Actually, I have an issue. It is the temperature in my datacenter. Consequently 4 out my miners are hashing ~ 1430, remaining ~1400.

Is there anything wrong with me trying to get max out of my miners?

Of course not. I just don't want you to get your expectations too high, spend a lot of money on moving to different DC and end up with very small increase in hash-rate. If you improve temperatures your miners will give you 10-60GH more.

Of course not. I just don't want you to get your expectations too high, spend a lot of money on moving to different DC and end up with very small increase in hash-rate. If you improve temperatures your miners will give you 10-60GH more.

This should give everyone some more peace of mind, as it should make the sp30s´ performance less temperature dependant and deployment in some less perfectly cooled facilities available.

The change in DB is around a factor 7 decrease in noise level, which is really nice. The sound quality should also be different, with less of a high-pitched whine.

Performance will always be a function of temperature, because you'll want every tiny bit of extra performance which doesn't cost you significant power. Getting the ASICs 5C cooler facilitates that.

That is why it says less. Cooling capacity is ΔT* airflow.

More airflow should guarantee proper cooling even at higher temperatures, or the extraction of more heat at equal temperatures.

Airflow is equally as relevant as temperature, and installing better fans is easier than cooling down a whole building Wink

This assumes the same surface area of coolers, aswell as equal materials used (sp10/sp30).

Have you gotten any information about the maximum performance of the ordered PSUs?
I assume they have a little less headroom than the ~+20% of the sp10s PSUs?

SP10s were only 'annoyingly' loud because of that darned bugged PSU fan, the actual unit's fans are fine at 40%.


yeah well again it was same price more/less for hosting...and did not need 6 month hosting 1 month down setup fees and shipping (approx 350 bucks) if/when i will need
the heat from the beastie in oct/nov or so to help heat the house (ie can open the bsmt window heh)

but think if i just put in a window a/c with a regular foil a/c wire mesh a/c coil ducting (flexable) and just have it loop over the top of the sp30 and pour a/c air on such
from my 'high' basement window with the window a/c unit (which was given to me think it is 12k unit) all should Huh be well

but yeah with diff rises looks like i will do a lot of work just to get to the same amount of btc i coulda/shoulda go by going and buying at www.coinbase.com

gonna be quite the dump on difficulty 25% this last pop an hour or so ago and estimate already of another 25% plus on next diff rise

well if btc goes up in USD past 700 usd I should be OK and make $$$ over equip purchase but 'knock wood' should be ok....but hate using btc rises to 'prop up' a miner

even my knc jupiter 550gh last oct making say 49 btc was not a good choice in that I'd have 80 coin if I'd had just bought coin last july when i paid for the beast

but at least then I had an excuse..ie newbies never drop 7.5k (with power supply) on coin direct....have to jump in with equip seems most of the time I was no exception

but www.coinbase.com and the occasional buy is looking very attractive....too much drama the last year etc....imho

It looks likely it all has moved past the home asic miner and into large commercial farms at this point (now i know how the gpu guys feel)

Well, i don´t know the average temperature in August but if your basement has some kind of window (or there is enough heat transfer through the walls / into the rest of the house)
You could be fine.

Some kind of portable AC should come in handy though, if your gear arrives in August / September.

You can still see and buy one then, though.

Is your home electricity price so good?

it is 15c kwh but with the elec load the elec co said i can get commercial rates for my house even...the fees are higher the kwh is lower..but i may
be able to knock it down to 12c kwh realistically

(note: my util says my kwh is 8.6c kwh but it almost an even 15c kwh when you add taxes/fees...so that is deceptive will have to carefully look it over see if it is worth it)

anyway co-hosting was about the same price then add setup and shipping etc did not pay for me in that i likely will be heating the house (or could) middle of October

my bsmt is old limestone block 10' high type upper midwest bsmt

no house a/c so will likely put an a/c in basement window for aug (titan from knc on order) and sept (sp30)

with hopefully?Huh little use of the a/c unit  just maybe aug and 1/2 of september...can get by with heating house after those months?

with any extra heat after that point is less for the furnace  (knock wood)

probably not my wisest move

This should put the airflow of the sp30 to a maximum of around 400cfm, which is more than 2.7 times that of the sp10. (While hopefully only using around 2 times the power)

well found this db level of a couple heat pumps one 93 db which really sucks

the other around 69db

anyway should be ok in my bsmt using this as a 'ref' of sorts

I just bumped the Voltage up .. a little.. Smiley and monitor hash rate reading at the pool. only been running these setting a couple of days and will be holding it here unless anyone sees i should lower my voltages. also what brand fans are you using ..if you give us customers notice we can perhaps dig up an 'optional' fan quieter that we may want to add

Early estimations shows that from 1m distance noise level will be ~68dB (PSU side, fans at 80%, power supplies at max load)
Under same conditions, the SP10 noise level is ~74dB
We will have exact numbers only when the ASICs arrive

i happen to have a pre-May SP10 and 2 x May SP10s. Pic on left is pre-May (gaederopus) and pic on right is slow May batch (princeps). Although, it should be noted that i have the SP10 s hosted in very different locations and it's not the best situation to compare as one unit (gaederopus) has a bank of 8 chips down. but you'll get the idea.

Small debt to Zvisha (going over my hundreds of emails...)

The hybrid SP30 (SP30 Mgmt, SP30 Mainboard, AlteraFPGA emulating RockerBox ASIC) is working perfectly.
The sw is ready, just waiting for the ASIC ...



with something like the above...could you put a bunch of fans in and run it up and give us a guess on how much noise this bestie is gonna make

(yeah no data center plan to use heat eventually to heat house i'm sooooo cheap)

not sure if above makes sense but 6 fans or whatever going in the closed case MAY give us some idea of noise?

1, 2 and 6 are already running at maximum supply current (from the PSU).

Do the other ones maybe have a little increased temperature? It is hard to read from the text, as the fomatting gets messed up.

By the end of the next week, I will have temperatures near 25. Before then, I guess, I can do nothing about it.....
