I think people genuinely get stuck on the idea of... well I paid $1300 for this magic box, as long as I get that back in BTC value i'm doing ok. And they ignore what else they could have done with that same money.

One of the main reasons I jumped on an August kit was my hope that if it comes before the September bloodbath, at least I have a little extra chance at ROI.  I also have bought and held the same value in BTC as a sorta experiment, we shall see how things turn out in Aug 2014.

However, this will be the last I say on the subject in this thread. I think too many of these ASIC buy threads have turned into ROI fights, and while a valid concern, isn't what this particular thread is about.

I've been doing all of my calculations based on 150 mil difficulty, and I'm all good. Smiley Wink But I'm anticipating 150 in late Sept. I'm guessing 60 mil difficulty by the end of August.

Wow, Is this for real?  You'll need like 1 Th/s to make any sort of $ unless the price of bitcoin goes up to $400.  I'm kind of thinking that it's just to late to get in the mining game.  You need like $40,000.

Can anyone advise me and if it's a good Idea to get just a starter kit?  I have one ordered and paid for but now I'm having second thoughts.

Part of me thinks that these calculators are inaccurate to discourage new miners from starting.

The price of bitcoin is of NO CONSEQUENCE to profitability. When are people going to understand this?? Price is a constant when it comes to ROI because it's a spot traded currency and you always have the option of buying and holding BTC instead of purchasing mining equipment.

Preach it brother!

As far as I know, no one can see into the future.  We can just speculate and use past history as a model for future events.  That said, you can use math to run a monte carlo simulation to see what some simple variations of value, difficulty and time can have on an investment.  From there only you can decide if you want to take the risk based on your interpretation.
I typicaly start with this Calculator  http://www.coinish.com/calc/#  to make some rough esimates.

Did you see the thread with the pictures of all the Avalon chips ready to go? http://imgur.com/a/GR0e3

That, with the Bitfury chips and possibly KnCminer in September. I think 150MM difficulty might be a bit conservative.  Tongue

I've always liked GT-R, especially R32, if money was no object then the new R35 for sure. Not sure if you guys know in the USA but I used to have a 1991 Nissan GTi-R aka baby Godzila, was based on the Pulsar/Sunny floorplan but with 2 doors and came with 4WD and a turbo'd 2litre that had about 240hp stock at 1260kg, obviously I never kept it standard and did all the usual mods.

Not to tie up this thread, HURRY UP and give me my ASIC god dammit

Bitcoin / Crypto mining Hardware.
I can't support you if you buy from another customer, sorry.  It just gets to be too much to try to handle it.  If you come to an agreement its between you guys.  It causes a problem if you want to return it, or especially if you want to get refunded.  The guy you bought it from won't hold onto your money for you...probably a one-way sale.

[EDIT] I won't ship to you directly either.  Product has to go first to my customer who then has to ship it to you.  Hope you guys understand...sorry about your head gasket, that shit never happens with good timing.

Totally understand Dave  i will retract my offer and continue as normal and just have to suck it up and smash
my creditcard harder in debt  Grin
