which pools better to use? What are their settings, url etc?

P/S: I wish to try burst.ninja, but I have trauma after lost payout of 2 forged blocks at burst.ga... I knew burst.ninja is a new code base, but..... maybe some days in future...

Trust me, lost payouts are not a problem at burst.ninja, they may be a problem for any pools running Uray v1 code.

I'm using mining.burstcoin.io (US) and cryptomining.farm. I like fast confirmation of burstcoin.io, it is good particular for short deadlines especially in a few seconds.

Yes, you may try out all the pools at http://burstcoin.eu/pools as suggested and check which suit you most.

please tell me why my mining doesn't work.
1) I use burst-miner.exe and i try MiningHere.com.io:8124 and get K:\burst-miner-r4-win64 - MiningHere.com>burst-miner.exe

2) or the same for http://127.0.0.1:8125 for V2 Burst Pool

3) and it works for mining.tompool.org:8124. But i get the messages "Passphrase does not match reward recipient"
4) When i use gpu plotter 4.0.3 i can only plot 1 disk. When i try to plot 2 or more disks, via several minutes AMD driver stops for 1 or 2 disks and the undone plots are lost.

How to make it all work?

1) I believed you have type in wrong URL for MiningHere, I think there is no ".io"...
2 & 3) You have to set reward recipient to desired pool before mining. localhost:8125/rewardassignment.html with your wallet run.bat executed
4) Do you mean you plot 2 or more disks simultaneously?

Interesting comparison. However, in regard to BURST mining there might be a small difference, that could change the statistic ;-)

I assume that the tests of that hard disks were made with "normal" usage, that means a mixture of read and write cycles.

BURST mining plots a file first ("one time" writing) and then it reads a portion during mining for each block, which is about every 4 minutes.

all i did was move my generated plots on each drive into the pocminer_pools\plots folder on each drive,
as you need 1 instance of pocminer_pool miner for each plots folder you have..
(^ for those not so PC savvy)

If you use Blago's miner you can run just one instance and have it mine all your drives at once.

its about time some1 in the know went and updated the OP...

past couple of days i havent had much paid out from Mininghere pool, so ive decided to have a go at some of the other pools

the information about which pool to join, based on the what the calculator says and the average payout of the pools miners,
is hardly telling me anything, if anything just confusing me more :/

im trying the Devs V2 pool atm, but keep getting "no valid shares to submit to pool" at each block
(oh now i see one of the instances has found a share, wow - so it appears to be working, and another instance found 2 shares from same block, so dont be put off when you see 'No valid shares to submit to pool' for a while!)

Luck is still a big factor! Usually that smooths out over the days to reach the mathematical average.
E.g., if one day is found nothing, then maybe next days there are found 6, so the average of these two days is (0+6)/2 = 3

The average payout is even more tricky:
E.g., if miner A has a lots of hard disk space, and miner B has very little, then it is likely that A will find (more) blocks than B. However, LUCK is even there and the smaller miner might find the next block with little space while the miner A with big space found nothing.

In my opinion you can hardly influence that with "payout" formulas.

Pool jumping das not change the luck, but can influence if you see every hour a few BURSTs or every second day some 1000s of BURSts.
I would only change a pool if they are down. Dev pool I have not seen down, so stay with them as long as you can.

(howto could be updated too, but i know time is constrained!)

the introduction spiel is abruptly cut short,
theres a few outdated links there and it seems a few things have changed in the past month, with pools and software

At http://burstcoin.eu/pools you can see a list of pools. Check them out.
Pools usually have a link "How to Mine" explaining the settings for that pool.

Remember, that each reward assignment takes 4 confirmations. That means, you cannot test this pool for a minute and then go to the next.

Basically the members of a pool share the income of all mining rewards. How "fair" they pay out is discussed here very often.
Mathematically the ideal pool would be if your hard disk size for mining is similar to the others of the same pool.

http://burstcoin.eu/calculator shows you what you can expect (in the ideal case). In reality there is a factor "Luck"

See it like a lottery. As more tickets you buy, as more chances to win you get. But still Luck can change the real payout to the winner, while the chance to win  still is for tickets the same average.

How to make it all work?

I've personally used burst.ninja:8124 or cryptomining.farm:8124 in each case you'll need to set the pool as the reward recipient within your burst wallet. So if you want to mine a burst.ninja you need to set your burst wallet reward recipient to:BURST-7CPJ-BW8N-U4XF-CWW3U and then wait 4 blocks. (To set reward goto http://127.0.0.1:8125/rewardassignment.html after opening your wallet like you normally would.)
You can now mine to the pool.

since you've mined at both of burst's biggest pools....did you notice any difference in the payouts ?

ninja's payout system recently changed a lot, so the findings are not going to be right unless redone, we're actively developing the best payout system in BURST.

just FYI Smiley

I will chime in with only a few points then I suggest we drop that subject completely.

I would prefer if we'd keep the discussion civil and leave our personal differences out of it. This community has been friendly and helpful so far so let's continue that course.

People inform me that we have several developments in progress which should alleviate some of the pains newcomers to Burst face.
Cannot give any dates as there are none, we are all in this on a volunteer basis, but I'd like for the community to know that development presses on and that people's opinions are being taken on board.

Thank you all, let's make this a success together.

Finally, this is the best post regarding BURST after reading some pages in this thread  Tongue
