It's good to see the price down and I have just bought some coins for a while .
How long does it take to release MTP algo ? I have been known that i will be released in this month. Is there any change for official MTP launching?

Final MTP is running on testnet already. Already set to go live on block 47,500.

great news dev thanks!

Not a potential competition Cheesy Definite competition. Just making sure we tidy up a few things.

I'm not sure which other coins with original development are delivering though but we are working furiously on the wallet updates. Will post updates as soon as we get them.

Bitcoin Plus (XBC) is exploding in price and privacy oriented as well as POS.

This is direct competition to Zcoin...So now you have Zcash, Monero and Bitcoin Plus to dominate...

When are you starting to do some serious marketing to make sure you are not keeping miles behind these coins... at the end of the day only one will be the leading anon crypto... So is Zcoin hungry enough to win? Will you make an effort to get on Poloniex? Any big articles planned in the Economist, Time Magazine?? Maybe an interview on CNBC???

Guys, Cryto is mainstream now... get Zcoin out of the shades

+1

Add Cloak to the list as well.

This space is getting very crowded. The competitors are moving to claim this space, and are much further along. It's tough to try and play catch-up.

There was said to be great things released this month, with marketing promise, yet all investors have seen is a testnet release, slow-syncing wallet, and a potential competition for a miner weeks down the road?  Pretty disappointing. Others are delivering.

Hopefully things are going to turn around for zcoin...before the concept is an afterthought.

No it's not. Bitcoin Plus hides IP, not transactions.

With the test net wallet getmininginfo query says zero hashes per second is this right? Considering I was getting 5000 hps with one core on main net

MTP with final specifications on Testnet

Quote
We are happy to announce that MTP with its final parameters has been released on testnet! You can view our Testnet block explorer here.

[...]

Over the next few days, we’ll be announcing the full details of the miner bounty program where a total of USD21,000 will be awarded to the best open source miners for CPU and GPU. If you’re interested, please do drop by our Slack and join the #minerdevcompetition channel.
Those who are interested in participating in the test and mining (within the wallet) on the testnet can test our pre-release version. Linux and Mac binaries are already available and Windows will come soon!
We should also be releasing reference CPU and GPU miners in a few days as well for everyone to give mining a go!

Very nice Smiley

Well you can't factor in the mobo and ram because you need that for GPU mining anyway although you can divide it with the GPUs you put on that mobo. However you can mine with your CPU and GPU at the same time with that same mobo as well.

According to djm34's initial tests the CPU/GPU ratio based on hashrate is not that far but that remains to be seen once optimized miners are developed. Currently it's about 1:3 (assuming an 8 core CPU) so if you look on a cost standpoint it might be similar which would be ideal but remains to be seen. Cheesy Gotta step into the unknown!

Can't find the Windows CUP miner by Wolf0?
Does any one know how to mine Zcoin using CPU, the official guide seems to be broken? Any recent youtube video?

CPU Miner by aizensou but compiled by Wolf0

There's another CPUminer https://github.com/JayDDee/cpuminer-opt

This has lyra2z support!

your too late for now mabye after MTP release

CPU mining MTP will not be profitable, except maybe the first few weeks if there is enough chaos.

It is a very, very GPU-favoring algorithm (8kbit stride!).  I think that's okay.  But I also think the people who wrote the MTP paper should be up-front about this.  They were wrong, very very wrong, about their claim that GPUs would have no advantage over CPUs mining Equihash:

Quote
The observable speedup on multi-core CPU and GPU is not that big ... Thus the total advantage of GPU over CPU is about the factor of 4

https://www.internetsociety.org/sites/default/files/blogs-media/equihash-asymmetric-proof-of-work-based-generalized-birthday-problem.pdf

Of course this was completely wrong.... show me a CPU that can mine equihash at 25% the hashes/$ or hashes/J of Claymore's GCN miner (see below).
That said the MTP PoW is very, very impressive, clearly the most advanced memory-hard PoW in existence.

Just don't sell it as something it's not (and doesn't need to be).

The best CPU miner (Tromp's) gets 27.2 sols/sec on a CPU that costs $320; the RAM and motherboard (not just one slot on a shared motherboard) will put the total cost way, way, above $400.  For $400 you can still get an R9 290 which does 331H/s -- and this is in the middle of the crazy GPU drought.  That's a 12x advantage, which is why (reality check here folks) nobody mines zcash with CPUs.  The GPU advantage was much much larger (like 20x-30x) before the GPU price spike last month due to short-term supply exhaustion.
