We still appear to have over half of the wallets that are online running V1.1?  I am curious as to why?

While the jump to GUN V1.2 is based on the Bitcoin 0.9 code is only a soft fork and compatible with V1.1, the jump to GUN V1.3 will advance our code significantly farther and will NOT be compatible with V1.1, only with V1.2.  So in other words, our plan was to have a series of soft forks to advance our GUN code forward.  However, for us to move to V1.3 and beyond, would be a hard fork for any users running V1.1 (not V1.2).  So if you have not already upgraded to V1.2, please do so as soon as you can.

sorry, thought I had already upgraded but it was a different wallet. Took care of it, upgraded... thanks

(edit) however, it appears the wallet is stuck at 8 hours now and wont sync any further

The blockchain is the part that is stuck, not necessarily the wallet.
Once the current mining issues are taken care of, the wallet should work fine.

Parachute for sale. Used once. Small red stain.

For those unaware, the difficulty is back down below 2 and hash rate down to about 200MHz and some of the pools are finding blocks again.  If you remember with our last upgrade a few years back, we made some adjustments to protect the difficulty from getting stuck too high when the hash rate went up with Digishield I believe.  So the difficulty will not get stuck and will respond quicker when the hash rate drops.  So for those of you who turned off your miners, I think you can fire them up again, others are finding some coins again.

It looks like we are having an interesting day or two so far.

Looking forward to solving this issue and coming out stronger.

A little forging going on in my opinion.

Yes, the difficulty is now down again as is the hashrate.  TheBlocksFactory just found a few blocks this afternoon even with a reduced hash rate by that pool.  I would suggest to get all the pools going again, to find a few more blocks.

Ok. I got caught in the language. No pun intended.

I just wonder. Is it not more fun to mine 1000 coins a day instead of 0.4 or 0.0004 or.. ?

PS: i see on tbf they have spend 16 hours 23 min 49 sec on finding the latest block. And around 11 hours to find a block before that.

Yes understand - the more your find the better of course.  But if someone has 100x more hashpower than you, they will find a lot more coins....

I was just on the tbf pool for a second and it went #ngix# again. Looks like new diff is insane.

Glad i went in before you hard f*rked the coin.

Please be realistic. Specs on volume today.

Volume (24h)
$258 USD
0.02 BTC
coinmarketcap.

PS: No ngix error now.
PPS: And it went *ngix* again. Someone is having a day on my account.

Just to clarify, there was no hard fork here with V1.2, why do you say that?Huh  There are clearly many still running V1.1 and both are compatible with each other.  AND the difficulty is sky high because a SINGLE MINER hit the network with over 2.3 GHZ of hash power and has pretty much grabbed all the new coins for the past few days.  There is NOTHING wrong with the network or the soft fork that we just released.  ANY small coin is always subject to groups or individuals to come in and occupy the hash with high volume mining capability.  This is exactly the reason why we went to Neoscrypt years ago.  The difficulty is still high, but half of what it was yesterday.  More mining power by the rest of us would sure help along with more V1.2 wallets online.

Hy

Pool is now on Version 1.2.

we must mine the next blocks together to break the height block diff.

https://miner-control.de

Code:
-o stratum+tcp://miner-control.de:3355 -u -p c=GUN

Happy Mining

Ps: is see that the Wallet address is now "1111111111111111111111111111111111111118reZF7Mx7ReVF8t8fNHT3aVG8SJsn11u9" is that right?

Gun Wallets start with a G.  You cannot use LINUX on V1.2.  Linux will not be functional till the next upgrade. We mentioned that when we released it.

502 Bad Gateway
nginx/1.6.2 (Ubuntu)

Wonder what they are doing over there.. A wild guess. They are frying pork.

PS: Switching location to "Montreal" did not help.

I thought I was going crazy, but it looks like the difficulty has spiked 100x overnight. Someone's mining all the blocks nearly single handedly.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gun/#@diff

And here's the address the hash is directed to (it's new):
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gun/extraction.dws?386595.htm

Perhaps someone who doesn't want to pay a premium on the market with enough hash to manipulate difficulty? We'll see. Things happening under the hood.

Yes, we have seen this too and then they dump on Cryptopia which keeps our price down.  I would suggest a couple of things, everyone upgrade your wallets to V1.2 and keep the wallets online - the more, the better.  Second, if you have the capability to mine GUN turn it on and let it run, preferably in a pool where there is more strength in numbers.

What we are seeing is not necessarily a bad thing. But what you are seeing is exactly why we are a Neoscrypt coin.  It takes a significant amount of horsepower to create what he is doing.  IMHO, gross overkill at his hashrate even if for a short time.  At a certain point, no one will buy if he continues at that point, it ceases to be profitable and he will go away.  No guarantees, but we have been around for 3 + years and have seen similar attempts to kill our price in the past.

You will notice, we have wallets out all over the world now and people see our price, our path forward, our potential and it does not matter where they live, if they can make money they will - even with GUN.  If he can make money with that hashpower at 12-13 sats, good luck!

For now, it appears like we have worldwide attention - so please upgrade to V1.2 and get your wallets online and mine GUN if you can......

Anyway.....enough politics.

Looks like right around half of the wallets have upgraded to the GUN V1.2 Release.

Yes, this is good news.  We will get to work on the next series of upgrades very soon since we have over half onboard now.  Additionally, it is interesting to see Bank of America coming online with their own exchange and Craigslist now allowing people to ask for payments in Bitcoin.  You cannot get more mainstream than that.

The usage of cryptos is mostly illegal even now, so I don't think that making firearms-oriented crypto will help this situation!

Hi, I do appreciate your opinion, and am sure it comes from a sincere viewpoint, but one of the great things about cryptocurrencies and gives them strength is that one can have "their own" coin.
I am not quite sure how crypto's usage is mostly illegal for now, but am sure that there probably are many who would like to see it that way.

The mainstream media can portray firearms in a bad light even though common sense says otherwise, and depending on public opinion, yes, a coin associated with guns may seem like a liability, but it can also represent the other side...common sense and freedoms, along with being something for the firearms industry/enthusiast to use.

The problem is not guns, it's mental health.

GunCoin can have it's own strengths.
I believe that firearms do have a place in regard to protection, prevention of crime, sport, and freedoms.
One of the great angles about GunCoin is that to me, it also helps represent the second amendment, without which, the others may be gone by now, or whittled away to nothing.

so 3 years passed, have GUNCOIN any practical use any store ? enywhere ?

3 years ago, gun store owners and the majority of the 2nd amendment community knew nothing about cryptocurrency.  There was BTC and that was about it.  There was no demand for ANY other altcoin.  The vast majority of the altcoins died off and ceased to exist.  Thousands of dollars and BTC was spent on dying coins.  Our small but loyal community kept guncoin going and now the time is right as the whole world knows of bitcoin and many other good altcoins.

Once all of our upgrades are complete and mobile wallet complete and a few more exchanges pick GUN up, it should not be a problem for the firearms community to accept GUN.  Think about it, wouldn't they prefer a current, stable cryptocurrency that has been around for 3 years or a token crowd-funded within the last 6 months, full of hype and promises and overpriced......there simply is no upside in that - it makes no business sense.  To me, the choice moving forward is a no brainer.

This is so true what you are saying here, i hope the community can indeed bring this coin into the population. Im a new investor which thinks this project does have a very very good future ahead..
