More than 10% of the network has enrolled in the virtual staking so far

We already have several hundred coins enrolled into the Alpha Test. I'm beyond impressed with the response! Please post your updates. If you are staking while you have your local wallet closed, etc

Thanks to everyone who is helping us test the Virtual Offline Staking at http://mmxivcoin.com/stake.html
just joined lol I really need to keep up to date with this thread. I think it a great idea by the way Grin

Yea, we don't really post teasers. Just kinda when things are ready for open testing  Wink

Please remember that we cannot recover and Private Keys, should you lose them. So make sure you have your local wallets backed up at all times. The main goal here is to make Maieuticoin feel like a virtual savings account that earns nearly 1% weekly, rather than 1% yearly like a savings account at a bank. Make sure you back up your savings accounts locally. Our records are used solely for staking purposes and nothing more

So how would we know if it's staking when our wallet isn't open? Would we just notice that we get a bunch of deposits when we do open start our wallet after having it not-run for a while?

Yea. If you have your client closed while coins are in Stake. Once you reload it, you should see all the staking that happened while yours was closed

Don't forget... all you have to do to opt out is to send your coins to a new address. That will remove them from our program completely and we will no longer have a valid Private Key to stake with for your new address

I admit that I may not understand what this is, but I think simulated staking isn't quite the right description. I thought of simulated staking like simulated stock trading meaning the money and trades aren't real. Usually something simulated isn't real. I think what you have developed might be better described as virtual staking?

Either one works. Changed it all to Virtual since that may sound more clear

Please understand this is only open for Alpha Testing: http://mmxivcoin.com/stake.html

No coins will ever be lost, but there may be downtime. You are still able to use the coins in your local wallet while using simulated offline staking
How secure will our private keys be on your server/website?

I actually just added a little popup to answer that question on http://mmxivcoin.com/stake.html near the bottom after I wrote the response here  Wink

They are only passed to me once and discarded as soon as they are live. It's no different than using an address you generated on an exchange, except you have total, local, live in your client control over this one, too. There is no connection between the website and the actual nodes as of right now, so any submitted prior to automation (if we go that route) won't have any correlation at all. They will also be spread out among many, many nodes, so even if one does become compromised, it will not be for a large amount

I'm still undecided on whether I want to automate this system or not

The reason we are offering this service is to make sure as many coins are staking as possible at all times. Not only does this secure the blockchain, but it will ensure every holder is earning their estimated 0.96% weekly interest, whether they have their local client running 24/7 or not

If the wallets are offline how would blocks be found, or will there always be a wallet open somewhere?

Eligible addresses and selected coins will always stake while enrolled in this service, even if the owner's local client is closed  Wink

I thought one of the perks of staking was requiring wallets to be open and creating more connections to the network. I am new to alt's so all of this is new to me.

That is to keep transactions flowing. Blocks are found when coins stake. Coins only stake currently if the wallet is open

We've been doing a lot of testing today with a simple way to simulate offline staking. All the tests have been working 100% flawlessly so far

If successful, this will also provide an easy way to integrate your earnings from the multipool to automatically generate stake
Don't MP earnings start staking as soon as they reach our wallets and age the appropriate time?

Yes, but you have to have your client open to earn stake. If you choose to opt into something like this, you will stake whether you wallet is open or not

Without talking about one other thing we are working on, that's about all I can say so far  Wink
OK, is that the only benefit of what you described (being able to stake without wallet open)? That was unclear with your initial post. I am glad to see that feature as sometimes I forget to restart the wallet. Maybe I should have it automatically start at startup but I'm not sure I want to.

Yes, but there's more we are working on that nobody knows about yet
