And I know it's a leap to devote your time or your professional skillset to something you aren't getting paid for, but if you hold 10000 via, you are a marketer, and spend some time developing materials that get a few businesses to adopt it, and it goes to even just .001, I'd say you've been pretty fairly compensated. You're all effectively owners of this "business" ("movement" is a much better way to say it, as the impact is far beyond monetary). It's that switch from being a passive investor, to an active part of the revolution (which crypto 100% is) that needs to happen.

Right now, this (and every crypto community) is full of people just sitting on the sidelines, hoping someone makes the money for them. Drak was trying to be nice about it, but that's laziness, and antithetical to what decentralized currency is all about.

Drak,

You can speak with Bitkee to add VIA to their supported coins. They make metal wallets. Several months ago I talked with them about one coin and I have good impression from those guys. It can be another nice feature that VIA has.

At this point I'd like to have some strong words with you all. No offence is meant by the following, but I see a pattern emerging we need to deal with and I need to express my opinion quite strongly.

Viacoin is an open source project which thrives on community. I don't like that everyone says "drak you should contact these or that people/company" all the time, it's not my job, its yours. Viacoin is not a company, remember that, it's a software movement. The only way an open source project survives is if the community each take it upon themselves to spread the word and drive adoption. It's called grass roots marketing. No one needs permission. I quietly promote adoption of viacoin all the time (who do you think is responsible for getting listed on pock.io or coinpayments for example), but you are wrong if you think I must solely be responsible for it. How do you think Doge became such a phenomenon? It wasn't anything to do with the devs, it was all community.

My focus is on technology, because by making something awesome, that the world can all benefit from. Please stop asking me to do this or that and spend that time instead contacting these companies yourself and making efforts to build the community.

One other consideration - companies are being contacted by "coins of the day" every day, so the only thing that going to make viacoin stick out from all those shout outs is volume of requests. One lone dev reaching out is not going to cut the mustard. Hundreds of shibes on the other hand... that's why you see Doge adoption everywhere. Another thing, is the community can leverage their contacts in ways that would be impossible for me. Grassroots marketing is simply unparalleled.

I know there are many of you who are quietly promoting, already, and thanks to you all, but those of you who arent, it's time you took action rather than waiting around for someone else to do the work.

Nailed it.

I would add though that I think the reason people have an expectation is because there was an ICO, and they think the money raised from that to be used for things like marketing, etc... (I know this is flawed, but I'm just pointing out why people think this way)

The best part about crypto as opposed to the stock markets is that you can, on a very local scale, directly impact whether the coin succeeds or fails. You should adopt a different mentality about investing in crypto. There is no secret man behind the curtain determining whether your investment fails or succeeds as there is in a Fortune 500 company. You have access to every bit of info on this coin. If you believe it's one of the better ones (I do), then you can buy some and either:

a) sit around and hope the price skyrockets one day because the creator (a dev) miraculously turned into a marketer, salesman, and all the other people involved in a coin's success all at once.

b) do something about it yourself

c) if you're not sure what you can do, contact me, tell me your skillset, and I'll find something for you to do, even if not right away

I'm nobody. I'm not paid by drak. But I know Viacoin and ClearingHouse are some of the best tech in crypto and deserve to be on the big stage w/ Lite, Dark, and Bitcoin. The sooner everyone who is holding and occasionally chiming in on this thread realizes that, the quicker this thing can take off.

BC was born on February and it was confirmed to integrate with coinkite in early April. BC succeeded in 2 months, very awesome, hope via can do that, too.

FYI, this was in response to a competition they were holding. Here is their current stance on alts https://coinkite.com/faq/alts
But you should still put the coin in their radar.

We can send email to this site, BC did it and we also can list there.

I think that is a good idea. Didnt erik mention that he and some others were working on pr material? Is this ready erik?

If not, we should just start to write them an email. What do the others think? Is it realistic or a too-big-shot?

Life, Love and Laughter...
someone in the via community who has a good rep and who is regarded highly should issue a 'token' in clearing house, and all via collected from the sales of the said tokens should be used for giveaways, promotions, contests and such to help the community grow.

wow this was fast Wink

However, we cannot assume that the merchants will all come to us like the fabolous bitstickers! So, we need to coordinate to push for it: http://www.reddit.com/r/viacoin/comments/2lij86/convince_coinpaymentsnet_merchants_to_accept_via/

Hi all,

it is great that we were added to coinpayments.net with many merchants implementing it!

So far so good. We, the community, need to convince the indiviudal merchants to accept via through coinpayments. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Should we find an important merchant on their store directory https://www.coinpayments.net/store-directory--1 which we would like to see accepting via?

Personally, I would like to see http://seansoutpost.com/ accepting via (although I cant find any coinpayments option on their site....)

You are welcome to also note your favorite merchant on reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/viacoin/comments/2lij86/convince_coinpaymentsnet_merchants_to_accept_via/
