Big thanks to Kayla and chipah and a few others who spent many hours helping me with testing all this week.

Thanks guys

ok guys, last test session (the third one) is still going on,
we have found and removed a few bugs and are confident that the forking will go over smoothly.

https://github.com/zettel-kasten/burgerhash

This last test session will be maintained as official test net forever, so we won't restart its blockchain,
If you want to join and set up a testnet-fullnode or mine a few BURGER-coins here are the downloads:

ok,

Test Nr. 2 has started.

We fixed the resyncing issue that got us stuck in Test 1.
(It happened because out-of-order-blocks (like orphanblocks) were not correctly validated towards SDKPGAB, because such out-of-order-blocks don't necessarily have all the parents available in-chain yet to do the validating. So this validation is being postponed until such blocks actually are about to become part of the chain).

Here are the new download-links for Test Nr. 2

Which one of these should we download for the Windows desktop wallet, and is it live or is this a testnet ?

Is the new main net wallet also going to have that burger picture on it? for someone trying to lose weight that's just cruel Cheesy

All main net versions will work with ZETTEL and have addresses which start with Z.

All the testnet versions will work with BURGER and have addresses that start with B.

So no, don't worry, BURGERS are only here to be consumed by those who help testing.

ok,

a first test-chain has started on Slack.

Here are the links:

Working on an improved version ....
we found a few bugs, will fix it and reupload + github once stable...

Hi folks,

good things need their time and patience!
Just relax and keep on mining. (That's what I am doing  Smiley )

BTW, I have revised the new algorithm.

It will not use a MAX_BLOCK_SIZE of 300, but maintain the MAX_BLOCK_SIZE of 200 that we already have.

Good news

in ca 12 hours I will start a test-chain
in which we will replay the upcoming fork-situation in high-speed-mode
to check how the network will react and whether the algo-transition goes through smoothly.

Summary of what we are going to test:

1) First 399 blocks are in SpreadDoubleKetchup-mode

2) From block 400 onwards we switch to the new hash-algo (SpreadDoubleKetchupPrimeGradeABeef)
You will be able to see how the hashrate changes. The difference is negligible and barely measurable, but check for yourself later.

3) Afterwards we test the update-signalisation

4) test-net will terminate (no new blocks possible) after 1000.

Everyone is free to join.
I will be available on the official Slack-channel during the test, so if you haven't yet,

join Slack:

Slack-Invitation-Link

I'll post download-links and github when I'm ready (approximately in 12 hours)

The test-chain has its own blockchain and port (52001)
so you can run it side-by-side with zettelkasten.
I gave it a different coin-name and address-room, because some people are idiots and will try to send ZETTEL to this test-chain if it was possible.

I'd love to see a few people throw some CPU-power on that test,
the more people join the quicker the test (consisting of 1000 blocks) will be over.

After this first test has been found successful, I will merge the new code with main net and drop the update.

We will still do more of these 1000 block quick-test afterwards, they shouldn't take longer than 10 hours each,
and should I find minor bugs, I will release revised versions for main net.

Happy mining and thanks for your patience.

It is definitely GPU resistant. Also pool resistant for now. When some of those become available network hashrate will skyrocket.

No, it's not GPU resistant, it is exchange resistant and whitepaper resistant.

when is the exchange planned?

I doubt drop is from gpu, most likely cloud.
Big cloud miners tend to mine new coins at the coin beginning and not stay for long. There is few newer cpu coins so maybe they moved further.
I thought ZETTEL coin is a CPU efficient and it's faster than GPU.

Not sure if it is GPU resistant, the dev did say some time ago, when the hashrate shot up, that a GPU miner may be mining Zettel.
If someone is mining with gpu hashrate would be huge, keccak hashrate for one 1060 is 360 MH/s, one 1070 is 685 MH/s, one 1080 is 900MH/s.

From what I understand, ZETTEL is GPU and pool resistant... both _could_ be implemented.  At this point, I believe the consensus is to remain CPU only for now.  The Dev would be able to give a much clearer picture, but I think he's heads-down, working on the modified algo mentioned a few posts earlier.

hashrate dropped massively in last two days perhaps the gpu crew realize algo about to change and have moved onto something else ?
