Who the fuck knows anymore?
is there even an official fork or is this baby dead?
I'm pretty sure I am on the wrong fork, but I don't have a fuckin clue where else to get a wallet (because both githubs are on the same fork)

Where is the binary download link?

The windows binary can be downloaded here : 0.8.6.5 HIRO Client (Windows)

I have confirmation from both CoinKing.io and Poloniex that they will be moving to the new client. I am preparing the dev environment to compile the binaries as we speak.

good news, hopefully mint will follow!

We need confirmation that major exchanges are on this before we can safely update to the new fork or otherwise it will be useless.

Also imho reducing block reward or even going full PoS will not help unless there is some serious development backing this, this had been seen times and again in cryptoland.
Those decisions were taken a while ago and the pros and con's have already been weighted. We've just been waiting to see it implemented. Questioning it at this stage is pointless and should be tried rather than assuming doing nothing is better.

A couple pages back, you'll see all the discussion about it, with both sides weighted in.

Where is the binary download link?

I just need to set up a dev environment to compile the binaries. I should have them ready for tomorrow unless someone is kind enough to compile them for me.

Also if you're mining HIRO at any pools please kindly remind them to update to the new github.

After discussing with various members of the Hirocoin community and outside parties it's been decided that we will be hard-forking into the Dynamic Reward System.

The code is simple enough, we get the average of the last 100 difficulty values and then divide that into the current difficulty to get the weight to apply to the coin reward. The new coin reward can go from 40 to 400 depending on whether the difficulty is going up, down or remains static.

The hardfork date will be set for September 22nd at block 285,500.

I will be taking over the project for now unless Hiro himself opposes the takeover.

MintPal, Poloniex and all pools will be contacted shortly to be asked to update to the new client on my github.

So it's omarGcoin now? Can we go back to the cool godzilla logo?

YES! I second that.
The coin started its death spiral immediately after the introduction of the ugly as fuck new logo.
Bring back Godzilla.

Haha, I'm a fan of the current logo however the Godzilla may appear in future Hirocoin media and branding.

Debating whether or not to switch the multipool off and to mine HIRO directly. Currently the bid ask spread is wide and it may be the most profitable option.

Also after the hardfork, mining HIRO directly will reduce the block reward which should help clamp down on the market saturation. It may be the best move...

I have made a separate official Hirocoin pool located here : http://omargpools.ca/hiros

If you reduce block reward, hash rate will reduce.

But the incentive is that if you currently hold HIRO by mining and decreasing the block reward, you will make your holding inherently more scarce.

Also if the block reward drops, then the amount of HIRO being mined in total and dumped on the market is reduced. It should lead to a higher overall price.

Lower hash rate will subject HIRO to 51% attack.
