The hashrate of 200kh/s is not set in stone - it might even be worthwhile to still mine with below 200kh/s on p2pools, but the lower it gets, the harder it is to submit a share to pplns and the variance you mentioned is quite high.
On a prop payout you should see more steady payout - you can check it in the block history how it works

I think you're about right though - 200kh/s seems to be the tipping point for it. Mining on a traditional pool now I'm seeing a much more stable return rate than I was with P2Pool with that same slower nVidia card.

Hey guys,

something about mining in p2pool:

If your hashrate is below 200kh/s I encourage you to move to a traditional pool with prop payout like
http://cachepool.cryptoprojects.eu/
http://cach.catcoin.cz/

p2pool pays with pplns - and if you hashrate is very low the chance of submitting a valid share towards p2pool shares is quite low. So you might receive better earnings with lower hashrate on a traditional pool

Also for p2pool:
Please wait 24hours for the proper payout amount to average - since it is based on pplns the first shares will have a lower payout.
After 24 hours you should see the normal average. (Don't worry, nothing is lost - once you stop mining at p2pool you will still get payed for some time for the value of your already provided shares )
Really useful to know actually. I frequently mine with my desktop GPU which is an nVidia card and the hashrate is very low. I was wondering why my P2Pool earnings weren't as reliable and I guess that is it.

For windows I can not properly provide help - this miner should be working, make sure you include the proper command line options or provide them in cgminer config

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt-jane --sj-nfmin 4 --sj-nfmax 30 --sj-time 1388949883

For linux the easiest way is to use this miner from github https://github.com/Sykh/cacheminer

To install:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/Sykh/cacheminer
cd cacheminer
./autogen.sh
./configure
make

and for testing connect to p2pool with this line:

Code:
./yacminer -o http://cache.cryptoprojects.eu:8336 -u -p somehing

Are you using the proper version of cgminer ?
CACHeCoin requires a different miner

Can you provide some more details? I am trying to get it running too on BAMT... No luck so far.

CACHeCoin has finally been added to coinmarketcap.com Smiley

awesome news - so people join the party, mine and help securing the nework.

BTW - my pool is on a lucky streak - found 4 blocks in less than 3 hours .. profitability rising Smiley

Edit: question about getting stake coins and its timer.. Is the timer only running when wallet is running? When wallet is closed does the timer a) pause, or b) reset, or c) it's not a timer it's a time stamp that are cmp with a GPS clock?

Got the answer and it's c. it's not a timer, it's a time stamp.

I've added the pool, but Removed P2Pools and left the scanner link.

Thank you for digging deeper - earlier today the p2pool network was consisting of less hash-rate and the "grey-matter" did not appear.

cach.catcoin.cz ist a great pool and in the beginning i have been mining over there, but since we are lacking pools I decided to open up another one so we can evenly distribute the hashrate.

When accounting p2pool has to be seen as one pool - even though there are different nodes, for an attack vector it is just "one" pool.

Happy mining guys!

PS: Kalgecin can you add
http://cachepool.cryptoprojects.eu
and
http://cache.cryptoprojects.eu:8336/static/

to the Op? Thanks

P2pool currently consist of 4 public nodes, being run by 4 people (and apparently there are also 6 non-public nodes). Then we have two traditional pools (my pool and mr.pj's pool) and I guess we still have a bunch of solo miners.

My estimates on current hashrate distribution:
cach.catcoin.cz - 28%
cachepool.cryptoprojects.eu - 2% (a while ago, now it seems to be under maintenance)
all public p2pool nodes combined - 30% (Sy's node does have about 70% of the entire p2pool hashrate though, 21% of total hashrate)
invisible "dark matter" - 40% (solo miners, probably large mining farms able to operate outside pools, perhaps also non-public pool nodes)

Not really risk of someone getting 51% soon.

I'll wait how many people (if any) will leave my pool and go to mr.pj's pool.
If my pool will stay close to 30% of total hashrate, or even goes over it, I'll set the fee back to 1% from current 0.5% - maybe this will ensure a bit more even distribution of the hashrate, as then my fees and p2pool fees would be the same.

Today is the day of good news  Wink

Finally another pool is up to distribute the hashrate more evenly

http://cachepool.cryptoprojects.eu/

Feel is currently set to 0.5% - I will keep a close eye on the pool and as always will improve the pool software even further

Help to distribute the network more evenly and join this pool now :-)

For an incentive - everyone who mines at the pool for atleast 24hours will receive a bonus payment tomorrow night!

EDIT:

Please distribute your hashrate a bit more - right now we have 3 pools up and running, but only p2p and catcoin are used- providing 51% attack possibilities

Great to see that another pool is alive and kicking, but I really think you should reconsider what P2Pool actually is before scaremongering like that..

Disagreed. P2Pool is the best way to avoid 51% attacks, dont say that.

If you want a healthy coin, mine P2Pool! http://q30.qhor.net:8337/

The coins will continue to mature when the wallet is closed.  Once you open the wallet and there are mature coins available you will get an opportunity to POS.
