU with that particular hardware design and firmware, but bear in mind that it was 14% of one core of an i7 processor running at 1600Mhz. Even if it was a dual core/4 thread CPU that ran at that speed, it should be able to accommodate 16 minirigs, though there may be other barriers beside CPU usage alone first.

Interesting thanks for the info.

Nice rig room giga. Very nice. I would aspire to have a room with half the power you have on show, id be damn happy to get there too.

Congrats on having the guts to stick it out for the glory. Reap that coin, you deserve it Wink

We'll have to wait and see.

How much did this thing cost on preorder 1 year ago ?

Pre-order cost was $15k + trade-in of the FPGA mini rig.

There are always risks with spending earned BTC on mining equipment and this situation is no different.

I am very grateful to BFL for pressing though their power issues and making it to the other side. There resolve to see the project though is top notch.

Why running on such a high diff anyway. 32 or 64 would do easily with a stratum-proxy in between.
gigavps runs his own pool and it targets 8 shares per minute so that's what it settles at with 480GH.

Even looking at the error / hash rate ratio its high.

Will you look at the followup or just keep going on about this?

Pretty bad when hardware error rate exceeds accepted count.
How does difficulty play into that though? It's set at 500. So it is really 16*500 shares vs 193 errors?
Exactly. Which turns out to be ~3%.

Yes and as always, when you first start it, it looks worse. Here it is after running for ~2hrs without changing the code.

Code:
 cgminer version 3.2.2 - Started: [2013-06-19 03:21:34]

Accepted is 1502, so 1502 * 500 = 751000 accepted diff 1 shares, so HW errors are 5182 or 5182 / 751000 * 100 ~0.7%

Number 4 definitely runs  hotter, and consequently has the highest HW error rate.

It's been up and down numerous times as I've been chipping away at the code to make it work at its theoretical maximum 480GH.

It's mostly working now. Here's what I've got:

Code:
 cgminer version 3.2.2 - Started: [2013-06-19 02:17:06]

Note the hardware error count may appear very high, but bear in mind that it's mining at diff 500

Pretty bad when hardware error rate exceeds accepted count.
I want you to switch your miners to a diff=500, and see how many shares you submit to your pool. Hint, my FPGA Single would get less than 40 shares a day at that diff.

Even looking at the error / hash rate ratio its high.

The 25 GH units are a spec of dust compared to that beast!  And they sold so many of these things too.  Oh man diff is going to go upwards in a hurry!

Don't worry guys if it says 480 GH and he said 500 GH this is the first moment they've gotten to tinker with it, I'm sure they can squeeze out another percent or two.
