If nobody else volunteers I will do an installation video.
This is a very good welfare project. As long as you have a passport, you can mine and save your private key. It is also the simplest blockchain project in the world.

Then maybe you could also add the Turkish passport to the list?

According to Wikipedia:

Quote
Turkish Biometric passports (Turkish: Biyometrik pasaport), compatible with the new ICAO standards, have been available since 1 June 2010

Turkish Biometric passports are now supported.

There is a new version of the UBIC Wallet android app available. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=network.ubic.ubic&hl=de
Do not install it from the play store if you are using F-Droid. I'll trigger the F-Droid update later.

Of course, make sure you have a backup your private keys.

Unfortunately the release of the UBIC wallet on the iOS App Store failed because a company account is required to publish cryptocurrency related apps.
I am working on a solution.

so this project has passports that can let you go to different countries?
No, the projects let's you receive a cryptoUBI. You can scan the NFC chip of your passport when you generate a new address to prove you are not a bot and in return you get a share of every block that is minted.

if you say that the access to International Civil Aviation Organization Public Key Directory is soon not mandative anymore for ubic to work, that may allow more countries to get a ubic-currency, right? Sounds exciting Wink

Yes, but I cannot check if their DSC certificates are compatible without having seen one before.
But it is a good thing not to be dependent on one single website anymore.
The CSCA Masterlists unlike the DSC certificates are available from several sources including:
 - https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/schengen-master-list-pilot
and so on...

its a good concept but i doubt it will work

Have a look at the block explorer at ubic.network: 51 passports are allready registered, no matter that it is a low profile project. UBIC might enable a lot of unique applications soon with its concept of sybil resistance, all independend from the idea of basic income. Sybil resistance is the key.

We have kind of a problem. I checked the https://download.pkd.icao.int/ website for the latest DSC (Document Signing Certificate ) and it seems that at least Germany and Austria are not publishing theirs anymore, or they are both very late with their release.

The good news is that there is a workaround, the DSC is always present on the NFC chip of the E-Passport and can therefor be extracted from there. From now on when a user is posting it's passport registration transaction it will include the DSC certificate from the passport.

This is a lot of work and this is why I haven't done it yet, but once implemented it will provide a lot of advantages and no more waiting times to register on UBIC when you just got your passport issued.

Also accepting DSCs from user input is not a security threat as each DSC is signed by the Country Signing Authority and therefor it is not possible to forge one.
