we need official discord group
one owned by the dev, not one owned by random people

make a convincing argument why. unofficial already exists already. why does dev need to spend time away from other things to run an official discord? we have a way to communicate already. what does discord offer that bitcointalk doesn't already? he said there is search engine advantage to posting on this forum where telegram and discord would completely miss that for google seo.

i don't know why ppl think you need a white paper, discord, and telegram. if you really think of what's actually needed, a bitcointalk thread and github repo with binary is all you really need.

Wallet BUST

Hi guys, anyone else experiencing this?

Wallet been fine until today, now when mining, it randomly closes...usually after 30-40 mins, no erros ,i just notice window has gone, and when i hover over icon (notification area) it goes.
I re-open, and start mining again, no issues, but then again 30-40 mins in, same again, been like it all day.
No previous problems....has something been updated?
J

My is still running fine. But I'm not using all CPU threads, lower the number of threads see if it helps.

He was not interested in starting one so I did, because people were asking about it.

So is it a decentralized knowledge base? To access this content, should  have Zettel tokens or will it be open, free to the community?

Probably people asked here already.
But is there something more besides CPU mining? Any future plans? Whitepaper? Exchanges/price predictions?

>Why do you feel we need a discord channel?
>People are mining the coin, and having fun....

>It will grow of its own accord

I don't particularly, but several people were asking for one earlier. If they want one, there's no reason they can't start one. That was my main point.

In terms of why have one...
I guess, why not, though? Discord isn't necessarily about advertising. It can be a more fluid way of communicating than scrolling through bitcointalk. I mean, why does it need a bitcointalk announcement?

I understand that much more hash on this and mining with a single cpu becomes pointless...I guess that's a reason against spreading the word. But, I'm honestly not sure having a discord channel even means that more people get involved.

Hey Dev, everyone. There's no reason someone can't just set up a Zettel discord, right? I mean this is open source like bitcoin, so while there's a developer, he doesn't control the code, and he doesn't control the community. I would do it and post an invite, but I'm not a discord advanced user, and it would probably be better is someone else owned the page. Any takers? Of course, if it did happen, it would be great if the dev were a member and stuff... Cheesy

If you are interested in mining with gpu, look for other coins...
If you are interested in mining at pool, look for other coins...
No, we need pools to survive with this coin, because the only reason we can still mine this coin today is half of all the miners left (only 64 mh/s atm instead of 120.)
We don't need gpu mining farms to take over, but without pools this coin can't attract more people to grow.

No, I will never provide a GPU miner, since it will only further consolidate mining into even fewer hands.

Regarding pool: The Spread-Mechanism makes pool-operation difficult, so don't expect my help there either.

My goal is to extend the CPU-mining-phase as long as possible. Maybe even indefinitely (which will require hash algo updates).

More infos soon.

And thanks to the guy that made that recent 20 Zettel donation!

Great to hear a dev sticking to his guns.
I been mining since 2010 and currently am mining over 470 coins (12 as i type this), 95% of them are GPU,  4.99% CPU and .1% HDD (Burst), and i can tell you, i get by far the most enjoyment out of CPU mining, and even more so direct from wallet with no pools.
Keep this up and in 2-4 years it actually could be the next Bitcoin.
For the guys who want gpus/pools, i get where you are coming from, but lets keep this 1 coin special please. There are over 1600 other coins you can mine.

Dev this is my exact balance after 8 days mining, 99.4667525 ZETTEL and i am sending you 25 coins. Enjoy

Some unsolicited thoughts on extending CPU mining...

This is not a criticism of your goals or statement that they aren't currently met... Clearly people are mining reasonably on CPU today, so thank you for that. At the same time, the algo you're using can quite easily be supported on GPU. I thought of doing that, but abandoned the idea of putting any time into it when I saw your statement about changing to something else. If that was your intent, it worked on me Wink. SpreadDoubleKetchup is a tiny bit harder to port than some other well known algos, just because most simple devs won't be able to cut and paste the Keccak hash of a length greater than 72. A lot of others will. I'm probably slower than other devs on that kind of thing, and I'm surprised there isn't GPU software available already. If you plan to keep it CPU-friendly, I think it would have to be credibly hard to port to GPU, which it isn't now, and you'd still likely have to change periodically. Otherwise, CPU miners who believe in you will get blindsided by stealth GPU miners, which is similar to what GPU miners experience with ASICs and isn't likely to drive decentralization. JMHO.

I am pulling 3 blocks a day on a processor that is 9 years old with no OC right now.  We do not need a pool or a gpu miner!

AMD 955 Black ~ 80 kH/s

I get no blocks for over a day then suddenly in quick succession I'll get two blocks dropping in, it's a bit of a lottery but still worth the wait.

Smiley old school mining...
I'm nearly at 100 coins...
hope they go for $1 each

Funny you should say that. I have almost 100 Zettel too, 99.781 to be exact.
We need GPU mining, if we don't get pool and GPU mining Zettel is going to die a slow lingering death, c'mon dev give us GPU miner.

wtf? no, we don't need a gpu miner, we need a pool. There is no solution in brining up the Speed to a few gpu mining farms. If you are interested in mining with gpu, look for other coins...
Why should we use a a new cpu algo if you guys just want to use your gpus?
