My admonishment of georgem for his casual abuse of “official” was in pursuit of a mature level of discussion *.

This has been the official spreadcoin thread for quite some time now.
So what is your agenda now?

In the same irresponsible way that you gave away access to spreadcoin's github to way too many people (without doing any kind of background check)
you now want to redefine what the word "official" means, right?

That should be fun.

But fear not, I am here to clean up the mess, and there is a lot of work ahead of me.

Stop trolling the community. Spreadcoin is an open source project, in the context of which the term “official” is semantically vacuous.
Doesn't the code need to be shared to make it open source?  It's not open source yet...

I'll respond to your question in the “other” thread, I don’t intend to disturb the waters here. My admonishment of georgem for his casual abuse of “official” was in pursuit of a mature level of discussion *.

Cheers

Graham

* Edit: A futile gesture, I fear.

About 12 months ago you said that you didn't have access to Mr Spread's code with the original masternode implementation. Have you found it now?

Are you just making stuff up now?

BTW...

How are the crowncoin whitepapers coming along?

I heard you guys ran into a forking problem...
... you do sound a little bit more pissed than usual...

If you don't agree that this is the official thread, then please create your own or post in this thread here:

I agree that this is about open source, and as I said, as soon as I have a beta version of the spreadwallet ready I will open source everything.
You have a problem with that?  Cool

Go ahead, why hasn't this been done yet? You can even base it on mr.spread's abandoned masternode implementation.

..., including funding devs like Georgem - who knows, might even be a way to contribute to the Patreon thing.

Dev funding through Patreon (and donations) already works fine and better than I ever expected.
So I don't think that additional schemes are necessary, and I think you know my opinion about ICOs.
I just need more patrons.
You interested? I am releasing the next update to my patrons later today.

I've been thinking, maybe it's worth considering creating a SpreadClassic fork of some sorts.

Go ahead, why hasn't this been done yet? You can even base it on mr.spread's abandoned masternode implementation.

And the funny thing is, we can then run both forks side by side within the spreadwallet.

But don't call it SpreadcoinClassic, because official Spreadcoin is already as classic as it gets.  Grin

Will do some more thinking during Feb and maybe announce a proposal that could work for everyone, including funding devs like Georgem - who knows, might even be a way to contribute to the Patreon thing.
Sounds very interesting. I'd support it.

Hey Georgem,

I noticed that I didn't receive a preview version. Would there be any chance I could see it?

Thanks!

Show me your ongoing support and I will put you back in my patron-list quicker than you can say "fud".

Thanks!

I've never watched a project run by a developer who has no concern about the user's feelings and expectations...

Imagine the outcry if Peter Wuille or Gregory Maxwell based their decisions on some PR-Investors "feewings"....
You really just don't get it, do you?  Grin

If I run a bakery selling bread, and some guy comes in and demands vegetables, and then starts fudding because his "feewings" are hurt...
... why would I be concerned about this guy's expectations?
I want to bake the best bread in the world and make my customers happy.

So why would I care about centralized blockexplorers when I am selling decentralized solutions?

George, you would do well to stop dismissing people's questions and concerns as FUD.

Greg Maxwell doesn't base his decisions on his user's feelings.  He bases them on the advice, suggestions, knowledge, contributions and even mistakes of his community.  He also responds to people he disagrees with without insulting them.

Are you kidding, do you ever read his reddit comments? (especially the ones he deletes quick)

Lol, fair point.

"He is arrogant to the extreme, destructive/disruptive to social circles and as an extension decision-making (as he must ALWAYS be right), and thus incapable of being any kind of valuable contributor."

Just trying to get my head around what would attract somebody to choose Spreadwallet over an alternative.

BTW, what alternative were you thinking about here?  Tongue

Decentralize Everything
I don't want to guess what attracts/motivates people,
I want to "decentralize everything",
which in turn will attract/motivate people who believe in decentralization.

(decentralize everything - you even have it written under your avatar, but why again?)

We shouldn't care about what people think who give a crap about decentralization.
Why should we base our decisions on their feelings and expectations?

BTW, the blockexplorer is just one section within the spreadwallet.

More to come soon... I will need to clean up the forum/website/threads to better explain the spreadwallet/spreadcoin and more.

I believe that too many critical systems in the world are centralised in a way that makes it easier for people to be exploited. My primary belief in decentralisation is that it empowers people to have better freedom of choice.  Secondary to that is the fact that centralised systems are vulnerable and I see too many business disasters on a regular basis.  One day one of those business disasters will have a profound negative impact on a large number of people, not just financially.

I've never watched a project run by a developer who has no concern about the user's feelings and expectations. I see a conflict already...surely you care about what your Patron users think? If you don't keep them happy, the money stops. Its going to be interesting to see how this pans out.

A few questions if I may.

What attracts people to download Spread wallet instead of using an online block explorer?

Do people people really want to download a wallet and a full blockchain for block explorer functionality?

Just trying to get my head around what would attract somebody to choose Spreadwallet over an alternative.

BTW, looking to buy some hardware again.

I placed 11850 SPR at 2000 Satoshis,
I want to revamp my MacBook Pro with 8Gbyte and an SSD (It currently only has 2Gbytes and a small 100 GByte SATA),
and also buy a 2-port KVM switch so that I can integrate my macbook through displayport into my main screen/mouse/keyboard setup.
After that, there might even be enough left for yet another Raspberry Pi,  Cool

Thanks everybody.
