Bittrex and Bleu are ready. We'll give polo some time to complete the swap on their end and worst case - enable the markets on Bittrex and Bleutrade if not.

I'm perfectly calm, just covering my bases by posting the PM here - it's disconcerting when someone goes offline as soon as I send a PM.....
I have used a backup to retrieve my NEOS on my Linux daemon:
So, to start a fresh & to keep it as simple as possible, I want swap the balance over to my new windows GUI wallet, as since the coin is now POS I have no need for them on my Linux servers. The smaller amounts I PM'd you about that I used for testing I'm not too bothered about, the above balance is the one I need.
So, 1) what is the correct command to use to create a file that I can then import to the new windows wallet - thus swapping the coins to the new algo?
2) what is the correct directory in the new windows GUI wallet that this file should go into?
3) what is the correct command to import the file into the windows GUI wallet?
I can't think of a simpler way to do it - but if you can, I'm all ears

1. There's no need to use a file we can do this manually. On the command line type this please:
a) neoscoind listaccounts - see how many there are there and which hold those balances
b) neoscoind getaddressesbyaccount
c) neoscoind dumpprivkey
d) in your new neos wallet in the GUI, go to help, then debug, the console and type: importprivkey
Once that's done shut down, type:
a) ./neoscoin-qt -rescan
Let me know if that imported key and balance show up. If the above works, we'll go ahead and take care of it all at once.

Which was also wrong (should have been the home directory) & didn't work. Now I seem to have lost a large amount of coins as the keys are showing zero in my new wallet.

Alright, first of all you've sent me a few messages in private and here and you need to calm down a bit. I've to this point tried helping you, and I'd like to continue doing so. Post here, every one of your addresses you say you lost 1000's of Neos on. If you're going to make the claim publicly, I want the public to see the proof. As for your other addresses, the explorer which is still running on the old chain for this reason in the event someone said they didn't have their coins it would show it:
Address 1: http://explorer.infernopool.com/address/NZ63Uxkh4dwomDSToAmx25duDu4YsvPJN8 - no balance or activity
Address 2: http://explorer.infernopool.com/address/NggJBSGCsJ38BcGhmvQwwFrXKWQcNR4h83 - no balance or activity
Address 3: http://explorer.infernopool.com/address/NiAmMkkXaRJ57WFKpXxaYWaFLg1hfEBgSa - balance of 0.03673699 (old chain) which on the new one post-swap would be 0.00771476
Address 4: http://explorer.infernopool.com/address/NUvYUDdNxysgYcc914LsCpagpaUCEDTGR7 - no balance or activity
Shut neoscoind down (neoscoind stop), then re-run it as such: neoscoind -rescan && tail -f ~/.neoscoin/debug.log and watch for lines that say AddToWallet. Again, if you can post your public keys where you had 1000's of neos, I can verify that they were sent out on the new chain and swapped. I'm here to help, so we'll get you all sorted out - given the proper chance.
Edit: What you've tagged as "wrong" above is not wrong. Your neos are not lost because of the actions you've just taken with your keys. They would only be lost if:
a) You spent them on the new chain after the fact (which isn't the case here)
b) You lost your private keys
They still exist on the chain if they were there to begin with.

OK - I sort of figured it out.....but still the balance is missing.
Copy that file over into the new data directory for the new Neos wallet.
This was wrong - I copied the file to the home directory (as that was where it was dumped) & tried importing it again. No error this time & the keys are in the new wallet - but all are showing zero balances.

I followed your instructions to the letter. I also tried importing the wallet dump file to a windows wallet but got the same error.
This dump was for a rather large amount - I hope I haven't lost this as well......

Do I also have to copy the wallet.dat file to the new wallet?
As a test, I dumped & imported a couple of keys into my new wallet, the addresses are showing in my new wallet, but the balances are not - is this because the new chain isn't activated yet - or did I do something wrong?
I done some searching on how to do a dump/import, but most of the instructions are for older wallet versions - would it be possible for you guys to post a noobfriendly guide on how it should be done for us nontechie types?

Everything has happened already in terms of balances and so forth. I believe there's a dump tool out there that will handle all keys and I'm verifying. Once I do, I'll post the link. If you'd like to PM me a few of your addresses that you imported the keys for as a test - I'll check in the balance files here and see what if anything is the issue.
