We are pleased to release v0.1.8 of Zcoin which fixes the following issues:
Please head to our Releases page to download the updated binaries which are available for Windows and Mac. Linux binary will be released later today. If you wish to compile your own binary, you can do so from the Github.
The reason why the initial load still takes such a long time is due to a full verification to ensure there are no Zerocoin double-spends.
- Wallet loading times improved greatly. First loading time after install/reinstall will still take hours but subsequent loads will take minutes.
- Fixed compile issue for MacOS

it's nice to see your update for this coin. I hope that the update in the future will help this zcoin grows up to attract more big investors.

Looks like an antivirus removed all last posts of "username_007" here... 
I personally only deleted one. He did the rest or a mod...
But yeah it appears he was an alt account for Castellum that was a Zcoin clone (which is also now deleted). Exists in Google search results though.

There have been concerns on hashrate being dominated by CPU only which allows people who use/purchase discounted credits (not always legally) to run large cloud mining operations via AWS and similar.
This is against the spirit of having egalitarian computing which is one of the things that MTP was meant to address. As we only expect MTP development completion in March, the devs are considering doing a parameter change to the Lyra2 algorithm which would allow GPU mining to work alongside CPU mining as a temporary measure to address dumping of coins and unfair domination of hashrate.

This is probably a good idea considering you can buy spot instances dirt cheap if you bid properly.
I wont be joining slack, so hopefully the information will be posted in this thread as well.
Its always hard to find a way to fairly distribute a coin now since so many players want quick profits.
One cpu coin that thought about this issue was Magi by reducing rewards as hash rates gets higher. This might be something to consider
