I like hagie's idea as it will help create a demand for GP if your game can be preordered in GP by those who want to buy it with GP, and being rewarded for buying it early is a really cool idea as well.

Please do this if you can TD!

Maybe we could have a three-tiered structure... Pre-Order, Supporter (Pre-Order with mention in Credits), and Investor (Pre-Order, special mention in credits, and GP back when certain conditions are met).

I'll have to think about it.  I don't like not being able to give a definite release date at present, but experience suggests it's still too soon to do that.

Can you PM me with details of how many GP you could put up for this and I'll put a plan together.  Won't be straight away though, I want to give this some serious thought before deciding anything.

Incidentally as well as the post I did some time ago (http://www.captaindisasterthecomputergame.com/2015/06/captain-disaster-now-sponsored-by.html), I have also updated the "About the Game" page with GP as sponsor (http://www.captaindisasterthecomputergame.com/p/about-game.html).  I will add more visible ways to promote GP on the devblog as I continue to update it.

I'm all for the tiered system. Offering up an investment program would be awesome, Smiley.

The investors who preorder will get 10% GP of those buyers who buy the game after release with GP.

That's an idea.  The trouble is that I have no set release date yet (though we have a pretty firm decision to aim for December 2016), and we have yet to set a definite price.  Also its common to the point of obligatory to have an introductory special offer for the first couple of weeks these days.

I was hoping that a mention in the game credits and on the dev blog would be enough of an extra incentive for people, although I understand that a lot is on trust here.  I'm also wary of the fluctuating value of GP and making promises that I will potentially struggle to keep (or, can keep but take up a lot of my time that will then be unable to use for gamedev).

I don't know how wide the interest might be within the GP community (or, in all honesty, how big the GP community actually is!) - but I am fully aware that the vast majority of players who are likely to want to buy my game will have little or no interest / knowledge in cryptocurrency, beyond having vaguely heard of Bitcoin.  So should the focus of anything we do here be to reward existing members of the GP community or try to introduce a totally new set of people to GP?  Clearly it should be a mixture of both, but one side of the coin (as it were) presumably will have to take precedence.

As a side-thought, are there any online shops that accept GP?  I know there are a couple of HYPER stores, but not sure about GP?

In regards to pricing and fluctuating exchange rates, don't worry too much about it, you can just have a set price in GP as you have already done, it can be separate to the fiat price you sell it for elsewhere.

Your buyers may have heard of Bitcoin, but when they see with GP tat they can earn it playing games like DK then I think it will help drive some interest Smiley

I'm more than happy to provide the GP that you can give to purchasers of your game.

At this stage there are no merchants,  there will be more in future.

Will do, although as it's likely the sites will have a spot purely for screenshots, it may have to wait for my next Press Release.  (I do need to update the blog to show GP as the sponsor - already done a post about it but need to add something to the homepage I mean.)

I am wondering if everyone who buys the game should be gifted a few GP as well to help promote GP and your game? I would gladly give you some bounty for that.

That's an interesting idea actually, but I'm not quite sure how I would be able to implement that.  Deserves further thought, definitely... maybe it could be some sort of competition that players can enter?  A code they will receive only in-game somehow?  (Could you point me to the GoldPieces API and I'll ask my programmer if he thinks we might be able to do something.  It's going to have to be somewhat low on the priority list right now though.)  Or, maybe I could so something from the dev blog / on Twitter?

That is true, i still play from time to time, its just one thing that bothers me and that is the economy of the game. While the cost for building upgrades and sort of things stay the same all the time no matter how many resources are on the market or has been produced. Everything should be a matter of changes. I know its hard to do this and i really wonder how will that be done in Crypto Galaxies.

An update to enhance that could consist of basing the required amount of resources off of the players level. The higher you are the more it will cost you to do stuff. The issue with upgrades is it has to be fair for new players and old alike, just have to find a middle ground.

The economy is decided by the players though. I could add minimum limits for the exchanges but this would limit the new players from effectively using them.

Yes this is why the cost for technology upgrades will be the same for all players of Crypto Galaxies as well, otherwise it is unfair on new players (although higher tech levels will cost more for all players as well).

It will be easy to modify these in Crypto Galaxies, but it is more likely those values will be kept constant, as the game will have a very, very long progression in economy, technology and upgrades.

When people trade their resources and currencies on the decentralized exchange for HYPER and GP, this should be set by supply and demand and so be self correcting.

@crazyjack - I do still have a quick go every day, but I haven't had a full-blooded attempt at beating your high score.  I blame my lousy PC.  Or maybe my reflexes are just shot in my old age...  Cry

Hey, even my keyboard isn't in perfect condition, but a new version is coming out soon, well much faster but more controllable. Although i still think that after reaching 250 points or smth, snake does seem to stop gaining additional speed. Will see.
