I wonder why the attacker didn't spread this out better to disguise it?

They probably trusted the team wouldn't look for it😜

Only 50 posts on here from the official Ionomy account.  You would think they could do a better job.  Especially in a crisis.  If the attacker wanted to have a little fun he could have done a robinhood thing and distributed coins to every small wallet.  That would have broke it for sure.

They'll stop shitcoining as soon as they've extracted enough funds to replace what Garza stole from them.

One thing we have been missing through the latter part of this ordeal is MrCoins cheerleading. Was looking forward to reading how he validated this as positive. If I missed it and someone has that verbal diahrea, could you please post it?

No details, "we're working on it" - fine, but sounds like something that should have been posted a week ago.

https://news.ionomy.com/important-get-ready-for-a-hard-fork/

Difficulty is back to normal so they either found a way to work around the issue or the attacker got bored.

rollback so no need to waste the attackers time.

question though... all those honest masternodes lost profits. people who did wallet to wallet transfers for goods now are out of pocket... how is this right? is huey going to dig into his dev funds and make it right?

if ion was more popular this wouldhave wider reaching issues. its a poor practice rolling back, completely defeats the decentralised no big brother paradigm.

I hope they don't roll back to before the Bittrex wallet was disabled, because that would be really nasty (coins purchased on Bittrex could disappear).

Maybe it's time for them to ditch the whole shitcoining thing and stick to PNGs. I can't see any sane reason why they would keep trying to polish this turd when they clearly don't have the knowledge, or even the right mindset for crypto.

ETH did it twice

ION did it (fucked up a shitcoin clone) twice too, so? Two wrongs don't make it right. And even though I'm not a big fan of ETH I think it's safe to say that they have a much better understanding of what's going on and much better communication too - misguided as it may be at times - with their rather complex product than ionomy can ever do with their cheap shitcoin clones. So apples and oranges, or rather apples and deer droppings.

But hey, if that makes yours bags feel less heavy - have at it.

So no announcement "this evening" (i.e. yesterday). New excuse:

And you should seriously worry and question the team for not finding this sooner or knowing about it and not doing anything. The investors should demand answers as to how this happened and why it was allowed to happen for so long.

A rollback of the Blockchain will destroy an credibility this coin had. Why would one invest in a coin that the team can just roll back the Blockchain and take their coins away. Since this is said to be a decentralized coin, was a consensus taken as the best way to proceed?

there is no excuse for that "Friday night announcement" nonsense but that's been their MO since forever.

@suchmoon I think you been huffing to much Garza Vision. How many Ionomy announcements have been done on Friday in the last 3 months? You would know if you were really in tune with what's been going on in the Ionomy world...

https://news.ionomy.com/

I'd like to say "you're missing the point" but you'd miss it even if I spell it out in crayons for you. Enjoy the magic coin shitting nodes, Sharkie. I'm sure the "team" will announce something, if not today then perhaps some other day. I mean, it took them a year to release an incomplete game so what's a week or two to fix a broken coin. It's not even a crypto project, amirite?

19k blocks, 300k+ coins yesterday (Friday). That's 15 TIMES the usual. It appears to be maxed out at this rate.

@suchmoon The team has not done the  defect announcement and the Friday went by Huh

thats bad you realise right? funny thing is had suchmoon not posted about it i doubt huey would even know about it lol. dev indeed Smiley. wasnt security their primary focus???

The WildShark and Team extends a THANKS to Suchmoon for being a member of the Tiger Team for providing information on this latest defect!

I'm quite sure they will rollback the blockchain. which is why they closed the bittrex wallet
the unpopularity of this shitcoin gives them the ability to rollback with little consequences (you can't spend on chain coins anywhere)

A rebase AND a rollback within 6 months... this must be some kind of a shitcoining record.

i love hueys brilliant pr attitude. he mocks investors with concerns telling them they can complain before and after. not really man of god love thy neighbour material is he? maybe he should stick to sermons. an ideas man doesnt make you a dev. i doubt he could even write a hello world application.

I'm sure he was angling for funny/sarcastic with that one, although even the slackers aren't too happy about the lack of communication. Whatever the situation, there is no excuse for that "Friday night announcement" nonsense but that's been their MO since forever.
