For those wanting to do upgrade in Linux, we've added a toggle for assembly.

https://github.com/guncoin/guncoin/commit/041926bf9a5886184f6b67a12ca797fd894d2561

Here are the steps for Linux servers to compile the daemon.

cd guncoin
git pull
./autogen.sh
./configure --without-gui
make clean
make,

Hy,

can you make 1.2 compatible for Linux. I want to Update my pool

We are not going to do that for V1.2.  There were some issues and we thought V1.3 would be out soon enough.  However, getting everyone on board and switched over is taking longer than we thought to V1.2.  Pretty close to 50% now.  We really need to be above 60% participation on V1.2 before we get going on V1.3 to make sure V1.2 is stable - all signs are that it is - but until well over half are running it there are no guarantees.

On second thought, there may be something we can do to help the Linux users.....

10 better than the 17 LOL.. and 100K gun is about half the price of a glock...

I didn't actually compute the fiat value, I just gave out a number. Turns out its close enough huh.... (yeah, half, LOL, but still.)

This is like the bitcoin pizza, except this is the GUN glock.

Parachute for sale. Used once. Small red stain.
Can't agree with the purpose of this project, as it makes guns more accessible via easier means of purchasing.
Objectively tho - good news for the cryptoworld. We need projects like this to show the rest of the world that cryptocurrency is a great way to solve many, many issues.
Good luck Smiley
GUN (the coin) makes it easier to purchase guns (the defensive firearm)?

I'll give you 100k GUN if you send me a Glock 17.

Let him have his 1st amendment right, so you can keep your 2nd amendment right. Some people are just not readers ...

I'm not American so I don't have that right, at least not from my government. I consider it a basic right regardless of government. But my usual advice to everyone is obey the law.

I enjoyed seeing the post from pamober.
It shows that we can agree to be able to disagree and feel free to communicate about it.
Somebody stated their opinion, helped justify ours, and basically wished us well.
Reminds me of the 1st Amendment...free speech

even if his opinion was based on ignorance.. sure, free speech and all, im for it, defend it to my last breath. However, people should make their statements and base their opinions on facts and reality.

how in the world does this coin make guns more accessible? purchasing is not "easier" because someone uses guncoin. You still have to go through the same process and checks as you would using fiat.. you are just ignorant of how gun sales work.

Well, for those that do not know, our lead developer helping us with this series of upgrades is none other than Bushstar - lead developer for Feathercoin. In addition to V1.2, he will also be working on the next upgrade in the queue.  He also supports several other of the Neoscrypt family of coins.  Here is his tweet this morning.......

The high hashrate came from mining-dutch.nl.

You are on the neoscrypt autoswitch list. Congratulations :-)

Imagine having 300 miners visiting. (so far it is just in theori. Checking my wallet..)

Well, that explains a lot and confirms there was nothing sinister with the spike in the hash rate.  Our coin held up fine, it just kept a bunch from getting too many coins for a few days.

Actually, it was over 500 miners on GUN for over 24 hours according to the stats that I saw.  They are one of several great pools that handle GUN and put GUN in the autoswitch pool and apparently a few extra piled on when they switched.  UFOCOin, another Neoscrypt coin had the same surge in hashrate with the same result.  It is so great to be recognized and the interest, but all agree at this point for us and a few of the Neoscrypt coins, a 2.3GHz spike in hash rate is not really a good thing.  You can still mine GUN there, it is just not in the autoswitch pool any more for good reasons.  Thanks so much to all who helped identify the source of the mining.  Next time we will know.  I again might note, that the Digishield difficulty retargeting worked as advertised and the difficulty returned to normal as the hash rate regressed.  All seem to be normal now with the GUN blockchain.

We still appear to have over half of the wallets that are online running V1.1?  I am curious as to why?

While the jump to GUN V1.2 is based on the Bitcoin 0.9 code is only a soft fork and compatible with V1.1, the jump to GUN V1.3 will advance our code significantly farther and will NOT be compatible with V1.1, only with V1.2.  So in other words, our plan was to have a series of soft forks to advance our GUN code forward.  However, for us to move to V1.3 and beyond, would be a hard fork for any users running V1.1 (not V1.2).  So if you have not already upgraded to V1.2, please do so as soon as you can.

sorry, thought I had already upgraded but it was a different wallet. Took care of it, upgraded... thanks

(edit) however, it appears the wallet is stuck at 8 hours now and wont sync any further

The blockchain is the part that is stuck, not necessarily the wallet.
Once the current mining issues are taken care of, the wallet should work fine.

All is moving again and blocks are being found on schedule with a Difficulty now under 2.
