We are thinking about opening up the buying portion of iGotSpots.com this week. Still undecided.

We would be buying silver ounce coins and rounds and paying you in Spots. Anyone interested? Send me a PM and we can discuss details before it goes live

I don't see anything that looks funny on the network other than what you're saying. Was that the only time?

I think I have seen it before but didn't not analyzed it to the same extent.

With spots I have noticed that credit for the found block is only given when next block is found. Any other coin would give credit as soon as it is confirmed with a network (it could be retracted later).

The pool with the high hash power can exploit its position to reject block if it finds two blocks in a row.

The block times are 70 seconds

The block target times are 70 seconds, but finding a block is always about luck at any difficulty.
Still, I'm wondering why the block reward is only given when the next block found - it is only so for spots.

I have found a block (13111) at 08/18/13 20:43:39 and several minutes later at 08/18/13 20:46:17, it was orphaned by 2 other blocks. I have 56 connections to the network, so I'm very well connected. Did some pool or individual rejects blocks on purpose? I thought that an orphan may only happen if blocks are found within several seconds of each other. In this case some node didn't accept my block until it found another block of his own overrode the chain with 2 blocks of his own.

Both of those 2 blocks (13111 (found 2 seconds after my block) and 13112) went to the same address MKFCpCMXJTgATgby1BkkJz4tXXwTuvrgS4

Today is the day! iGotSpots, LLC has been officially announced as a legal business, based in Wisconsin
Visit our main page at iGotSpots.com to learn about very limited public investment opportunities

1500 Spots for a working Android App
500 Spots for a stable online wallet
200 Spots for the first p2p Pool

49 Spots per Block with 70 Second Intervals

3 Confirmations and Difficulty Retargeting based on last 21 blocks

Random Spotter Blocks*

*Spotter Block will pay out exactly 205x a normal block or 10,045 Spots
It is straight probability so it's certainly possible no one ever hits one or a couple hit in a row
There is a .01% chance for any block to be a Spotter Block

COMING SOON - Precious Metal Exchange
Exchange your Spots for gold and silver once Spots are more frequently traded and exchanged.  If we were to launch our gold and silver plans now prior to exchanging of Spots, then we would be setting the price. Instead, we want the Free Market to decide. After the price of Spots has stabilized, we will roll out our Precious Metals Program. This is not a pump and dump project; we are in it as support for the long haul. We don't even generate coins fast enough to make it worth doing. As of 7/22, there are still less than 50,000 total Spots in the network

As soon as the free market lets the price of Spots settle in, we can set the price for bullion
Spots will be available for trade in gold and silver in the coming weeks.

About the Launch
I will post the links, add the nodes. Then I'm going to go smoke a cig so the first block is mined publicly by someone else and time stamped after the post. Then I'm going to start up my miners.

Self moderated post. Only one person will always be deleted, nobody else will ever be moderated by anyone. SaltySpitoon, and any future mod, I ask you leave this thread alone, and do nothing to it at all. Let people speak 100% freely with no worries of anything happening for anything they say.

UPDATE: 7/20/2013 - 1 am Central, 2 am Eastern - Spots are now LIVE. Good luck!

UPDATE: 7/22/2013 - Why is the coin named Spots?
Many people keep thinking about them as spots on your carpet because I own a carpet cleaning company. That's not the reason. Some of you may remember a while back I was talking about taking Litecoins for silver and gold. That's where Spots come in. Spot Price is what precious metals are worth at any given time. The future of Spots are in precious metals. More information will be released with no specific time frame in order. I can tell you it will be soon, and if you followed this thread, you would see how quickly we got 2 pools, a faucet, working clients on Windows, Mac, and Linux from the launch, that soon means soon. We also had a very smooth and fair launch, with no premine and most of the Spots I've personally mined from the two pools have been given away for bounties, as well as just to get more people to download the client.

My whole point is that this coin was created for a specific reason in mind. It's not a joke coin or a project getting set up for a pump and dump.

Alright, guys, sorry for not being too active recently. We have been busy filling orders.

So all the silver bars have been sent out and everyone has their tracking number or their package already delivered.

The last round of silver rounds is going out on Monday, so I will have tracking numbers for the rest of you on Monday, and I would expect them no later than Thursday.

Thanks for the orders, everyone. Stop selling Spots so cheap, it's way too many per coin right now! Here's a few pictures of the rounds, I forgot to take some new ones of the bars. These things are shiny as shit, you can see the top of my porch in the reflections and it's the middle of the night

Why the drop in price this big? Should I sell out or keep my coins?

I wouldn't sell this low, I'm buying a shitload of them while the price is this low

Had all the nodes from the OP and was up and running fine until yesterday...All node connection lost and restarting, or removing all nodes from .conf, fixed the issue.

I compiled and ran spotsd on another server/location - Got some peer connections that I found and decided to post here in case anyone else has this issue:

Not sure its wise to sell now as prices are back to the pre-announcement range. Though, of course it may go lower - I can't predict.

I did sell off when the Copper Bars were launched. I may buy back if prices go lower.

If you find a website selling it for cheaper in cryptos I will beat their price. I'm not talking about like sellers on bitmit that's not dealers. I mean standalones

Our competition is websites like coinabul. We can not compete with the prices if you use straight cash. We are the cheapest that I can find for bitcoin though. We are also the only ones that take litecoin and spots as well
