A humble Siberian miner
November 13, 2016, 09:43:36 PM
I've got a Seagate PersonalCloud with over 3tb of space I'm not using that I'd like to put up for hosting.  There's a portion of that drive that is "public" and can be used without having to logon to my account.  When I try to select a folder within that as my host storage folder, I get the error "symlink W:\Sia C:\Users\SantasNotReal\AppData\Roaming\Sia-UI\sia\host\storagemanager\b5d869e5: A required privilege is not held by the client."

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this? Thanks!

Running SIA as administrator fixed this for me. Hope that helps.

Why can't SIA UI client work just as any other Windows appliucation? Usually it's not necessary to grant an administrator's priveleges to BitTorrent client, for example.

how i can to make sync Sia wallet version 0.3.3-beta.2 ? dont see no one peers and last block 16335. I remembered that I have some KSia coins minered long time ago, a new wallet do not support wallet.dat file

You must install the latest wallet, 1.0.3.
Create a new wallet there and load your old 0.3.3 wallet into it.
Some people  on the forum in in my country speak that storj works better as a host.
But it is still long long to perfect.. maybe SIA will be better soon Smiley
How these people give reason for Storj better than Sia? By the way, check this thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/altcoins-potential-in-a-year-from-now-list-25082016-1596714 Altcoins potential in a year from now (List) (25/08/2016). Sia has potential x14 Wink

I think maybe the reason for the lack of PR thus far is because the devs are actually doing things the proper way.

Instead of blowing all their time and resources on hyping the product up front, they're actually developing sia slowly and meticulously because they know their hard work and a polished product will speak for itself in the end. Smiley

Nice double bottom on Sia... let's do this!
I hope the curse will recover soon, but I hope more that SIA become realy usefull as decentralized storage

Sia is going to disrupt storage!! Anyone who tried out the platform will agree.

i totally agree
but
i belive somebody should throw some PR behind it
best tech does not mean it wins - right - some PR is really needed to get the word out !!

They recently released their most stable version. I think they might be looking into adding marketing people to the team. If widespread adoption is achieved, sky is the limit. But, I would give it a good 2-3 years to realize its true potential.

WOW!!! This coin cannot stop falling. It is going to be a really long term vision at this rate. Especially if it hits 1 sat.

BTC and ZEC are providing Sia investors with the best buying opportunity in five months.  I'll be buying all the way down to one sat Grin

That's what PPL always say when the asset their emotional abt starts going down. PPl said that about gold and silver too until they needed the money and liquidated at the bottom or had no money left. Luckily this cant be bought on margin.

Sure, I can't disagree with those statements one bit.  I'm also a huge au_ag dude as well.  Being a conscious investor though, I have the wherewithal to properly manage my risk when investing and not make delusional decisions which leave me liquidating my assets at a loss (i.e. not buying high and selling low).  This is one coin that I don't mind seeing go down in price because I'm aware of the potential and know where it's ultimately headed.

The sia devs are hard working, dedicated and active, which can't be said for all that many coins.  This is an organic project and people will take notice sooner or later.  Let's see where we are in a year, partner.

p.s. Please spare me the part about a year in crypto being an eternity as well.  SIA is an investment, not a lottery ticket

I agree.
I spare nothing. I spew Truth, fact, and unbiased observation as I think I see it.
1 yr is a lot in crypto but small in the world of investing (But pl say don't look at crypto as a Investment but as a short term play, I disagree). But I must say I am amazed how low it has gotten despite the potential and development I see with this coin.
Maybe it's a advertising/communication fault. Or was maidsafe  first on the seen and they stole the show? I believe in SIA just like with OKCASH, because of continuous innovation and original long term dev and support team.

Crypto markets are dysfunctional,  price discovery just doesn't happen reliably which means there's a huge advantage to investors who take the time to really study all these alts and assets. Most crypto types don't even bother with details, so they're the people subsidising the guys with a work ethic solid enough to read 6-8 hours a day. This situation wont last forever, so enjoy it while you can. When the crypto market starts operating 'normally' the era of massive x20 gains will be over.

where can one buy siafunds?
So siafunds aren't effected by miner dumps?

Siafund trading is now active on https://bitsquare.io/ which is a decentralized exchange, if you're not already aware.  Siafunds are only traded in whole.  In other words, no fractional trading.....it's all or nothing.

I'm not the subject matter expert though, so if you really want to see the true community in action and have full access to everything Sia, you should most definitely find your way over to the sia slack.  Strong, vibrant community with over 1400 members and the devs are active daily Smiley

Will sia work on a website wallet? I think that would be very handy. I cant install the wallet due to limited storage space on my C: drive Sad
