Would you stop saying the same thing over and over again, we got the message and agreed! we have already stated what we are working on, 2 of the devs are currently away one of them is the one that will be looking at anonymous sending, he is back in just over a week.

We are still working on the new website inc a news page and updates on the multipool.  when there is more news we'll post more news.

Part of the problem is we're all holding the coins, there are 360k coins on poloniex, and less on bittrex and 14m total coins.

Ok, you got it. Understood. Did you share these facts about unavaiable devs before? If i missed it, sorry, one more reason to implement a news section. Do you think i like to be annoying or that i am driven by some kind of vanity? I just vehemently demand sharing of information to keep this community connected with Badgercoin. Please make my petitions unnecessary by generally communicating important news and by doing this more regulary. Thanks for your update anyway, if you need help or funding, pm me.

Sorry but since when did we have to tell everybody each devs every comings and goings?  We work on it as much as we possibly can, and update news when its newsworthy.  We have already said we are working on a new website where we will add some of your ideas like feature etas, until then please stop badgering us with the same thing over and over and your negativity (all be it mixed in with very good ideas and plans)

Of course you don t have to, don t get me wrong. I m still truly thankful for what you do, like we all are. But with creation comes responsibility and i think the devs' comings and goings are newsworthy, especially when it comes to realize important implementations. It s not about stalking you, this kind of transparency and comprehensibility is an inner value of any lively community.

To stompix, If you believe that kills a coin, then you need to reconsider your belief in the entire POS system because that is how all POS coins work.  There is nothing that limits actual use, besides, have you seen the coin now?  It's not exactly alive.  Go look at Blackcoin mktcap, we can be higher than that.  What this does is it simply magnifies the POS portion, but only for the longterm holders.  Believe me, there will still be plenty of shortterm buyers and sellers.  Implementing Advanced POS and then adding anonymous features could be the perfect storm combination that takes this coin from "dead" to number 1 in volume on Poloniex.

Probably you're missing one point
YOUR NUMBERS!

Those rates are pure madness and only a bagholder whos only concern is to count how many conis he has would be able to say something like this.

With that amount people will have no incentive to spend , just hoard till all their hoarding is worth 1 satoshi.
Also , you're missing some key features about pos , you're concentrating on just one.

FYI to badgercoin_team
If I knew that Advanced POS was going to be implemented and that anonymous transactions work was moving along, I would buy several BTC worth of BDG on Polo right now to hold for the longterm and I'm sure that I'm not alone in that thinking.

That is very real actual market demand right there.  And it is also demand that is unlikely to switch back to selling because people will want to hold not days, but months before even considering selling.

Agreed and like I say we will look into it and see what we can do, will also add it to the feature request page of the new website which we'll add etas and costings if there are any.

Stompix general thoughts about currencies are correct. Additionally, looking at POS, its main purpose is independance from POW. The network survives just by people leaving their wallts unlocked. A very good concept because it s efficient not only concerning power consumption. Reducing supply because people baghold is a side-effect but is not the main purpose of POS.

Nevertheless, I think your idea is interesting. But before raising mid- or long-term interest we really need to focus on reviving this coin by stimulating demand.

Badgercoin_team.  Let's speed up the distribution now via my advanced staking formula before the Dev who is working on anonymous transactions returns so that all the current Badger holders and loyalists have the chance to go buy more badgers on the open market now, before the anonymous transactions work begins.

PROJECTED TIMELINE

5-25-14  Implement Advanced Staking Formula
6-14-14  Implement RC1 for anonymous transactions

Sorry but we're not going to rush functions to a working wallet, not only will the community need to decide if they want this but it will need fully tested as we don't want to risk a fully working coin by rushing a fork.

Yes, continuing work to add features to the coin is also a must, but this is not just removing supply.  I think you are looking at the concept incorrectly.  It will both remove active selling (not supply) from current BDG holders because they now want to reach the 30 day age.  This is a DIRECT REMOVAL OF ACTUAL SELL ORDERS, NOT SUPPLY, as the total coins still stay the same.  At the same time, it provides a very strong incentive for people who never wanted BDG before to consider buying it, ie NEW DEMAND, because now they know that they can be strongly rewarded buy buying BDG on the open market and ageing them in their wallet.

First of all, it would be very nice if you could stop using big black or little red letters, it is very uncomfortable and even a little bit annoying to read. We understand the importance of your thoughts even if you use a normal fontsize and -color.

With all respect, i think it is you that is looking at the concept incorrectly. "Active selling" (not sure what passive selling would be) is nothing else than supply in terms of market mechanisms.

Furthermore i disagree that it would provide any incentive just to raise interest for long-term holders. What you do is simply force short-term inflation. Might be even dangerous for a currency with currently limited buy support. The problem is not the supply, people actually should use their coins even if it s for speculation. This creates volume and attracts investors.

But before any Badgercoin holder can sell his coins, there must be reasons for an investor to buy it. Do you see any indications for that on poloniex? I don t. Guess why... really, you guess, because i don t want to repeat myself again.

Okay guys my rig was down but now I'm mining again, everyone come join and let's make BDG flourish!
I am still buying and holding BDG. Hope it's worth. Smiley
Me two!
I would like the Badgercoin_team to put up for a vote to the community for us to change the 15% flat POS schedule to a more advanced tiered POS system that rewards buyers of badgers and long term holders of badgers.  Given Badgers are extremely cheap the goal would be to provide incentive for people to buy up all the cheap Badgers on the open market and HOLD THEM and this new tiered POS system would reward them handsomely for doing so.
It would go as follows.

10 Days- 15%
15 Days- 60% (or the 4X equivalent of a 10day stake)
30 Days- 120% (or the 8X equivalent of a 10 day stake)

What the above schedule would mean is that for badgers held 30 days, those coins would begin staking at a richly rewarded rate of 120%/year.  It would greatly incentivise people to buy badgers on the open market and continue to hold them.  For those who are patient and can resist the urge to sell their badgers as the price begins rising steadily, they will get paid a full 10% of their total coin amount EVERY MONTH (or whatever number is equivalent to 8X the standard 15% stake rate).

I would like the Badgercoin_team to let us vote on this change as I think it would be very helpful for the longterm demand for this coin.

We will defiantly consider the idea, there would have to be some manual setting for options maybe in the coin age window, where you select how long you are prepared to wait.

Don't do it this way.
This will kill the coin by making all the people hold their coins and limit actual use.

It has been clearly shown that success comes with use (doge and btc) not with people holding their coins and staking them forever.

also a very good point, maybe we need to think of doing it the other way, lowering first year interest and evening it out.

we must be creative and think of exanding the Badger community.
It can't all be done bij de dev team.

Maybe someone can make a shop or a market place for badgers.
Or a casino game?

Making a shop/marketplace or a casino is exactly what i d understand not to be creative. Why should anybody buy anything with Badger what can also be bought with any other currency? Why should people come gambling with Badgercoin if almost every other coin has gambling games these days. These features are good for an already flourishing community.

We are far from that and about to be delisted from poloniex if volume won t rise. There are some people still dumping at ridiculous prices, maybe the same people claiming here to be supporters of this coin. You can t stop that. All you can do, is fund killerfeatures or develop new ones. There is nothing else what can save this coin.

I'd gladly donate 2 btc to the implementation of any anonymous transaction feature or any serious new feature. It has to be done now!

It starts to get really disappointing that devs, even though we were told there are 5, are not capable of adding something simple as a regular update. This must be possible even if u guys are in full time jobs. You created a coin, attracted a community and now ... you deny progress or at least you deny to communicate it. I think you underestimate how fast a coin can die. Or you don t care. I don t care about my significant investments in this coin as much as i m disappointed about it going down. This one could have been a better one!

Although this is a good idea i strongly disagree that it would have any influence on demand. Right now, everyone has to admit: There is no such thing as a demand for Badgercoin. Less than 1 btc volume on poloniex, partly from multipool. If supply shrinks because of people bagholding the coin, no demand will rise from that fact. A common misunderstanding of market mechanisms, to my mind.

I m repeating myself, sorry, but the only thing reasonable is to make this coin more attractive by adding popular or new features. Do it or this coin will die.

Anyone know how often you get stake payouts and exactly how the system works?

1.  Let's say you bought 20,000 badgers today.

2.  10 Days from now what will happen?   Will it move 20,000 badgers to the stake line of the wallet and then open a POS block?  If so, how much should you receive in that POS block?

3.  Then what happens over the next 10 days.  Do you wait 10 more days before you unlock a 2nd POS block?  Or do you begin receiving POS income each day after the 10th day?

Inquiring minds want to know.

After 10 days your coin blocks mature and start to stake.
You can see status simply by holding cursor over mining icon: it shows your weight, network weight and expected time to earn reward  Smiley
After staking block halves and it takes 10 days to mature again. You can manage your coin blocks in Send Coins -- Inputs -- List Mode
Ok, we are making some progress so let's keep Wolffish talking.  Can you explain what the "your weight" means vs the "network weight"?  Also, what is happening when you have 2 active connections to the network vs 12 active connections to the network?

Then about inputs.  What should be the strategy to "manage" your coins?  Does this simply let you know when each set of your coins reach the 10 day maturity?  Or can you resort them somehow based on the largest inputs for highest priority and what is the difference between highest priority and medium priority?  What does priority actually do?  Is this letting me select which coins to choose to leave the wallet and I should select the lowest priority coins if I have to move coins?  Is that what the strategy is?

Sorry for all the questions but if someone knows all these details it would be very helpful to know.  I like to understand things fully and I'm still a little unsure of how exactly the POS system operates.

If you want to understand how PoS works, please see here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_Stake
