To commodify ethicality is to ethicise the market
Something that's around the corner: "protocol tokens"

Thanks to the folks at 0X for writing such great stuff on the topic.

These tweets embody why I think that the Blocknet is poised to optimise the potential of protocol tokens, and to provide the foundation for the emerging "token ecosystem".

Hi,

Can someone explain to me in simple bullet points how the decentralized exchange works?
1. Create an order in your wallet
2. XBridge relays it over our DHT network overlay to nodes on any chain
3. People's apps add your order to the order book
4. Someone accepts your order
5. Atomic coin exchange takes place (This is completely trustless, utilising OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY)

Blocknet
- Status: Alpha
- Website: http://blocknet.co/
- BCT Thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annblocknet-truly-decentralized-exchange-token-ecosystem-infrastructure-829576
- A peer-to-peer protocol between nodes that connects different blockchains
- More to come...
Weaknesses:
- To be announced after I understand how it works...

As for weaknesses, I'd say that, from a trader's perspective, a weakness is that we can't support scalping and other fast-in-fast-out trading techniques without inducing risk. (We could, for example, build a slider that enables traders to accept orders from contracts with less than the "safe" number of confirmations. This would basically function as a filter on the order book, enabling "instant" trades in exchange for increased double-spend risk. Best used on small position sizes.)

Note: the Blocknet isn't just a decentralised exchange. That's just what we're bringing out currently. The Blocknet is infrastructure for the inter-chain era and the emerging "token ecosystem." We aim to provide monetised service-delivery from nodes on any chain to dapps on any other one. In this context, the decentralised exchange is our service-monetisation mechanism, and if we are successful, the exchange will be used mostly by machines.

In Cryptocoins I Trust
Hi,

Can someone explain to me in simple bullet points how the decentralized exchange works?

I would like to add it to my thread (The DEX Thread). Actually, I already have added it, but I would like to elaborate on it there. I could not find a whitepaper.

do we have a bootstrap for the wallet?

It's a real pain to sync from the beginning

thanks

If it's the Blocknet chain you're after, here's one: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AnokJf3LD1CMmvc5EE0duFZDnpp4kA

sweet.

How about public testing we need some feedback into thread to let know other people how it's going right now. Good news about this release will make it more fast to grow and get more people to invest into this project.

If anyone could provide the instructions on how to test it properly that would be very helpful:)

Setup guide here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M65hM03tX16FXN-X-30ETWq21WkWts1TxQXv-LR32AU/edit?usp=sharing

Best to join Slack as well, to get support and to report bugs if you find them.

All things are clear BLOCKNET is growing so nice if you have some trust in dev.

Blocknet is my long term investment this is good to see this thread is now getting more exposures. Current public testing is mind blowing achievement so after this milestone this will be on the top. Good luck dev for great testing.
100%. People are missing out on the future right now.

Was there an ICO ? what was the price ?
If not, how was the Blocknet coins distributed ?

Thx !

There was an ITO (Initial token offer). BLOCK is a token not a coin.

ITO took place in November 2014 and the development of the project began asap the ITO finished.

BLOCK`s ITO price was 25.000 satoshis (around $ 0.085 at that time).

Ok I can now see that's the correct info, thanks for the clarification!

P.S. Anyone has a link for the blockchain snapshot or bootstrap file?

its 3.9. I think that might be the burn address.

You can't count that wallet with 6M Block in it - that's just the burn address for the leftover coins from the ICO.  So the top ten real wallets own less than 22% of the outstanding Block.

Im a bit confused: Everyone here says that coin supply is 3.9mln, but  https://chainz.cryptoid.info/block/   says it's 10mln coins in existence..
So where is the truth Huh

Cosmos raised 17 million today in ICO. It's a steal that this is less than 10% of that haha

The general consensus on Cosmos seems to be this:

How you do that, collect such money in short time?

by negotiating with VC funds in advance, getting the partners to agree the deals, postponing the ICO date until they are all ready, and then hiding the hard cap from the 'open' market to snap shut this pseudo 'ICO' instantly (this was no ICO). this was a publicity stunt masquerading as an ICO.

Anyone with a belief that the next web should be truly open and decentralised should shun this project. it's a trap.

Eth supporters don't know any better. Almost none of the ideas on eth are original or are basically centralized toys, they just lack understanding of benefits of trustless uncensorable networks. They created a media bubble where new people are drawn to it with false promises, so a lot of money goes into those ico's. That's why they only compare themselves to bitcoin, the oldest coin.
