Sorry if this has been asked before, but any thoughts on switching from SpreadX11 to a multi-algo approach? Maybe SpreadX11 + SpreadSHA256d + SpreadScrypt + SpreadGroestl + SpreadQubit... something like that?

Azure listing looks pretty straightforward:

https://github.com/Azure/azure-quickstart-templates

Syscoin goes from $300k marketcap to $3m marketcap in less than a few months. Gets lots of free publicity.

Not sure why.

I'm not saying the name shouldn't be changed but why are we voting to change it to OpenStream? Where did this name come from and where did every other option go? I'd like to vote for staying with SpreadCoin since as far as I know the other name has no purpose. I'm all for changing if there's a point to it.

I would like to explore other options as well. I'm not against Openstream at all and in fact do like it (although someone did say it may already be Trademarked - that may or may not pose issues in the future - probably not though). I just want to make sure this is a thorough discussion.

We will have to live with this for the rest of the project and we don't want to change more than once.

I wonder too what sort of plans there are to make this a reality - like designing new graphics & such.

Places Openstream is already taken:
http://www.openstream.com/
http://openstream.info/

Plus a trademark on it in US
http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=tess&state=4801:jryvyv.1.1

Love the name idea, but perhaps another should be discussed.

Edit: We could consider SpreadStream
Combines the old with the new. Includes the idea to stream any data over servicenodes. As well as Spread relates to decentralization.

If the goal of Spreadcoin isn't to be a currency, I'm accepting OpenStream : it's pretty. But don't miss to change the design. Adam Trat is a good designer, but he doesn't do anything.

It's the true believers buying buying buying.

Believe that georgem will release Testnet in the coming days..... phahahaha

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zjm1DRMEyUQ

Frodo: "I can’t do this, Sam."

Sam: "I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here.

But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened?

But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something."

Frodo: "What are we holding onto, Sam?"

Sam: "That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.”

Georgem will deliver!

I think georgem will need some days to control his Ethereum investment. After that, he can work on Spread.

The interesting question is to peg at 20% or 30% of bitcoin's value by becoming a sidechain, or to remain external?

How would becoming a sidechain provide that much value? (Just looked it up - becoming a sidechain would enable us to benefit from the network effect of Bitcoin, is that the only thing that would drive value?) / How are you getting those numbers?

That's over 100 dollars per SPR.  Shocked

This is another reason for a name change.  I'm still up for Openstream, as in - open source streaming services.  Ticker = Open

My thoughts on a name change if anyone cares to read:

I'm in agreement with coins on this. While "Spreadcoin" is great because is embodies the "decentralized" vision we are going for here, as we progress further with this project I think we will want a name that encompasses more than just the idea of a decentralized cryptocurrency. Obviously, what we're going for is far grander than that, so a name that is more inclusive of the vision of decentralized services/ supporting other cryptocurrencies would be more fitting. I think a new name would also be better for branding/advertising to businesses. Imagine a poster/headline as an advertisement for a second:

"Spreadcoin: Decentralized Business Intelligence Platform"

and

"Openstream: Decentralized Business Intelligence Platform"

I think the latter will look more official. Changing the project's branding to encompass more of what it will do is the right way to go in my opinion.

That said, I really do like the current ticker, and I don't see why we would necessarily have to change that. It could be sort of like Ethereum's Ether. Or Factom's factoids.

But instead it's Openstream's SPR!

Believe it or not, we just joined the race become a bitcoin second layer. We'll probably get there before the lightning network.

Lol

But I'm sure it's the fact that Georgem has actually put some serious thought into the collateral implementation, so he just needs to get on do it.

lol. Let me believe it's the reddit!

I messed around with the reddit again today and I think it looks a lot better:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SpreadcoinOfficial/

This is fantastic!

nice job, it keeps looking better and better.

Thanks, trying to make it look aesthetically pleasing for when we start having more people in and out. This will surely happen when service nodes are being tested and subsequently released because people will have a ton of questions about setting things up. Just prepping for the storm  Wink
