We can say, that there is some rebrand of IRD is coming.
Some cryptos making a new thread after rebranding. So maybe we need to make a new thread to get some attention to IRD, beacuse new thread with new name of the topic and 0 posts will attract new miners. 100%

so do we'll have a new name? Iridium is already a very good name

I don't see any new name in the sources. It's still Iridium.
Probably Alexey meant the new logos which stevebrush posted (courtesy of dREAMsHOT) a few days ago.

I would suggest to let the HF happen and observe over one week if all goes well. And only then make a new thread and make noise, if devs want to make a new thread at all.

Serious problems are much easier to fix as long as there are just a few pools and no exchanges involved.

I first schedule the HF at block 50000 ( in 9 days ) but now, I think it'll be possible to HF at block 48000 (in 6 days), and blocks will become at version 2 with diff implemented. after block 48000, old daemons and wallet won't work anymore.

At which block will the HF occur? 48000?

Edit: I checked the source code and I think it has 50000 for the HF.

The old wallet has no mining function and therefore nobody will keep it open for anything but a few short minutes every couple of days.
The three nodes you mention are probably the three pools.
No, 2 nodes and 1 pool actually.

So the other two pools do not run their own nodes?

BTW, when I set up a node today and synced, my daemon was connecting and fetching blocks from a good dozen of nodes (in the US, Europe, Canada and Russia). I don't know if all of these are on 24/7 or not, since you say there are only 3 nodes 24/7.

Or what did you mean by "currently, we have 3 full nodes (only node, not wallet) running 24/24 7/7 : 2 in USA 1 in France"? I thought it refers to the entire network.

I see you have restarted your pool and it's on the main chain now. The forked chain was obviously 17 blocks long and should be dead now. I was worried that some nicehash idiot would come and point to that pool and make the forked chain the main chain after a few hours. But fortunately nicehash is dead now and I hope it stays that way.

They do, but there are not listed in seeds (hardcoded in wallet and daemons nodes) - the seeds are there to tell the node where to find peers to sync and validate BC

I restart the node to follow the main chain... I added check point. I first schedule the HF at block 50000 ( in 9 days ) but now, I think it'll be possible to HF at block 48000 (in 6 days), and blocks will become at version 2 with diff implemented. after block 48000, old daemons and wallet won't work anymore.

I will make a page to explain this and the procedure to open your wallet file with the new wallet application.

I just test the new node an wallet since about 3-4 days on my pool. the one with Difficulty adjustment... the 2 nodes are running the new node too.
but wait hard fork is scheduled later... we will announce it. Don't run the old node now, hard fork is coming and I will release the new nodes (very) soon
I finally compile successfully the new wallet for windows, packaging... and releasing...

Expect "strange" behaviours during next days

So you tested the new DAA HF daemon on main net and it hard forked unintentionally?

I built the linux daemon from github only to see how it works. Please take your time with the DAA hardfork. Since nicehash is dead now there is now less urgency and things can be worked on with less stress, to get it done properly.

Regarding the zawy DAA, have you noticed that Masari will HF again in a couple of days? I don't know exactly why, because the zawy DAA introduced in v3 works perfect. Supposedly for some additional fine tuning of the DAA.

Which zawy DAA version is going into Iridium? Same as Masari v3, v4 or a different one?

There could be an easy solution to the problem of how to keep lots of nodes online in the network.

The new GUI wallet is a full node anyway (not a SPV wallet). What about leaving the Mining tab greyed out, unless the wallet can detect incoming connections?  Grin

People who are mining will keep the wallet and hence the node open for many hours or even 24/7.

Of course someone might eventually modify it and offer his own binaries which do not include this condition. People not willing to run a node while mining would then have to trust a third-party. No rational person would do that, considering that we talk about a wallet. And allowing incoming connections costs literally nothing as long as blocks are so small and monthly traffic isn't metered.

the old one is a full node too...
currently, we have 3 full nodes (only node, not wallet) running 24/24 7/7 : 2 in USA 1 in France.
